    Tricho seedlings have red tinge.

Great to see some other 'newbie' like me has tricho babies simultaneously with mine. I have 3 months old bridgesii, peruvianus, werdermannianus & terscheckii, and new born pachanoi. It would be great to share photos of their evolution My young terscheckii also seemed to tend to redden quite easily, but they also had one of the bigger germ rates...

    Grafting Book

heh, since I have already downloaded it some time now, I thought I should also congratulate teo for the great work and attitude [sharing, that is] - thanks!!!

Hmmm while I thought this peruvianus characteristic V shape was referring to the area between two ribs, and especially in new growth or from old growth towards new growth, in the mean time I noticed the V above each areoles and said to myself: "hey, is THIS the V thing I read about?" - and now that I think of it [when upstairs to check my cacti as well] I noticed the growth V shape exists also in my predominant-like pedro.... My own hasn't got very long spines, and I cut it into 3 pieces to propagate. I will put close photos some time soon

    Wintering Cacti in Coldhouse

Hmmm, they are not in nature, they're in artificial pots reaaaaaaly far away from where they naturally belong... Yeah, I have been rotating several of my plants [whenever I remember] so as they have a nice shape, thats the idea - for cacti it's also about preserving them going straight up, not making curves and so... hey, you missed this question, and I think it's of general interest, apart from my own... What about the grafted pairs? which plant gets the attention? mytrilos, which are the stock or lopho which are the scion define the preferances? [actually this is more of a general grafting question, rather than wintering stuff]

    Wintering Cacti in Coldhouse

Uhmmmm, I have been rotating my tricho's, isn't this right? I didn't get sun burn, because the location they are [roof] in they have sun all day heh, I meant then it depends on the stock's preferances rather than the scion's... ? becasue I got lopho on myrti and soon lopho on pere too ... myrtilo is a bit cold sensitive, but I should be OK , huh?

    Wintering Cacti in Coldhouse

thanks a lot man, sounds like fine advice as always still, would lower light [due to sheltered location] cause thinner growth, assuming growth does occur? what about grafted material? it falls to the host? lopho on myrti is what I have in mind... or even small lopho on pere....

    Wintering Cacti in Coldhouse

As far as I am concerned, we don't have very cold weather in winter... I wonder if I should really do something special for trichocerei species except from putting them in a more protected [from breezes] spot, rather than the somewhat exposed spot they are now .....

    Wintering Cacti in Coldhouse

    It will be my first winter with any cacti as well, and I already have enough of them, including babies of various ages.... So this matter is also of interest to me... is it possible to force them to keep growing during the winter? What about grafted lopho? what about 3~5 months old seedlings? {lopho}

yeah uV/sun exposure might be best after powederising material....
  11. Teotz' , I appreciate your feedback , but the lining of various links / opinions praising psychedelics on your side are actually no arguements - what I suggested is pretty specific. Like Micromegas [2 greek words in you name dude ] noted, there's a serious contradiction in your sayings, please try to understand what I am saying before you force yourself to reply. I love growing plants with psychedelic properties, that's why I am here, no need to defend them...
  12. LOL thanks well this particular plant is what got me into cacti - I got this as a newbiee gift from Jono of this very forum - speaking of jono, where is this lad... [ok I found him ] other than that, it was supposed to be a san pedro , seed grown... I will let you know if I learn anything more... I do want to learn more on my plant, so...
  13. I found these Lophophoras in a local nursery, what a surprise, I realise they're quite young for someone to tell, but still, would anyone wanbt to give some opinions? *********** I grafted one in a myrtillocactus stock, my first serious attempt, to boost it's growth and maybe ID it earlier... I hope it doesnt fail, 'cause it's a pretty thin slice.... *********** the 2 trichs they came from a good US vendor , a t.pachanoi and t.bridgesii - I don;t for one moment doubt their ID, but I would love to see any comments on my new and already beloved specimens from you guys here.... ********** I found Euphorbia obesa for the round cacti.... I saw some photos of it clustering, what's the story with it? as far as the stone plants are concerned, what are argyroderma and lithops botanical differences??
  14. Thanks a lot, very interesting read, you're a treasure

    Muscimol warning

that's a myth, also replicated in a not-so-modern greek mycobook the flesh of the caps is more potent than the skins themselves, as far as IBO/MUS are concerned [some japanese paper] many many successful reports exist for cooking, I think also traditional preparations also... Understandable enough... they're delicious mushrooms! yep, that's the right way although you needn't boil, just bring to boil, take off the heat and then leave them to sit for 10 mins, occasionaly stirring. also try sun drying first!
  16. also this little guy is growing taking the form of a pachanoi also

Do you have any links on the qualities of this Eileen strain? Can T.bridgesii [by their description] have the V shape that exists in peruvianoid trichs? ~ sorry if I sound stupid, it's my first cacti growing year
  18. Very interestin info! Keep it coming
  19. Interesting thread... [edited some hours later, to re-phrase some things, my original post was a bit hasty] I am more inclined to agree with those who put set, setting, dose and other aspects like the personal reaction and/or abuse of such psychedelics in the past as main propable factors for such reactions ~ *** ... yet there seems that T.bridgesii has a marked {?} difference, something which remains unsolved , or at least only speculations about it exist, if I understand right - or is Smith's claim about kaempferol and quercetin acting as MAOIs more than just mere hypothesis? [edit] here I might be wrong, because I considered T.bridgesii difference as a fact, but then again I am not sure if everyonbe agrees that T.bridgesii is different in a way other than more potent... or more fixed in its potency... ***** On another note, are there reports of people who experienced a more severe form of poisoning than the 'usual' one, after a bridgesii experience, maybe due to food which 'disagreed' with the MAOI in there or something? Could any other sicknesses and body implications described by people who have ingested some trich be caused by MAOIs in certain Trichocereus strains? ********** Well to my sub-point. I actually had never a Trichocereus/Lophophora experience to start with, but still, has anyone heard of disorders caused/catalysed by drugs [pretty often of the classic psychedelics type] ? I am referring to HPPD , drug-induced DP/DR etc etc... From a short research I made last year in support sites such as 'hppd-online' I came to the conclusion that such incidents are caused mostly by abusive young people eating more than what the mind and/or body could handle or [quite rare I would say] some people with unusual sensitivity [predisposition maybe], maybe also combined with wrong preparation & attitude, also in many cases by initially ignoring the alarming symptoms and continuing use causing a crisis. **************** t st tantra>> did this individual experience lingering visual aspects or just mental? Please elaborate a bit, why you feel T.bridgesii has a certain 'dark space' ~ to make matters even more complicated, is this true with all bridgesii strains?? Please do give link for this quote of yours [edit] or did I get this wrong, and the problematic after effect are more bodily than mental [hypertension, as you said], and so that might raise the question about the bridgesii coctail of other unstudied/not isolated substances? Here I would like to add, that I have been interested in such 'problems' psychedelic use might cause, and I would be grateful if some older member could post some links of previous similar threads in here... I have noted that even people with serious understanding of psychedelics and quite sensible approach seem to dismiss/degrade such problems, maybe afraid of 'negative publicity' or something. Arguements I have read about this range from 'hppd is a gift' to 'even bad trips are rewarding, it's part of the 'meta-programming' ' etc. ~ I sense that the attitude of Corroboree is slightly different and more sensitive in these realms, and I would gladly read opinions of all the sensible members here, maybe in another thread .... [any link?] I do remember that this particular report refers to an individual who wasn't in the best time of his life [that's a bad set to start with], but what was his expectations of the experience? What is the persons past life like, any other problems/indications with substance use? Teotz the 'symptoms' of 'psychedelic-induced disorders' aren't reduced to anxiety only. A really wide range of symptoms could be initiated, actually I think the whole range of 'mental disorders' , even psychosomatic, I would guess. I strongly believe that in the same way that psychedelics can heal off a mental or other disease, they can also initiate/catalyze the appearance of mental kinds of them... Would you elaborate more on this ~ say, in what way is it different, what have you heard? ? sounds like a hardcore combination to me I am not sure of why would someone do this, unless previously accustomed with each component alone. What would one wanna do with this mix? PS: Does anyone happen to have pics of T.bridgesii that have that certain 'dark' of otherwise different aspect?
  20. My first graft seems succesful, in spite of it being a thin slice ~ a poor first attmpt , that is :) :)

    Argyreia nervosa cultivation & propagation

Update: My argyreias are happy, the growth this spring [ after the fungus infection/damage] was very impressive. What a great plant! Two different Argyreia strains side by side, both interesting. The right one is over 1 year old but was kept in a small pot until recently, the lieft one is 6 months old, in between are 2 turbinas. Is there anyone who know the subspecies of A.nervosa or any other info links etc? ********** spot the argyreias! my new-made roof garden ********* I am currently trying to perfect a way of propagation by cuttings.
