    don't mix up o. compressa and o. ficus-indica. o. compressa is a species of prickly pear that can live in zone 3. apparently, due to how it "compresses" for the winter, it can make a scion cold hardy. this will be an experiment of mine this year. also, if anyone in the US wants a few pads, drop me a PM. i'll be taking cuttings in late april or early may.
