Hi all. Its been a while but back on the band wagon and wanting to expand my fuzzie network of friends.. I was hoping someone out here might be able to help out with some mushroom cultures or some plugs?? I am happy to pay money, trade plants/seed/cultures(as soon as there ready)/ prints or even cook you vego diner if you want Anyways let me know, i have found a few sources for plugs in Europe and the US but obviously would prefer to source closer to home (and im unsure of the legality of importing em anyways) although a bloke from Germany did tell me that he has sent plugs here many times with no problem. Anyways let me know.. Also does anyone know the legality of say a sub culture or cube culture?? I know it is explicitly expressed in the mycology section that P.C prints are for microscopy purposes only, are cultures in the same category or because it is an established mycellium network does this cross the boundary??? well at least if she did decide to ditch em she would still be alive, im pretty sure that i could safely say that her life, as with any other has more that a monetary value.. Ive had friends in clubs that have done exactly that, thrown em on the ground and cut their losses, if they felt they had time, give them around to friends to eat instead of eating em all for yourself(share em) seems like (don't crucify me for this comment) it was more of a selfish act that anything I mean its a horrible thing to have happened but honestly i dont see how the police can be blamed when she took em there knowing the risk and ate em.... If the police turned around next year and said."we fucked up!! there'll be no more sniffer dogs at BDO from now on" do u think that there will be less or more drugs at next years BDO and do you think that drug OD's will decrease or increase...?? I mean its like 35-45 degrees every year at BDO, thats one of the big reasons its such a problem, eating a pill thats going to de-regulate your internal temp on a day as hot as BDO is every year is very dumb indeed! I can relate this to something that just happened in my area involving a police chase... An unlicenced driver in my area crashed and killed a mother and young daughter during a police chase about two months ago.. The police knew the car, they knew who the driver was and where he lived because he was a repeat offender and they could see who he was through the window of the car.. The arguement is that if the police had of just drove to his home and waited for him there that the crash never would have happened.. but because it was the police that continued the high speed chase does that mean it was them that caused the crash?? So is it the polices fault that the driver crashed because they continued chasing him or is it the driver's fault for hopping behind the wheel in the first place??? Ive been to BDO about 5 times now and IMO you would have to be really dumb to catch public transport to the event with drugs on you.. I was searched because i smelt like weed smoke and a friend of mine was strip searched this year because the dogs alerted to drugs, but we both knew what a stupid idea it would be to try take drugs in because of the extremely strong police presence every year.... Like honestly, if you are going to be stupid enough to take drugs into an event like that you do the smart thing and at least put the saddy bag of pills into the bottom of your bottle of sunscreen and dont eat three at once because you dont wanna loose your money/drugs... OR just get a lift in with a friend and dont catch public transport!!!!! she coulda ate one and threw the rest, given her friends a pill each or could have chose to leave them at home like most other ppl did that day.. Im not saying that the police should be there with their dogs, or that i enjoy their presence, i honestly really wish they weren't, but how can you blame police when it was the girl that chose to take drugs to the event where sniffer dogs and police will be present and in the end it was the girls decision to eat all three instead of ditching em or sharing them... Just my thoughts... Peace

Hey if anyone can clarify, i was curious if mycelium contains any active's? and if these can be utilized after the cake has been exhausted?.. Also was wondering why i would have fruiting cakes whilst still inside substrate jars, and also sometimes before the network has fully taken hold of the substrate.. It makes it very hard to work with because the mushrooms are growing in the 2-5mm void between the cake and the glass and creating a pressure seal which makes it extremely difficult to remove them and also creates a conflict of interest when the cake hasn't fully colonized yet and has overly large fruits on it.. Also probably a stupid question but anyone grown in zip lock bags?? I have a decent terrarium setup but wanted to do some experimenting on the side and thought about going poor mans.. but... i thought i could go 1 better, so ive created my lil Aussie bogan terrarium which utilizes zip lock bags perlite and a hand sprayer with good results, just put a couple of handfuls of perlite in the bottom of the bag and opening once a day for air circulation n spraying whenever i remember (usually once a day) for humidity... Ive found this pretty good, although they do not (or have not) grown any large fruit, i do get quite alot of small to medium sized caps and it probably works out about even wit the cakes in my shroom house.. It is hard to tell with the pictures being all out of focus but they both look un-edible to me.. It is not a sub if it doesn't bruise blue and judging by the white gills and uniform colour i would stay well away.. Where did you find the orange/red one? looks interesting.. if it wasnt picked in a pine forest, or at the base of a pine tree i would assume that it is not an amnita, and even if it is an amnita i would still not touch it.. Also amnitas tend to fruit early winter so i think id leave that red one alone if i were you.. Peace

Shitty indeed!! Yeah it sucks sometimes the way things work out ey.. Just got a new job dude, got to do an induction at Rosehill on Sunday starting at 8 and i only found out today!!... Yeah i really needed to sort some things out in my world and i wasnt fit to party when the big crunch was on, think im going through a a mid life crisis or sumptin! lol....heard i missed one hell of a party, you know it was one of my friends properties (well her grandparents) and she told them that she was going to have a group of maybe 6-10 people over on the property to camp out have a small fire n shit...HAAHAHAHAHA. Boy were they surprised when they found out!! Thats awesome you did a set dude, i sure did miss a good party, got great reviews on Australiens and im sorta bummed that i didn't go now coz it was so closed to home and it sounded like a great night... I was gonna go see frenzal this w/e (heard its gonna be their last show for ages) but im really povo so i dont think ill be going.. I know this is a really touchy subject that i probably shoulda kept my nose outta, and honestly, jono i don't think you said anything offensive at all. I think every point of view is a valid one and you should have every right to tell me im a complete tool if you want... Im not going to break down and cry myself a river over it because in the end you will always have your opinions and ill always have mine and to me there is no right and wrong, just a difference of opinion, but by the same token i hope what i said didn't offend or upset you in any way.. I honestly think your right when you say that he has made a positive impact on people's opinions about conservation of the world we live in(weather he meant to or not), and i don't necessarily think anything he did was all that bad, but i don't know if anything he did was all that good either, and weather he was actually trying to make a positive impact, or weather he was doing all the things he did for an ulterior purpose (especially in recent years) still leaves a huge cloud of doubt over my mind.. He honestly did get extremely jealous when Bob from the park was able to breed the monitors that Steve himself wasn't capable of, and in my opinion someone dedicated to the environment and conservation would never have had these feelings, only feel joyous and relieved that they are finally breeding in captivity which means there will always be a future for them (in the wild or not) and this alone shows me how dedicated he was to the animals.. Also thought it might be interesting to know that a Burmese python power fed can reach 6-8 feet within its first year of growth and fully grown can reaching 8m (25feet) and weighing in around 170-180kg and usually big enough to eat their owners.. It is not good for the snake to be power fed to accelerate growth,and that was just an example, but still it is normal and healthy for a Burmese with a proper weekly feeding (not over or under-fed) to reach 10feet after 3-4 years and I don't see any reason a healthy burm would be under 10 feet in length at three or four years of age unless it is being starved. At 10 feet a couple of chickens a week is... well.. bird feed.. Peace out jono, don't take it too hard with us "anti Stevo's" out here. What exactly did the man do for barrow island???? as far as i know he brought it to the attention of naturalists (and oil companies) where the naturalists have now recognised 25odd plant and animal species that occur no where else in the world, as well as allowed the oil companies to drill 900 oil wells across the island with 400 still producing today.. Man its not the way Steve physically handled his animals that makes gets all pissy and moany its the fact that it was always more about him than it was the animals, its that he would purposely mislead the public to believe something that he knew to be bullshit, and would take credit for other peoples work to big note himself. I don't know much about Harry Butler but from what i do he seemed more dedicated to his work, and a hell of a lot more genuine, and that is why he hasn't made docos for many years because he is dedicated to his work and not to a ego-boosting capitalising way of life..

Dude just for public knowledge every single person at the Australian Reptile Park at Gosford had a huge disliking for this bloke.. He not only underfed practically all his reptiles, he time and time again spread mis-information about reptiles, about breeding, and also stole the credit from those that actually been successful where he wasn't, and also those that had gone before him and deserved the credit.. He wanted to be the only person in the 'reptile business' and that's why he never gives credit to others, always was the be all and end all of any topic on reptiles and also why he fooled the public into believed he was the king of the buis and actually knew what he was talking about.. It was only ever about image with this man, he underfed his animals to save money and amazingly at one point had to send a young Burmese python to the Gosford park because he couldn't figure out why it was sick and in a really bad state... it was sick and in a really bad way because it was being fed a rat a week.. occasionally two where it should have been fed AT LEAST a couple of full grown chickens a week.. He even told everyone a while back that it was impossible to breed ridge tail monitors only because he himself couldn't get them to breed, and when Bob from Gosford reptile park made it public that Steve was full of shit and a dick head to boot Steve took him to court because he claimed that the monitors have 'genetic defects' that make it impossible for them to breed and that Bob was lying to scar his reputation.. Bob subsequently won the case after proving that he had successfully bred these monitors, and in the meantime Steves right hand man was taken off the witness stand because he was actually in Germany WATCHING them breed.. Honestly, everyone in the general public that knows squat about reptiles think Steve was a guru and messiah and there was never a better, more knowledgeable man to trust about reptiles.. And everyone that actually does know about reptiles, thought the man was, although a good showman, the worlds biggest douche, and could barely believe that the public would blindly follow his adventures with awe, and believe everything he said.. But they did know why the public followed him with such high regard, its because when he said things it did sound like he knew what he was talking about, and he put on that good a show well he must know what hes on about, and it only left a small minority who knew the truth, and that small minority were involved reptile keepers around Aus. It was only ever the general public that loved Steve and it was only for his show boating and arrogant character that they did! Everyone that had and has a honest passion for reptiles thought he was a dick and wasn't fit to run his own park let alone make the doco's he did..

For Anyone interested in growing some A.Decurrens (green/black wattle) i have heaps of seed, freshly collected a few weeks ago, and was/am planning on donating it to the FSR but thought i might add a post to see if anyone is interested.. Its powerful astringency causes it to be extensively employed in tanning. ---Medicinal Action and Uses---Medicinally it is employed as a substitute for Oak Bark. It has special use in diarrhoea, mainly in the form of a decoction, the British Pharmacopoeia preparation being 6 parts in 100 administered in doses of 1/2 to 2 fluid ounces. The decoction also is used as an astringent gargle, lotion, or injection. A liquid extract is prepared from the bark of A. arabica, administered in India for its astringent properties in doses of 1/2 to 1 fluid drachm, but the use of both gum and bark for industrial purposes is much larger than their use in medicine. The bark, under the name of Babul, is used in Scinde for tanning, and also for dyeing various shades of brown. Peace

It was in full bloom about 2-3 months ago, has not a one flower on it now (that i can see) and i think it hasn't for about a month.. It is producing seed like crazy and thought id collect some while i can..

I did receive one letter from customs once which i never signed (and was never asked to), and i would never ask the supplier to deliberately mislabel it as to get it through, Im really glad i asked here before actually going through with the transaction because i sure as hell cant afford a few thousand dollar fine, hell i cant even afford this plant (legally) that i have been so keen to add to the collection.. Ok.. So live plant's (e.g. a living cacti) is horrendously wrong to import, but with things like live plant material (seed) is generally overlooked and un-important?? Why?? I can understand that some places are have concerns with over harvesting of wild specimens and this would, to a small extent, help the situation, and also there are some pests and/or diseases that may come through with the plant, but if the seed is freshly harvested from the mother with pests or disease's wouldn't it be fair to assume that it is just as possible for these to carry with the bag of seed??? So can i be slapped with that fine for importing seed here, as seed, in my opinion, is live plant material and falls under the same laws?? Anyways thanks for the great advice all i was so close to telling him to ship it and now i think i should maybe pull my thumb out and grow 1 from seed for myself.. Peace
