Sounds like it would beat the shit out of easter too. Eggs and little fluffy baby rabbits sounds like spring to me, not autumn. bah

loph seeds... who wants in on a bulk buy?

Hey, sorting 1000 loph seeds of different varieties isn't easy. It took me and a newly acquired, (after the great seed dividing night) friend the best part of three hours to sort the seeds out. All done now, will post off in the morning. As I didn't have a stack of little pastic zip lock bags they are all wrapped in glad wrap and then paper - with the variety on the paper. These are all then inside a bigger piece of paper and will tomorrow be wrapped in bubble wrap and popped in a hardcore yellow envelope. I got all paranoid reading someone elses post about shitty seeds arriving in glad wrap <gulp> im sure they will be fine, you will all just need to be delicate unwrapping them - as we were in packaging em! peace all meanies

loph seeds... who wants in on a bulk buy?

I like the idea of the thread and you know it would be fking nice to get these seeds flowering one day and sharing the seed around for no money. Well at least to members of the community and like minded's out there. back to the thread though, i am totally up for that. Would definately contribute. I should really be sorting out all your seeds right now too... woops busted. I need to get some plastic satchel bags first or something.... will be sending em divided up in padded envelopes. love m

loph seeds... who wants in on a bulk buy?

Hey all, What a top response! This opportunity has now passed for anyone who got in too late. The seeds were sent from earth alchemy on friday. I expect I will have time to sit down and do the sorting/packaging toward the end of next week. Those who have already paid will be first in line for being such trusting souls! I'm pretty stoked that we are all getting a good amount of seed for cheap! Here's too growing loph's hey! Anyone needing more info or whatever to pay me please pm me. Also yeah!! thats a top idea harry... I would definately be in for that, specially if it's in small amounts!! warmest m

loph seeds... who wants in on a bulk buy?

Hey Mark, we are pretty sorted already I think. this thread has got me thinking that loph seeds should be cheap all the time... maybe we should keep a cheap seed thread going? I'm soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo not interested in making money here. I just have mucho love for loph's and want to graft and adore seedlings myself and figure that it's cheaper to do so bulk style than individually... but yep.. if you post a thread for more seed bruv's I reckon I would be in... just don't get var huizache's cause it's looking like I will have 200 of them!! peace and all m

The seeds I got off you last time were wicked shruman. Were they from earth alchemy? I've also committed to the 1000 seeds and only have two definite takers thus far.. anyone else in?

loph seeds... who wants in on a bulk buy?

excuse the double post.. Yep I have seen that seed list before, (cactus.com) they look awesome! But as you said I doubt they would want to sell 1000 seeds to us! ***************** Yeah, it is a bit weird, maybe they figure that not many are going to want a 1000 or maybe they're thinking, "who's going to count and see if there are 1000 of these tiny seeds?" I dunno... guess it's my risk though.

earth alchemy... unless you know of a better seed supplier. It seems that buying in bulk the prices become somewhat reasonable hey! peace

loph seeds... who wants in on a bulk buy?

one of the following.. straight williamsii or var Huizache or var Las Coloradas or var Mex 54 or var Parras or var weisse Bluete yep I know, thats a bit of a list... at the moment I am thinking var Huizache cause I remember them being recommended in the past. I think that the variety is open until five people have replied/pm'd - so let me know what your preferences are!! after that it's locked in eddie! I think it would be a good idea if anyone that is interested could post a yep on this thread and then also pm me. peace
  17. Thats a real bummer that no-one from the community in NZ is able to give you a hand! At very least you're going to have to give the bloke the $1 and take as many massive cuttings as you can! Hire a trailer or a ute for the occasion.. and like someone else said, if you feel like building a raft out of the cactus and floating over the Australia with it I'd certainly put you up at my place for a bit!!!
  18. Just wondering if it's definitely a pachanoi or if maybe it is a cerus? If it is a pach then I think it would be worth investing the $500-$1000 quoted in the ad to move the thing, provided you have somewhere to put it! As has already been mentioned, you would be able to cover your cost in the re-sale of cuttings/plants! Yewwwwwwwwwwwwww!

    2007-8 Grafting Comp poll

I'm in for the comp.... as mentioned by other members I think my participation is going to be more of a learning experience than to win. Found the progression of pictures from the last comp awesome - frothed on them for days!!! My Pere's have got about four weeks to look lively then I guess. peace

    Garden bed diary

So what direction does that lovely brick wall face? If it's a north facing wall and you are living in a climate where you get frosts then you have yourself a superb microclimate.... If it is a north facing wall then perhaps putting up a trellis and growing a HBWR up it would be an option? Anything really that loves it hot Khat? dunno... more details on what direction your wall faces etc and how much sun it gets would be good. peace. soz for ramblings w

  23. Hi all, Thought you guys might have some wisdom to impart here. I have tried twice to graft lopho's onto pere's - each time they shrivel up and look terrible. The last one I ended up taking off and then trying again with another seeding. It is now looking decidedly shrivelled. So do I give up on this one also and try again or is this a normal part of the grafting process? cheers

    loph grafts keep shrivelling :(

I think I might also leave my seedlings for a little bit longer next time. The one pictured was about 3 weeks old as I recall, still very small. I'm waiting for my next batch of seeds now to try again. Is grafting bigger loph's onto tricho easier? Does it have a higher sucess rate? I am asking this because I have a 5cm loph that I'd like to graft. Thoughts on that till now have been that I would like to get the baby loph / pere grafting down first before hacking into my big one!
