    we ARE the shamen............

lolz at plants of the gods, damn - me and my friends ate so much cereus peruvianus thinking it was pedro back when we were younger. Such dumbarses and quite funny now that I think about it. Imagine boiling stuff up for 24 hours and drinking it... with the most foul taste. I think the cereus had a lesson for us, i.e. you are not ready yet! This is a really good topic and one that I have pondered since being a member here at the corroboree, how many people come to this site just looking for ways to get off... how many come because they want to learn from the plants and meet other like minded? How many are in between. I know I wouldn't be the same person without the experiences I have had with plants. I am keen to know more and that has increased with my age in years, particularly that I want to know how to use some of them for healing. I see things when I'm in an altered state - often this is in others and I want to know how to use that knowledge. It's a real pity that shamanism, at least with plants, has been forced underground. Perhaps we need to start a 'religion' then at least we can use the knowledge/insights gained without fear of persecution or goal. just some random thoughts. m

    Shrooming???

tend to agree with you there Hunab. It is really important that you are sure of what you are picking. If you are anything less than 100% sure that what you have picked is what you are after - DONT FUCKING EAT IT! Research, research, research and then do a bit more research and then maybe go for a few hunts and see whats around and take some spore prints. Dont just pick random mushrooms that look kinda 'magical' and eat them. Some mushrooms cause DEATH, I'm sure someone else can elaborate but the poisons in Galerina's and death caps cannot be reversed. The only hope you have is to get a liver transplant within something like 24 hours or so... and fat chance of that. Not worth it dudes. Sorry for the rant but really am concerned and think that there is enough info out there to become educated before experimenting. May as well make use of the internet freedom we have at present anyway. Following is wiki stuff on Galerina: How to create a mycomorphbox Mycological characteristics for Galerina sp. gills on hymenium cap is convex ecology is saprotrophic edibility: deadly [edit] Identification The extreme toxicity of some Galerina species means that recognition of Galerina is of great importance to mushroom hunters who are seeking hallucinogenic Psilocybe. Species like Galerina marginata may bear a superficial resemblance to Psilocybe cyanescens and other Psilocybe species. Galerina can be distinguished from psilocybian Psilocybe by the following characteristics: * Spore print color: blackish-brown to lilac-brown in Psilocybe, light brown to rusty brown in Galerina. Spore color can be seen by taking a spore print or by looking for evidence of spore drop on the stipe or on surrounding mushrooms. * Staining reaction: Psilocybian Psilocybe fruiting bodies stain blue to varying degrees when bruised, while Galerina do not. The strength of this reaction varies with the amount of psilocin present in the tissues of the mushroom. Fruiting bodies with little psilocin will stain weakly if at all, while sporocarps with a high psilocin content will stain strongly blue. Only one rare Galerina has blue-staining tissue, though in some cases the flesh will blacken when handled, and this may be misinterpreted as a bluing reaction.[8] Although these rules are specific to the separation of Galerina from certain Psilocybe, since mixed patches of Psilocybe and Galerina can occur, it is essential to be sure of the identity of each sporocarp collected. Galerina also present some risk of confusion with several species of small edible mushrooms, notably Kuehneromyces mutabilis[citation needed] and candy caps (L. camphoratus and allies).[9][10]

    No opt-out web filtering

I'd be interested to know as well. Is anybody staying abreast of whats going on with the no opt out filtering? I probably should use those EULA things rather than just clicking okay shouldn't I! The last internet provider could have said anything, "we reserve the right to access your harddrive when you aren't looking and check if you have been accessing websites deemed to be bad for you, by us". Far out. I don't give a fuck about the porn side of things, I'm way into plants and what they can do for the human consciousness however, to loose the amount of information that has become available through the internet would be a step backwards for me personally - on a very basic level (and I know this has been said a million times before) how does the govo' have the power or right to tell me how to think, what I should do with my time and what I am allowed to be interested in? I think kevin rudds cabinet should all mung some cactus juice and work out their tiny little fears.

    A loph to Trich graft

It's been about a year so far. Welcome to the forums to btw peace
  6. Hey, I can't take any pics cause my camera isn't working, however, my loph's grafted to pere's are now forming roots, (they are still grafted) is this a sure sign of time to degraft? If so, do I cut and still leave a bit of the pere's attached? or do I try and get as close to the loph as possible with the cut? Further, can I then just sit the little guys onto some cacti mix or would I make a depression in the soil so they sit a little below the surface line? They are the caepistosa variety and as such have pups below where the roots are forming.... (gee i wish my camera worked right now!) will this be a problem or will the roots grow around and down past them? Thanks for the help all

    Boomer Season 2009

Not sure if I have shared this elsewhere on the forum... but yep I do get 'the dream' most specifically that I remember was the first time I ever found mushrooms. It's kind of a long story but a friend and I had been hunting around for days looking for sub's. All we had to go on back in those days was a standard mushroom id book. The pictures were actually drawings and had descriptions of things we didn't understand like bastidia etc... the best we had to go on was the type of country, (wet eucalypt forest - which in the end turned out to not be where we found them!). Anyhow, after those several days of hunting for them and finding hundereds of different types we had to leave where we were camping and head home. It was the last night of the camp and we built a massive fire, kinda putting all our hopes in it that had been dashed by not finding any I suppose, all our booze and weed had run out, (I was young and able to smoke back then!) so we turned in early. That night I had a dream. I was back in medieval times riding on horseback. I had one of those knight style helmets on and some other armor. I was riding with my friend through a pine forest and we were in pursuit of the holy grail, (lol - seriously, the actual holy grail). We weren't rich knights, more your average warrior with fairly shoddy rusting looking armor. At some stage we were being chased by some other people sort of royal types who knew we were onto something with the holy grail. Eventually we lost them and I found the grail!!! It was an old metal cup, not bejeweled or anything but we were amazed! Somehow we also had mushrooms, which we commenced to boil up in the cup. Then I woke up. That day my friend and I decided to hitch hike up to a pine forest close by and have a look for amanitas cause I knew they would definately be there having seen them before, imagine my wonder then at finding subs it was amazing.. We picked about 30 or so I think popped them in our top pockets and hitched back. Funnily enough a paddy wagon pulled up behind us and asked what we were doing, we said, 'hitching home' they said 'hmmm okay, hope in the back' so we got a ride home with the police lol. All in all a wonderful first find. peace

peres - loph grafts forming roots

The plants in question did finally grow more roots and are now happily pumping along. see photo attached. Interestingly I have a bunch of other loph grafts from a range of seeds, all of which are about 8 months old... I have recently returned them to their winter home, (under lights) and the same thing is happening again - roots are forming. The interesting bit, (well to me anyway) is that only the caepistosa (sp?) ones are forming roots - this is again while they are still attached to the peres. I definately think it has to do with humidity. I am not concerned about it though. I figure this time I will leave them for a while longer and let the roots kinda hang down a bit more before degrafting.

    Acacia ID

Hey this grows in my backyard. Just wondering if anyone can ID it. It looks alot like the potted A.Maidenii's I have. Thanks in advance. Sorry about the size of the pictures... I could only upload them in the smaller format for some reason.

    trance dance and all that

I have certainly become 'en-tranced' from dancing all night without the aid of any drugs. Not even caffiene. Just being at a psytrance event. The morning after I climbed a massive mountain and returned home feeling blissed out completely! Not tired as I would normally be for staying up way to long but completely comfortable in my body, relaxed etc. Further to this I have experienced liminal states through ritual processes of initiation, (specifically rite of passage work). I agree with you in saying that pushing yourself beyond the comfortable and normal spaces of consciousness, (and it would seem physicalness) are needed to achieve a trance or liminal state. I could go on about this forever but won't - save to say that another very noticable 'part' of being in such a state is the decreased boundaries I had - this includes stuff like openly telling people that I like them (lol) and being more helpful than I normally would also touching people way more than normal - pats on the shoulder, arms etc hugging and whatever. Oh and also that such familiarity with others can happen in a relatively short amount of time... with dancing it was a night, though the effects weren't as profound as initiation work which was over a week. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liminality

Stellar effort on the removal bro's Can't wait to get my cuts. Looks like a really beautiful cactus. I can just imagine those lovely long spines poking the bastard possums that come and try and eat it here at my place
  16. I have had mine for about 2(?) years and they have survived over winter fine, I am just about on the nsw/vic border and am close enough to the coast not to recieve frosts - I don't believe they survive frost however being a tropical plant. Mine have also survived bugger all care over the summer months, often surviving very little watering. I'm actually amazed that they have survived. I kind of gave up on them a little when after doing a little research via the search here that they wouldn't flower this far south... I vaguely recall something being discussed about their southern limit for flowering but couldn't tell you where that was. I think your plants will thrive in southern Qld... Further I recall discussion around the plants not doing alot above ground, (when in pots) until the root system has found it's limits in the pot - also they do much better in the ground. This is all from memory right now and you would need to UTSE to find out more acurate info than is contained in my head. Hope this helps

    Wanted: White Sage

Hey Salem, It would be great if you could strike a cutting for me I used to have a few plants but they all eventually died after being scratched out of the ground by chooks and various other disasters. I never had much luck striking cuttings from the plants I had though.. Planthelpers advice might be the go. I'm trying not to spend too many $ at the moment on plants having just invested in the great Ebay cactus buy, so if you can help out without cost that would be great. Apiana is also one of my favourite plants PH. The last lot I had never flowered though, have any of yours PH? peace edit: $5 a plant is really good value! Thanks for the link Salem.

Nah, none of the ones round here would have it. Last time I bought some was online. Just wondering if anyone in the community here has any. A beautiful plant to grow, and it only takes a few leaves to use as incense/smudge. Anyhow. Ta for suggestion though. m

    Opinions? subs? cubes? liberty?

they aren't subs - or any that you mention in the title of this thread. I've seen whatever they are growing in areas where subs grow though so you might be in the right type of county for them which is a plus. I wouldn't be eating the ones you have picked tho! peace
