How long should cuttings take to root?
Hellonasty replied to spacedracula's topic in Cacti & Succulents
Fenris thats pretty interesting. Regarding the TBM rooting above. My large TBM does some strange things one of which is, any of the sections that are close (within 15cm) to the ground will sometimes sprout roots out of the lowerst areole ! I usually just cut it off and create another plant, no need to wait for rooting etc. After 2 weeks the root system is pretty much sorted. -
How long should cuttings take to root?
Hellonasty replied to spacedracula's topic in Cacti & Succulents
Due to it being so hot and I see your in birssy I would give it some water !! Roots tend not to grow when the soil is bone dry. A "little" water every few days and apart from that forget about it, once you see new growth you have roots. Don't go checking for roots, the more you check the longer it takes. I find it varys a fair bit but in this warm weather I would expect roots between 1 and 2 months. -
Looks like a nutrient defeicency and or shock of bringing it outside. The stem is pretty thin this is probably due to it being inside. I would personally fert, put in total shade, but a nice bright area, and water well for at least a few days. My Obtusifolia was looking like that at the strt of last year and it pulled through. Have a good look at the soil make sure there are no mealy bugs or ants screwing with the root system it is possible since you just moved it outside. Also look for scale or mites on the stems and leaves but I doubt this would be the case. Acacias are generally tough as they come but when young are still vulnerable. Nice looking plant. Edit : Try and keep it out of the wind. Again Contrast between outside/inside that is causing the shock to the plant.

Yeah Searls potting mixes are the go. Especially the seed raising mix ! used it in combination with a little river sand for years for all my cacti and plants. Only problem is I couldn't find any last time I looked. As for water/feed. Trichos will love basically anything you throw at them during summer and the warmer parts of the year, I water mine every day or two.

I would assume they are talking about the actives in kava called Kavalactones. From my research there are 6 known Kavalactones present if an cup of brewed kava. The six of them are demethoxy-yangonin, dihydrokavain, yangonin, kavain, dihydromethysticin and methysticin. My guess is there may be more but I haven't seen an article that suggests this.

Yep scale. Quarantine immediately, they will infest all your plants and cacti if they haven't allready. They can be extremely hard to shake off. Try warm soapy water and a tooth brush and then apply the white oil. give it a fwe days and repeat....few days repeat. Problem is they have this hard shell that makes it difficult for anything to penetrate. Picking them off is good but make sure you remove them or kill them because they just climb back on. Make sure you test the white oil on a small part of the plant first. Has been known to kill.

Hey, Sorry if you guys have discussed this before. I did search. I have procured around 4ml of very very strong blue lotus oil. I got it for free so i'm not too worried about how quick it goes. My question is how do I work with this oil, as to avoid overdose but at the same time obtained desired effects. I hear this can be tricky. I have heard a carrier oil is essential do you people agree ? What about ingesting it..... possible ? I would love to hear from Hebrew !! Thanks.

My new cacti- Gymnocalycium Friedrichii var-???
Hellonasty replied to naja naja's topic in Cacti & Succulents
Hey ace I agree they area dime a dozen in the cities but I rekn a nice big one would be pretty awesome. Only ever seen small, just grafted, of these. -
Ok back on topic. You will definetly get a 'noticeable' effect from 30 active Catha leaves. As others said how old is the plant ? My catha is about 2 years old and prob just over a metre tall. If I roll about 6 leaves, of average size say 10cm long, into a quid within about 15mins a very 'noticeable' buzz and pulsing in the head can be felt. Definetly a stimulant feeling. If the dose is repeated the stimulating properties don't really increase but a more intoxicated high is felt. What strain is the plant ?

As you said a wacky idea, sounds good in theory :D

Creach, as far as I am aware sophorae is under the A. Longifolia group, didn't know people were debating this. Commonly called Coast Wattle. Found everywhere on the east coast of N.S.W ohh and as the others said i'm sure it's a sophorae

do any of these acacia sp. contain dmt?
Hellonasty replied to oracle's topic in Australian Native Plants
I would say many of them would contain tryptamine alkaloids. The problem is hardly any have been tested. -
Yeah there was double demerit points but that does not relate to drink driving. They advertise speeding and seatbelts only !! 0.65 is only low range I rekn a fine 500ish. Because it was easter the magistrate could add 3 or 6months los of licence. Only a guess depends how angry he/she is. Good luck EDIT: ohh and NO crim record for first time low range...., Case law

These little fellas pop up in my back yard in numbers every time it rains a good amount. At first I just thought they were flowers that had fallen from a tree then on closer inspection I saw they are connected to the ground ! I had a look around and found these little brown pod things around the place and the flower looking things are growing out of the pods. I'm in sydney if that helps any. Oh and I took these shots today. Any ideas ? Funny looking things.

I have used a strong calea resin and valerian root with great results. I find I have several powerful vivid dreams where I wake up suddenly, it can be a little frightening

Its not just about light duration or heat that makes a plant grow more in the summer months. Under lights your TMB will not grow like they can and do in the warm aust summer. Air pressure also plays a huge part in when a plant will actively grow, I would personally just leave it to nature. I'm not saying you will not get a little extra growth because you probably will but cacti have grown for thousands of years in the natural seasonal climate and they area pretty used to it and its not like we don't get enough sun. Patience my firend

It's a period of time where a crime is no longer punishable ! And Australia is not like the US !!!! the only matters in Australia (Particularly N.S.W) that have a statute is minor traffic matters like speeding etc and that period it 6months. For the remaining "criminal" matters such as you speak of above there is NO limit. The only other limit we have australia is for arrest warrants and that is 20 years !! If you can escape the law for 20 years after a warrant has been issued then your free One particular point of interest regarding your above comments. As far as bioassay goes there is no law in NSW and i'm pretty sure this stands for the rest of aust for the past use of any illegal substance. So there is no dramas in stating what you ingested in the past, the law states the prosecution must prove "Future Use" so admitting past use to cops or even in court will have no legal ramificiations.
