are SEEDS allowed into australia from abroad? if so then i am down.
-
i use straight sand now as well, never had mold problems either. seems good until they get a little bigger then i fertilize or repot.
-
easier than lophs? that depends on climate, they do not do well in the tropical sun!!! they like it warm but not hot. they can grow quick-ish but they can die from over heating easily as well. that is the #1 killer of ariocarpus here.
-
ya no doubt. 15 years old here will get 10+ cm.... but those prices don't seem too bad, not cheap but ok. a grafted one here that is 5 cm is about $60 (aud). own roots/seed grown are more $ here.

i use flouros for starting my seeds, way better germ rates!

cuttings may get through better not having any dirt/rots/pests etc?
-
i think you need 1 per specie, no?
-
if customs saw pests they would destroy the entire package, not take 69 seeds....
-
i dont think cites matters to australia, seems they dont let shit through if they see it. if i get any flowers/seeds i will let you know! but my biggest plants are only about 40 cm so it may be a while! rumour has there is a titty cactus en route to someone in this very thread. if it goes through ok perhaps he can post and supply people with cuttings the the land of OZ

i ordered quite a lot a few years ago from them. i had a great experience with them, but their payment methods sucked (i used western union, fucking expensive!) i ordered a bunch of cacti seeds and some succulents, all were great except their T. bridgesii. 0/200 sprouted! on the flip side i had 100% from all the lophs, pachanoi and tershekii. in fact i just planted the last of that order a few days ago i would say good company. shipping was around a week if i remember right.

thats how they grow in the wild here too, fall on the leaves/grass etc under the trees and germinate on top of everything. but there are a ot that don't germinate there as well...

well i open my mouth and i get one rotting today! it has been very wet though. not moist, not humid not anything but WET. it was a 1 cm cutting with a .5cm loph on it...both are dead now
-
i cut them, stick them in dirt and put them outside. very warm here and the rains have come. 3 days seems about right, WET and warm, they are doing great!
