Awesome HD - thanks heaps. I wondered how they went - I seem to recall (although this is going back a while) that a couple of the fruits probably had predatory cateprillars in the seeds... They came from Bruxner Park in the escarpment above Coffs H..... Would be nice to meet you in person one day - u still have the property in the hills of the Mid North Coast??

A great plant with very many uses, animal fodder, material, paper, rope, fabric etc. medicinal and edible and also very nutritious
I have made teas from it and have made nettle gnocchi, have heard it is a decent spinach substitute but haven't tried it like that yet, next time i am thinking of using it in a veggie lasagna, also think about getting a bucket of it next time i go for a bush walk out that way and try make a nettle beer, i have read it is good for the liver and liver problems so sounds good for a brew : )
Have also read that it is a powerful antihistamine and useful treatment for asthma and such things ( may be good for the poppy tea drinkers who don't like the itch ? )
Urtica incisa - also an amazing basis for compost tea - amazing growth promotant very rich in silica..
Presence indicates good fertile soils

Hey Wile
Good on you and others for showing such concern and motivation to protect these sacred groves from destructive pillaging. I can probably help out with exploring some of the legit pathways required.. respect!!

Hey Wile and others,
I guess camera traps could potentially be useful in this instance, but it is all on public land and, to be kosher, would require the go-ahead of NPWS, Crown Lands and possibly Port Mac Hastings Council... Renegade camera work could be useful to help identify perpetrators (or at least monitor human visitation), but doubt that there is a particularly good single site (or sites) from which to strategically monitor.. The area where the desecration occurred had quite a well-trodden path to it - indicating to me that there had been a fair amount of coming and going over the preceding weeks and months.... Some of this foot traffic was likely to have been Communacacian... The bark removal is such a disturbing act, particularly because I understand phyllodes are a goer...
I use Reconyx cameras extensively to great effect - mostly for biodiversity purposes but do pick up people periodically, some of whom should not be where they are.. Actually identifying an unknown individual is well-nigh impossible.. but, with good camera placement, at least you get an image of the person.
peace..

My oath it is.. I daresay that there are multi and trans-dimensional consequences for such conduct..
For those looking at this, and possibly even those actually responsible for such desecration (which happened early this year), surely harvesting phyllodes or other spice-bearing material is the way to go.. And good on Communacacian and ors for cultivating this special and spectacular plant...
I reckon the spirit of the brothers has been agitated by such conduct.... deep time and space magic has been sullied...
