Im pretty sure its a sandpaper fig, especially if the underside of the leaf is raspy. Its a favorite of the wompoo and brown pidgeons around here. The fruit at some stage could be yellow as it ripens

I think what they have been refering to is the mustard bean. Not sure if its any relative of the mustard we eat. But when I was in Cairns the PNG ladies there sell the betel nuts with the powdered lime and an ugly looking bean. Much like our beans but covered in little bumps. I think its the ingredient that makes your teeth go red. Cos I have had the nuts and lime plenty of times and only manage to get an orange coloured spit. Still very effective tho. Dont suppose you have any nuts to trade or sell

Hello everyone. I have been giving this a fair bit of thought lately and to me it makes sense. I know as prob do lots of you guys do about planting seeds and harvesting my plants in tune with the phases of the moon. But what I have been wondering is, is there also maybe a cycle connected to the moon with using my plants. Like is is best to use some kinds of plants and will they work better during certain phases of the moon, and visa versa. Cant wait to hear from anyoneAm I even on the right track?????? has anybody heard about planting and gardening during certain phases of the moon?

Sorry to but in, but I am confused. I recently recieved a nice cutting from SAB, and have followed instructions. Now it has come time to plant. I too am wondering which way is up. So I read this thread and Mark80 said the aerole should be slightly turned up for the correct way to plant and then Ace said they need to be slightly turned down.
And seeing as my new little baby came all wrapped up the spines are pointing all over the place, so I looked closer and saw that the area from where they protrude are all pointing slightly up (or down) in the same direction. Which is what I hope you guys are taking about (the aerole). Can anyone help

Psychotria daphnoides
Prier I saw that you included this plant in your native psychoactive list. Is there any chance that you know what alkoloids it contains or anything else really about this plant. I can't seem to find anything about it in the forums. I found a few plants in the mountains on the weekend, I was wondering if you or anyone else could help

I know thats where I got a taste for them, but thanks anyway

thanks shruman I have and I was also able to get them from BB botanicals as well. But I much prefer the fresher nuts, as apposed to the dried ones. The fresh ones are just so much more fun!

Just wondering if anyone knows of a good local (brisbane) source of fresh betel nuts. I don't have mush to trade just yet so would like to offer cash. Can anyone help?
