    Spore Prints for Sale

Don't let that stop you. You'll always be a novice until you give it a go You may fail the first, second and even third try but you'll learn heaps along the way. The journey is just as important as the destination.

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you... What ya got planned? Big ethno bing! hehe Hope its a good one for ya.
  5. Scelly is fairly slow growing as I understand it. My cuttings are certainly living up to that rep. Most of their growth is done during the colder months so I've read, see how they go this winter. Also including the roots is an important part of the fermentation process so you pretty much have to sacrifice it for the greater good. They take well from cuttings so this is not at all the end of the plant.
  6. Hmmm... Saw another patch today as I was driving to work. Its flowers were definatley violet and the stems looked almost black. Might have a closer look when I get the time.

    Two questions yet again

It does seem like a waste of time. Find out soon enough I suppose Gluck Sphinx

    Two questions yet again

Aren't you supposed to incubate in darkness after casing until myc starts to show through the casing then expose to light?

    Two questions yet again

Where do you want to add the H2O2? If its in the fruiting chamber it doesn't really matter just splash some in the water mix and add to the perlite, maybe 10ml per liter of water. If it is in the casing mix then remember peroxide is decomosed with heat so it will have to be after PCing. Not sure on how much to add though. To much will retard the myc growth through the casing. I'm not actually sure if its even worth putting it in the casing mix as it would react with the organics and disipate rather fast I would think. I don't think I would add it to the casing if I were to do it. I'd just PC and focus on keeping a clean fruiting chamber. Like I said once myc has its hooks into a substrate the risk of contam reduces a lot. So case, incubate again and patch if necessary then once the myc has grown through nicely, fruit ! Mistakes are part of learning so don't be discouraged if you make a few. You'll know what not to do next time

    Two questions yet again

Assuming its the mushie species I'm thinkin of fruiting temp is about 10 deg C lower than spawning temp, which puts it at about 19 deg C. Difuse light is ideal I think. To much light may push up the temp maybe and dry out the cake/case. Yep casing must be sterilised, at least 1 hour in a PC is best. Hydrate mix and PC. No need to use sterilised water, just add some peroxide to the water, will do the same thing. Once colonised, cakes are fairly resestant to contam. I assume the same is true for cased spawn. You should still be as clean as possible to reduce risk as much as possible and you don't really want to many nasties getting in there if you want to do some sterile prints or take cultures from the best of the best. Gluck

    Pressure Cooker question

Which valve are you talking about, pics would help. Sounds like the over pressure valve is leaking. Its supposed to do that when the pressure gets to high. However its a good idea to replace it if your not sure. The over pressure valves aren't expensive so you might as well to be safe. What make and model is your PC?

    Syringes

I've mentioned this in another thread but here it is again. Any place that supplies meds for horses will stock syringes and tips. This includes certain pet shops, vet supply shops, vetinary clinics and places that cater specifically for horses such as horse land/world or what ever its called. The pet shop I got mine from had quite a variety of plunger sizes and tip gauges and lengths. They were cheaper than anywhere else as well. The chemist I went to chasing them had the plungers but not the tips, he implied that no chemist stocks tips and suggested I try a pathology lab hehe. Some chemists might stock them though but a pet shop is prolly a safer bet.

    Water on Mars

Maybe there is no life out there. I think everyone is fascinated by what lies in the stars and beyond... If humanity as a whole were more in tuned with themselves, things would be a lot clearer. Maybe its our purpose to take life to the stars. That being said, in the vastness of space there are no doubt a number beyond characterisation of watering holes much like our own that would support life as we comprehend it. Let alone all the possibilites for life out side the box so to speak. Life finds life when is ready. Read tomorrows news paper... we ain't ready! Meaning of life 101 thanks to a teacher
  16. What makes you say it isn't a bernhardii? The key at Erowid; "Plants with purple tinge, flowers violet. Fruit spiny. var. tatula Purplish coloring of plant weakly pronounced. Form tatula (or Datura tatula) Purplish coloring of plant strongly pronounced. Form bernhardii (or Datura bernhardii) Fruit not spiny. var. godronii" You can see there that bernhardii is characterised by strongly pronounced purplish colouring, which you can see in the pics it certainly has. The shoe seems to fit...
  17. As an after though I realised that I have a 2 mature pods, 1 from each patch, that I am trying to dry for the seeds. Here a pic. As you can see my camera really sux at close up shots so the image isn't focused perfectly, but you can make out how the spines are different as well as the pod shapes. The one on the left is from the bernhardii from what I can tell. Looks very similar to the pic on Erowid. I hadn't labeled them and didn't know which pod came from which patch till now.

    Datura pods

The one on the left is from a bernhardii and the one on the right is from a stramonium
  19. Here you are Torsten, some pics of what I think is the bernhardii. Camera's crap at close shots, best I could do. Shows the deep purple stem though. I laid the plant down to try and get some light on the stem to show the colour properly. This shot shows leaf shape and flower colour, even though its closed you can see it has a violet tinge against the white tiles. Whada ya reckon?

awesone shit to do with PC... suggestions

Go have a look at Dicksmiths or Jaycar. They have kits and cards for that sort of thing. If you want a basic setup, to do it a bit cheaper and don't mind getting your hands dirty its the way to go.

    Casing question

Not to sure where I came up with the connection with flushing and a flush. I thought I read it somewhere, might have been an assumption as well. I've looked at out door grow teks and noticed that sterility was fairly lax, which seemed strange at the time. Contam hasn't been an issue for me so far, all the precautions and protocols are followed which is why I'm not concerned with contam. CE is Controlled Environment. A CE can mean a lot of things I suppose, in my case it means indoors in a setting as close to the "ideal" environmental conditions for the species as I can manage. I guess there are many factors that trigger fruiting... light, CO2 levels, moisture, humidity and temperatue. However in a CE all those conditions are right; before, during and after a flush except moisture levels in the cake/case which fluctuates according to which stage its at. As the medium dries the fruiting slow/stops until its re-hydrated and the next flush can start. So from this point of view in a CE, dunking can been seen as a trigger. At any rate its used as one. Thanx for the clarification chilli, on the same page just talkin a different language Knew what casing is but I have also seen the cased cake and container its in refered to as a case as well. Learnings fun
  22. Actually I miss labeled the bernhardii, its actually Datura stramonium var tatula form bernhardii. I didn't realise there were so many varieties of Datura, must went cross eyed Not sure if I am allowed to use the pics from another site without permission so I'll do one better, link to the page with the pics Classification Key for the Genus Datura - Datura stramonium It looks like bernhardii is the common form of Datura, at least arround here.
