... there ya go mate. Toodeloo. Now, on with the competition!
-
newageshaman that's beautiful, that reminds me also probably one of the first ethnobotanicals I attempted growing. Down south winter temps had other ideas though.. bullit, move on mate no more nuts or dicks please ! the joke is over, and it made me laugh several times through what was a pretty sad day. Looking forward to hearing some more plant stories!
-
Impressive work team thanks for playing. Some "number-crunching" needs to be done but finalists have been contacted via pm. See original post for rules for round 2!
-
Mods have given the green light to this, although torsten asks entrants to please turn ISO down as far as possible and perhaps use a tripod if in low light situation.
-
For those entrants unencumbered by penii boobs shall suffice, provided they are adorned with tasteful lipstick written slogan e.g. SAB 4 LYF, WE HEART TORSTEN etc

Yep you wanna get a bunch of healthy root tips growing before inoculating. girdle root suckers with twist tie, air layer with sterile medium, once you have roots simply dip in inoculant (dried truffle cut with vermiculite in blender) and pot on into sterilized soil. Ensure high pH to optimize and select for truffle growth.

hi ph ive recently been looking into the same thing although haven't heard of T. lyonii. There are a few cork oaks around here but i missed acorn season. Will try grabbing a couple of vigorous looking epicormic shoots to try propagating, if I manage to I can send you some. I have a small slice of dried tassie black truffle i could send you for inoculant (i think this one maybe about to germinate) paradox im going to bother you in PM

very nice, flowers remind me of Tetrabaculum but leaf certainly doesn't look like it..

obtusifolia flowers I have seen were much paler and not so tightly spaced on flower axis.. and tips of those phyllodes look rather acute. but then there is that sign.. weird. edges of young phyllodes have crusty resin?

Moghadam, A. R. L., Ardebili, Z. O., & Rezaie, L. (2014). Effect of indole butyric acid on micrografting of cactus. African Journal of Biotechnology, 11(24), 6484-6493. this was posted by hookahead in another thread but it may have been overlooked by many.. results look fucking sweet! lets experiment

very fucking interesting, yes distantly related Family but should work? Artificial synthesis of interspecific chimeras between tuber mustard (Brassica juncea) and cabbage (Brassica oleracea) and cytological analysis Interspecific chimeras between tuber mustard and red cabbage were obtained by in vitro graft-culture method. Before grafting, 6-day-old seedlings of tuber mustard and red cabbage were vertically half-cut and treated with different concentrations of 6-BA and NAA for 1 min, then, they were symmetrically fit together. As a result, sectorial chimeras were initially produced from the united shoot tips. The maximum frequency of chimeral bud formation reached 6.33% when the vertical sections of tuber mustard and cabbage were treated with 2 mg/l 6-BA and 1 mg/l NAA. When sectorial chimeras were propagated on MS medium containing 1 mg/l 6-BA, periclinal and mericlinal chimeras gradually developed. Chimeral shoots were rooted on half-strength MS medium containing 0.1 mg/l NAA. The rooted chimeras were acclimatized and transferred to the field for cytological and morphological analysis. The results showed that stomata density in the chimeras was significantly higher than that of their parents, while chloroplast size, starch grain size and number were intermediate between the two parents. The chimeras were further analyzed by flow cytometry, and the results indicated that they contained both sets of parental chromosomes. Moreover, chimeral plants possessed valuable characters from the two parents.

yep it can be mixed into melted lanolin. i suppose you could smear a bit on top of the scion, and it would work it's way down through the tissues.. im putting a few seedlings on the chopping block tonight.

andy how are you applying this shot of IBA? via watering can? the solution I can buy off the shelf must be diluted 40 times, i think most people reading will regard this as a low concentration. modern.shaman do you actually have anything to offer to this thread? if you are merely here to be a negatron could you at least be entertaining whilst you're at it? do you understand how they applied the IBA treatment? I dont think they were growing the plants in PGR containing medium, in which case 100mg/L would be very high even for rooting. rather I am going to wildly assume that the IBA was applied somehow topically to the graft union, or the stock plant watered with the solution..
-
experimenters please note the optimum concentration was pretty low, 100 ppm, or 100mg/L. so if you have a 4g/L IBA solution, take 2.5ml of that and make up to 100ml with distilled water. you may want to PC it for 15 mins to avoid introducing pathogens, but im going to try it using fresh unopened bottles of IBA and water.

I'm lighting up a three skinner right now just to offset your prickly juju magical9, hoping this should make things right -

magical9 you are a bit of a dick. you should be sorry for needlessly destroying a beautiful and rare specimen because of impatience and arrogance, not for being inferior to the more experienced people that came here and have kindly and patiently given you advice. dunno man.. now i dont want to come across as encouraging underage drug crime with my following advice.., but, are you smoking enough weed magical9? See if you can replicate this experiment. What you wanna do is try punching a couple of cones of your towns highest quality marijuana. first thing every morning. for a couple of months. And just let the cactus do whatever the fuck they wanna do for a while. Chill the fuck out, then once you run outta choof and money and remember where you left your plants go and check them out. You'll bee like, fucking hell I totally forgot I even had a fucking TBMC now its gone and sprouted a rainbow coloured chimera with that lophy its rubbing up against, fuck yeah wheres the mix lets celebrate.. but probably just growing up a bit will do wonders for you. -
okay i have dug through the archives and it looks like it came up in a batch of bridgesii seed courtesy via nooker beeker wonder if i can make it grow tubercles

mate that graft was never going to work, what a shame to lose so much propagable material in under one week. should have only grafted the very top 1/5, so much easier to get even downward pressure with smaller scion. there was plenty of sound advice in this thread you seemed to disregard. whilst it doesnt look applicable in this case, I found good dosing with dual systemic fungicides Tebuconazole and trifloxystrobin to dramatically improve the health of my struggling variegated trichocereus this ragged half tip i grafted at start of winter outdoors is just about to push out a new shoot.. -
yes please! started some of these from koehres last year with a number of other tricho's, only lot i lost en masse. keep close eye on them i suspect they are more sensitive to damping off
-
some older pics of this cutting on graft
-
its a weird one hey, slow growing even on graft because keeps putting out pups. I forgot to mention that bridgesii seed was also amongst the mixed up seedlings. growth on graft is quite different to what you see here, not so interesting, will get a pic today.
-
anyone have a shit load of healthy pereskiopsis cuttings they wanna trade for cash or cactus?
-
looks like its coprophila or something close, havent had a chance to examine any further..
