  1. Castro was a dictator who crippled his country's economy and has continued to jail dissidents.

It would be nice to think Cuba could undergo fair and democratic elections, but methinks Castro's fascist influence runs deep.

actually... the usa crippled cuba's economy

and... do u think cuba should undergo fair and democratic elections like iraq and afganistan should?? maybe we could invade cuba and make them do so??

  2. No worries :) I'll be back in a minute, just going to the bathroom to wash my hands of this mycology business. Apparently my advice only works in my house where a completely different set of natural laws apply. Lucky me

Listen to Hypha, he knows EVERYTHING! I'm off to boil a pot of water in my freezer to make some tea.

Good luck with the bird seed

    lol, thats funny

  3. I have them in glass jars, covered with foil, which is all inside a 50lt plastic container. I have underneath that an electric blanket constantly on level 1 which keeps it at around 27-28°C. It is in a room in a corner with a window along the same wall so it does not get any direct light at all, though I have read that mycelium prefers absolute darkness so this may be my problem, the little light getting in.

the jars will get way too hot if you burn your house down

  4. ummmm anything that ever has or will ever be eaten is what god eats.

ummmm, how many times do I have to say this, god eats krill... or, maybe the souls of krill... but defiantly krill in some form

  5. i might hijack this thread, since the seeds have been given away :) i will shortly have rooted cuttings of this species, and am offering 3 lots of 5 for $15 each, including postage.I guess, $18 for express post. (or trades ofcourse) pm if interested.

  6. The current keyboard layout was actually designed to slow typists down so that typewriters could actually work, which is also a good analogy to how windows slows down hardware nd makes it less efficient... So it's little wonder a windows user would be so sneering towardss the more efficient and effective dvorak :P

better playing games on slowed down hardware, than not being able to play games at all on fast hardware?

  7. go linux xipe i love linux too

i have no idea what this dvorak is. will have to look it up

i was being sarcastic...but I have no doubt linux has some great benefits, I have never been bothered to set it up on a pc. I got an old pc, which I was going to put an old linux on, and have a play around with it, but havnt got around to doing it yet.

  8. After reading that the Dvorak Simplified Keyboard layout is generally safer, faster, and more efficient than Qwerty, I decided to give it a go. My normal Qwerty speed is 50 WPM. This is with no formal practice (apart from years ago when I first learnt). It took me about three-quarters of an hour to memorise the Dvorak layout and now, a couple of hours later, I am typing at 13WPM. It will be interesting to see if my speed is over 50WPM in a couple of months when I have become more comfortable with the layout.

Just wondering if anyone else is using this method, or any other alternative layout for that matter.

(Fuck that took me forever to type :BANGHEAD2: )

yes, and I use mini cd instead of mp3, and linux instead of windows

  9. I was skimming through this study on calea, http://leda.lycaeum.org/?ID=16295, when I came across a reference to a couple of references to unidentified oneirogenic plants within the intoduction. The 2 I am interested in were,

    a. " Nahuatl Indians from the Sierra de Puebla use an as yet unidentified species of Salvia, known by the name of Xiwit, for the same purpose (Tim Knab, pers. commun.)"

    b. "The plant known as Bakana to the Tarahumara Indians, which has been reported to be an analgesic, antipsychotic and divinatory agent(Bye. 1979), was later found to be employed for dreaming during night sleep (William Merrill, pers. commun.)"

Does anyone have any information about the identity and use of these 2 plants?

  10. i am personally fucking disgusted that anybody would kill a sea turtles and i honestly don't give a fuck about whoever has what tradition, it is plain wrong in todays world,

    :(

not everybody lives in suburban Australia though.

  11. oops i forget Xipe... I have no idea what your feelings are in relation to long posts, I'm too busy writing them :P What I dont get is why people read a largish body of text and then blame the author, that they didnt feel like really reading it all in the first place

    i dont read them :)

  12. Sorry, I wasn't singling you out. I just was being lazy and didn't read the thread. So yours was only one out of a few posts that I read, not the whole thread.

nah, i wasnt offended... I couldnt be bothered reading all the long posts either... just ask vert what my feelings are in relation to long posts :)

  13. I find the response to this thread bizarre. Everyone here asks for actives, whether they come out and say active, or whether they ask for lophs etc. Also, I honestly don't see why people would see the procuring of actives as a desire to consume. Many, like myself, probably just like the feeling of owning such plants due to the awe surrounding them. I have other cacti, usually as a bi product of buying from local enthusiasts, and for grafting, and I can tell you which I prefer to go out in my yard and virtually jack off over :)

  14. Sorry if this has been covered (I just started reading this thread and don't have time to read the whole thread, but have a strong urge to reply to this statement)...

Does it really matter Xipe? One can win votes by creating a campaign of fear and hatred, or by showing kindness, compassion and empathy. All politicians are playing a game. It is a popularity contest. I know who I'd rather vote for. Also, I don't think a lack of substance makes the gesture any less important. Spreading good vibes is a good thing. How can someone be criticized for righting a wrong?

because it is faux kindness, compassion and empathy, faux good vibes and faux righting a wrong. I find it odd that out of all the posts in this thread you felt a strong urge to respond to mine. As for my thoughts on the aftermath of the speech, I only watched a few minutes of it, but, with all my cynicism, I saw good in it. Why? well, I happened to catch the bit about an 80 odd year old lady, who was taken away in the 30's. Its was quite moving story, and I realised, that as faux as I say it is, it is good that this was such a widely publicised event, which has given an understanding of such occurrences to the general population. Hopefully, it will have a long lasting effect on the country.
