yeah, thats the problem with hobart dug, most of the rain the last few years is always around the mountain... and, as you know, not really any pine trees around the mountain... everywhere else has been so dry

thanks conan, will read that when I get a chance, as far as the chem structure, that was a quote from the book, I actually have no idea of what it chemically resembles.

Here is where I got my belief from... psychedelic encyclopaedia, page 262. "Psilocin, interestingly, is the nearest reletive to bufotenine, once thought to be a psychoactive compound, which was first discovered in the skin secretions of toads..... etc. I obviously have interchanged the words psychoactive and entheogen... I may have been wrong to do this, I dont know. I have never consumed bufotenine, so I can't comment on it's effects.

Ichthyoallyeinotoxism Indoles, with similar chemical effects to LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide) are believed to be responsible and may be consumed when the fish eat algae or phytoplankton containing the chemicals. All of the species effected by ichthyoallyeinotoxism are algal grazers. Has anyone ever heard of the algae or phytoplankton being harvested for this purpose?

I was almost going to mention this, due to the fact that a friend in the states told me of an acquaintance of his that was bitten by a snake while hiding under his house from the cops. He described it as being like acid, with the effects lasting a couple of days(was too worried about cops to go to hospital). Not sure what sort of snake (although there were rattlers in the area) Also, not sure "how much like acid" the experience was.(I suspect that "Like Acid" and similar phrases can be used to describe a large variety of experiences)

I don't doubt that bufotenine produces effects. I just remember reading somewhere that it is not actually classed as a "psychedelic" ( I can only assume that this term and entheogen are interchangeable). Not sure why this is...

hey prophet, I used to pick these alot in vic. I havnt seen them in tas since I have been here. But ofcourse it has been a dry couple of years, and I havnt searched extra hard within pine forests.. I have only looked amongst small outcrops of pines with obvious poor results. Does anyone in southern tas know of some good spots?

I picked up these great cuttings amongst others today. A huge bridgesii Cutting, and also, A huge Scop. Thought you might want to see.

ID for strange Trichocerus
XipeTotec replied to XipeTotec's question in Cactus & Succulent Identification
yeah, the other thread was the same cutting (longer before cutting down) I just assumed it was bridgesii and the question of the ID was raised in that thread, so I began this thread to get the ID, as you pointed out, with better photos. First thread was just to show everyone some nice large cuttings. -
Hi, thought this was a bridgesii, with its colour and shape. Spines face downwards, not as long as other bridgesii I have seen. Cutting comes from a 30 year old specimen. Any Ideas?
-
I had a scop develp black spots (5 cent size) this year. I suspect from being in the sun. Not sure if this is what has happened to you. They were sort of pustuley, but It went on to heal itself with no intervention.

Got this with a load of cuttings today, any idea of what it is? p.s. what do you think of my thumb? Could I be a hand model? (oh, dirt!!! how embarrassing)
-
yeah, the spines are short compared to my other brigdesii...I thought it may have been a short spined variety. I guess it could also be a longer spined peruvianus, although the shape seems more bridgesii. if someone has a more reliable ID, please let me know, I would be greatly appreciative. The specimen it was taken from is about 30 years old if that makes a difference to ID.

yeah, ok, very dumb of me...

Any thoughts on t.bridgesii preperation and dosage. Is it suitable to eat raw? what would a good dosage be for someone having never previously consumed this particular ethnogen? what should someone consuming t.bridgesii expect to happen?
