  1. Thanks for the reminder about these, i should stock my mp3 player with some more from psychedelic salon as they are awesome.

There are some other podcasts out there, Rak's for example, and jan irvine as well. but yeah psychedelic salon is probably the best overall.

  2. AWESOME!!!

I just found out that Wandjina Gardens is located in Mullumbimby, the town in which ill be moving too. Guess there wont be much need to go to all that effort after all. :D

How exciting! Now i really cant wait to hit the road!!!

Lol, i was wondering when youd find out.

Nice to hear you have made the decision you have. Sounded way too stressful for my liking.

Best of luck with the move.

  3. Plants like Banisteriopsis Caapi, Psychotria ssp, Catha Edulis, Calea Zacatachichi and many others would be very easy to source in an area like mullumbimby, and i wonder if they are really worth the heartache and hassle of taking with you.

The cactii and pereskiopsis grafts i can understand though.

I would be curious to know about travelling through SA though as the laws there are very restrictive (http://www.shaman-australis.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=17530). and again perhaps worth considering other options.

I know what you mean about plants being prized possessions, but in life things come and go, and it may just be easier to start over.

  4. I think every book i've ever read has changed my life in some small way.

    Important books for me were:

The Buddhist scriptures (the penguin short edition) - reading this startign at age 6 made a profound impact on my morality and beliefs about the nature of the world. What better start could a kid have. Christianity scared the crap outta me as a kid, staring at that guy nailed to a cross bleeding from his hands feet really gave me the heeby jeebies.

Reading the Teachings of Don Juan at age 14 was also fairly profound, its like cool spiritual sci-fi. Was probably also a bad influence lol. But it got me interestred in anthropology, ethnobotany, and gave me an appreciation for the role plants played in magic.

And then there was the rest of that series that i read over the next three years .... wow.

Dharma Bums and Desolation Angels by Jack Kerouac, was how i felt during my teens years, made so much snse.

Joseph Campbell, "The Masks of God" series, and the audio interviews revealed an amazign inner world to myths and mythology, Alot of us know it, but he was able to very clearly articulate what goes on. Every book by him i thin is incredible, especially his atlas of mythology series. It was campbell that inspired me to really get into the literary canon.

Another book was "the Genus Psilocybe" by Guzman .... I wonder why lol.

The Tao of Physics by Fritjof Capra, also helped meld interest with shamanism, buddhism to modern physics, and how they are different way of looking at the one picture.

Its interesting, but as i get older books have not had a tendency to have as powerful an impact. I think in part life doesnt allow me to become as deeply absored into the narrative. I used to be able to sit and read for whole days, but now with kids, job, life etc. it just cant happen. I guess instead movies have had to fill the gap.

  5. Down South there is Roberts in Huonville. not sure on price comparisons, but they are geared towards Ag, so probably much bettter than the Mitre10.

Nursery supplies (Rock and Sand) there is a place in Huonville, along the river, opposite the fish punt (approx), There is also a place in Cradock that may be better. otherwise there is a place in South Hobart (cannt remember the name).

In terms of scoring sexy plants, try chandlers in Sandy Bay ;)

Bit of a balance between cost and sourcing locally tho.

  6. I think the damange has been done already on other sites, and i wouldnt think this SAB thread would contibute much to the threat already posed.

If anything i think the fact that we publicy demonstrate our concerns and there are very aware and proactive members may be a good thing.

But, the fact that there is damage going on is a concern. It may have been brought up in other threads but what is genetic health of the population, and how much genetic diversity is there. Perhaps a good Honours or even PhD project for some-one here who wants to study molecular ecology.

  7. yeah dont mean to be a killjoy. I guess your right i shouldnt be so cynical.

I've seen two sides of the Posford live experience, him being really into it, being really creative and spontaneous, a pleasure to behold, watching an artist at work at his best, blissing out. as you say Incognito its an awesome thing to see. I just felt that a little too much ego had crept into the shpongle shows.... a little more than was necessary, but still an amazing experience.
