    green fairy absinthe

My understanding is that Absinthe has to contain the essential oils. Otherwise it is not the real thing, i.e. the absinthe vs the absinth thing. anyway, looking at the back of the green fairy bottle we have: Horka lihovina slozeni: lih, bylinny destilat (smes bylin a koreni), cukr, aroma, barviva E133, E102. "All products that have a note "horka lihovina" are meant to contain between 11 and 35 mg thujon and are declated as bitter" (from http://www.absinth24.net/shop/absinthe_glo...a_lihovina.html). When i googled this there was other stuff about it on other sites, going into much more depth, which is quite typical of the degree of complexity in the whole absinthe interest. In the past i have found lots of conflicting bits of information from various experts, so not so quick to believe info about absinthe anymore. from what i can translate of the rest it is mostly alcohol, sugar, flavour, dyes E133, E102. what is "bylinny destilat"? Anyway the point being is that yeah this stuff is pretty fake really with lots of flavouring and colouring. (edit: still got thujone though!!) cheers, Obtuse.

    green fairy absinthe

Hi Yeah i bought some of that green fairy absinthe too. I had been reading a bit about absinthe, and keen to try it, and i saw it in the bottle-o and thought what the hell i'll give it a try. Gotta try these things so you have something to compare against i reckon. but yeah probably won't buy that brand again. I did notice a definite clarity that alcohol doesn't normally have, but there were no other real effects apart from the alcohol itself. except my dreams. I was having a small glass every day for a bit and my dreams during this period became a lot more surreal than normal. A lot of very wierd stuff was appearing in my dreams, and the only thing i can attribute it to was the absinthe. I bought some of the sab "le fee" concentrate / oils, and tried that with the same effects on my dreams. also the same clarifty and also something else i can't put my finger on. after trying the sab "le fee" the green fairy does definitely taste like anise mouthwash or something, so 1/3 of a bottle is still sitting in my cupboard somewhere. I haven't tried any other absinthe's but keen to track some down. I just love the anise flavour anyway. cheers, Obtuse.

Fucking aye EGA!! (from Tarnicus and El Duderino)

Again i think perhaps someone else can answer this question much better than me. It may not have been frontal lobe epilepsy but instead acute temporal lobe epilepsy (can some one else please clarify). He was using it either as a comparison, or suggesting that entheogenic states induced similar types of effects within the brain. He mentioned that people that suffer from this particular type of epilepsy experience religious or profound states of mind, and amongst other symptoms, sudden changes in mood. And that under the effects of entheogens similar experiences are quite common, i.e relgious / mystical experiences. He may have been suggesting that it is quite common and it is in fact this that draws some people to entheogens, because they experience it so readily. I am just summarising some of what i remember, and i too would like this clarified. It was a pity that Dennis was on so late in the day. By that time i was really tired, and finding it hard to concentrate. I kept getting woken at sunrise! I find this subject quite interesting, because in my own experience i went though some pretty weird mental states in my teens, and maybe i was experiencing some form of epilepsy. To then take psychedelics simply felt like an extension to that and was why it felt like such a natural thing to do. :D So some-one fill in the gaps for us please, cheers, Obtuse. (edit: spelling)

Fucking aye EGA!! (from Tarnicus and El Duderino)

I believe it was Frontal lobe Epilepsy to which he was referring. Here is a link to a basic wiki article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frontal_lobe_epilepsy While I remember the basic essence of the talk i cannot go into any detail. There was so much info during that whole weekend, i was a bit overloaded. I'm looking forward to the DVD, or mp3's from that weekend so i can jog my memory. I'm sure some-one else here can go into more detail, or maybe they are like me and still assimilating all that info. cheers, Obtuse.

    visit to Melbourne botaninical gardens

I loved the Melbourne botanical garden when i went to visit only recently. The cactus garden was great. So was the maidenii. But i wish i had known about the heimia. Love to see a mature plant. didn't see the longifloias or floribundas either. damn The brug in the fern garden was lovely too. It was flowering at the time. Next time i'm in Melbourne i'm going to have to make sure i get someone to show me around the gardens. cheers, Obtuse.

  21. We used to think the universe was mechanistic. a giant clockwork machine. But quantum mechanics has turned that on its head. Given some of the amazing quantum paradox's it is certainly not mechanistic. I think in a lot of ways psychedelics help do the same thing with regards to consciousness. While there is the prevailing idea that the brain and body are mechanistic in behaviour, which i do not deny, there is something else, and i feel there is much more to the story which we don't understand. Mine is only an opinion, but we are only just scratching the surface when it comes to understanding consciousness and all its various facets. All philosophy helps. we are all experiencing the human condition. and every little bit of philosophy helps in understanding it and enjoying it. All drugs (alcohol, caffines, lsd, dmt) are research chemicals which we use to understand ourselves. cheers, Obtuse.
