  1. My research said it was a cacti. I understand all cacti are succulents but not in reverse.

Though I'd be interested in other opinions.

Scrap that. Yeah looking now I must have misread something. Just a succ. Funny though cause I used a cacti identification guide to work out what it was.

  2. Interesting to know. I haven't tried grafting yet, but when I do it'll be worth a shot. I'm just amazed how big the bud is. It's like 100mm long. I read some species can get flowers up to 400mm in diameter. I would imagine when this opens it'll be around 150-200mm diameter.

  3. So I took a cutting from home years ago, and now I'm getting a bud.... a huge bud. Can't wait to see the outcome. I found it's a 'stapelia' but I'm not sure what type. Anyways thought I'd share its progress. It just keeps getting bigger. I'd love to let it spread but it's also called a carrion flower. So I might stink.

  4. About 9 years ago now I bought a bunch of cacti seeds from SAB. The only ones that survived the attempt at sowing back then was my Cuzco and Willi. I had two willi's (lol) but a caterpillar ate one and tried to eat the other but obviously got side tracked and forgot what it was doing lol. I tried sowing some LW seeds I got last year off eBay but some critter ripped everything up so I lost my Willi's. I did a search and couldn't find anything around. Can anyone assist or point me in the right direction

i did see one site, but I can't find it again. There was at least 20 variations of LW. Are there different types (ie not diffusa or the other 2).

  5. Looks like a bigger more evolved version of what my cacti has atm. Is that the only one? Just below it there's a smaller brown dot I can see which looks exactly like mine. Are there more or similar things on it. If it's related to the problem I've got it appears it's a fungus due to over watering, or high humidity.

  6. You might have more luck with those sorts of plants thinking of it now. I bought succulent seeds so I was assuming low germination rate at best. Gardenia and jasmine similar type plants probably more abundant and pollinated well. So who knows. Luck of the draw some times, if not all times. Report back. Might make me rethink or confirm my suspicions of Chinese vendors

  7. Drainage can be tricky without levelling equiptment. It's hard to give accurate advice without first hand seeing it flood.

Id find the lowest point on your land, and the highest point the water reaches. Start by digging in a drain from said point a to b. But more so at the edge of the yard. Once you have an outlet at the lowest point you could start putting channels in to make it flow to the drain.
