  1. EGA Webcast - Ketamine-assisted Psychotherapy + The Fly agaric Book Now - Yes Its Free The 16th Microdose Webcast will explore the therapeutic benefits of ketamine-assisted psychotherapy and psychedelic integration. There will also be a second segment the Fly agaric magic mushroom (Amanita muscaria). Registrations for the Microdose Webcasts are free, but donations are encouraged to support EGA's important work. Episode Synopsis The literature on ketamine-assisted psychotherapy has found the psychedelic effects of ketamine to be of therapeutic benefit when adequate psychotherapeutic support and integration are provided following ketamine treatment. Integration is a key component of the psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy model. Come along to our webcast presented by Dr. Shevaugn Johnson and Meg Wilson to learn about the evidence-based applications of ketamine and meta-analyses which compare a single infusion of ketamine to placebo/active placebo for the treatment of major depressive disorder and bipolar depression. The field of psychedelic assisted therapy which also includes ketamine assisted therapy has existed only for a short time in the field of western medicine. Learn about different therapeutic approaches, psychedelic integration and what a clinical ketamine experience may feel like. There will also be a short Q&A on the night. In Addition there will also be a second segment on the flyer agaric Mushroom with mycologist Caine Barlow. Amanita muscaria is the archetypal magic mushroom, appearing everywhere from illustrated children's books, Christmas cards, and garden ornaments to felt representations in community markets. It also carries many myths, representing dark, potent journeys to light, humorous episodes of transformation - from Christian fertility rituals, the Soma of the Rig Veda, the Viking berzerkers, Santa Claus, and Alice in Wonderland. Bio: Eternity Hausen (CEO and Founder) Eternity Hausen founded Enlighten Mental Health in 2020. Bio: Dr Shevaugn Johnson (Clinical Psychologist) Dr Shevaugn Johnson is originally from Canada, where she trained as a surgical and mental health nurse and obtained a bachelor’s degree in psychology with honours. In 2016 Dr Johnson was awarded the Flinders International Postgraduate Research Scholarship to study a Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology. She specialised in the research of body dysmorphic disorder, winning two higher degree research publication awards. Throughout the completion of her Doctorate, Dr Johnson developed a special interest in the use of psychedelics to alleviate mental health problems. Drawing upon a Canadian database, she is currently collaborating with North American researchers to replicate a 2015 population-based study, which found that lifetime use of classic psychedelics predicted lower suicidality and psychological distress. Dr Johnson has also published case reports of individuals who reported to have benefited from their use of psychedelics and is currently working on a protocol for a psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy trial in South Australia. Dr Johnson has extensive experience working with diverse mental health populations, including post-traumatic stress disorder, personality disorders, and substance use disorders. She is a strong advocate for the dissemination of education surrounding the safe use of psychedelics and hopes to continue working with like-minded individuals who recognise the transdiagnostic potential of these medicines. Bio: Meg Wilson Meg was originally born in the United States and migrated to Australia in 2008 to begin studying at Monash University where she completed a bachelor's degree of visual and contemporary art with a special interest in art for social change. In 2016 Meg graduated from Latrobe University with a Master’s of Art Psychotherapy and began a 4-year stint as a group therapist for adults in a psychiatric day-program. There she trained as part of a team facilitating dialectical behavioural therapy programs. It was there that she developed an interest in psychedelic-assisted therapy for treatment resistant mental health conditions. She is also an author and advocate for inclusion of diverse cultures, race, genders, sexuality and relationship-styles. Meg is passionate about providing a space for clients to make informed choices about the use of psychedelics and to feel empowered to author their own life story. www.enlightenmh.org Bio: Caine Barlow Caine Barlow is a Mycologist and Fungi Educator based in Melbourne, Australia. Mushroom evolution

Episode 13 - What can we learn from the evolution of psychedelic organisms? Register Now Wednesday, March 30th Our 13th Microdose Webcast will look at the evolution of psychedelic organisms. We will be joined by Dr. Jason Slot, Associate Professor of Mycology and Evolutionary Genomics at the Ohio State University. Dr. Slot currently researches the ecological functions of psychedelic substances. After this lecture, there will be a short Q&A. Dr Alistair McTaggart will also be providing an update on his mycologist researching the active Psilocybe mushrooms of Australia. Wednesday 30 March 2022 8:00 PM - 9:30 PM (UTC+11) AEST Episode Synopsis Why do many Psilocybe spp. contain psilocybin? What is the role of psilocybin in nature? What are the ecological functions of psychedelic substances? By surveying the genomes of the organisms that produce these substances, we can identify evolutionary trends and events that raise hypotheses about benefits provided by these substances. By extension, this can suggest ecological niches in which to search for new compounds with similar roles. Psilocybin is bringing more and more human attention to these fungi, but did the mushrooms intend for psilocybin to attract us or was it supposed to scare us away? Join Associate Professor Dr Jason Slot, co-founder and scientific advisor for the Entheome Foundation, to discuss functional genomics, metabolomics and the evolution of natural psychedelics. Dr. Slot received a B.A. in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry and an M.A. in Science Education from Boston University. His doctoral dissertation at Clark University, and his postdoctoral work at Vanderbilt University focused on the molecular evolution of ecologically relevant genes in fungi. As faculty of Plant Pathology at The Ohio State University, Columbus, OH, USA, Dr. Slot uses comparative and functional genomics along with metabolomics to investigate the evolution and ecology of fungal chemistry in various fungal niches including plant pathogens and symbionts, insect pathogens, and decay fungi. Pioneering sequencing of psilocybin mushroom genomes in his lab recently led to the identification and evolutionary analysis of psilocybin gene clusters. Dr. Slot is a co-founder and scientific advisor for the Entheome Foundation, a non-profit for the science and conservation of entheogenic organisms. Bio: Dr Alistair Mc Taggart Alistair is a research fellow for the Centre of Horticultural Science (QAAFI), University of Queensland. He studies the evolution of fungal pathogens, with a focus on rust and smut fungi. He has completed postdocs in Africa, America and Europe. Alistair has started a new research direction for UQ, studying the biodiversity of native psychoactive mushrooms in Australia. This research will determine whether Australian magic mushrooms have evolved unique genetic pathways for production of psilocybin and confirm endemicity of our native taxa. Alistair will establish a living collection to safeguard genetic diversity and provide a platform to research the applications of psilocybin for human health. 11. Episode Twelve – Psychedelic secrets: Acacia conservation EGA Microdose Webcast - Click Here to Register Episode Synopsis This episode will explore the complexities of the intersection of Acacia conservation and DMT consumption through discussion of the Conseracacian project. There will also be an introduction to strategies for identifying some common Australian Acacia, with a focus on Acacia acuminata and Acacia obtusifolia. Conseracacian is a participatory action research project responding to a harm reduction issue minimally addressed within policy, media and research, botanical conservation. The project responds to a threat posed by manufacturers of N,N-Dimethyltryptamine (DMT) to a rare species of Australian Acacia. Conseracacian began in 2018 with a discussion thread on The Corroboree (SAB) forum, moving to a group private message on the platform and personal communications between key forum participants. The participants struggled to reach consensus on an approach, deliberating with key stakeholders to create a public messaging strategy with a clear aim – to reduce demand for DMT produced from wild-harvesting of this rare Acacia species by encouraging consumers to preference DMT produced from cultivated sources. Producing a messaging output that met the needs of Traditional Custodians, the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service, botanical experts and the peer community was complex. The negotiated output portrays a public message that conservation relies on prohibition of wild-sourced DMT consumption. However, there is a private message amongst stakeholders that DMT sourced from the wild can be consumed in ways that reduce and even subvert environmental harms. The output also avoids identifying the Acacia species in question and encourages cultivation of endangered Acacia under licence. Strangely, stakeholders also understand that unlicensed cultivation of this endangered Acacia may be crucial to its long-term survival.
