Then a series of dog attacks and the fact I ran out of seaweed fertilizer and sustituted fish emulsion which burnt them (I think). Within 2 weeks I had none.

Do you actually have to have a quarentine house of your own, or can you just use the existing govt. quarentine facilitys. Because even though Im a builder having to construct one would definatley be expensive. Even if I was granted an Import permit it would be an enormus responsibility. I'd hate to instigate another 'prickly pear' incident. After all that I finally got a reply from a local supplier of ginseng seeds anyways.

I got a letter AQIS today saying theyed siezed some seeds I tried to get into the country. 1 packet of panax ginseng seeds and 1 packet of panax quinquefolius seeds, Aparently even though I checked the ICON data base and these were not a prohibited import, a quarentine officer has determined that they are unfit for entry because thay may be damp and perhaps have mould on them. And if I want to return them it will cost $42.50, it only cost $5 to get them here. Can I dispute this? I thought that the icon dbase was set up to aid people not frustrate them. I was watching gardening australia and some plant guy said anyone can set up a quarentine zone in their house. How do I do this? Ive tried googling but it just trawls up the usual 420 pages of shit. The reason I say this is Paullina cupiana, Gurana, seeds are prohibited to import but it is also stated that not enough information is availible on this plant. The next paragraph then states that all applications to import should be forwarded to aqis. I dont know whether to take this as a- write a letter about a potential new herbal product intdustry and we might give you a permit or a go write a thesis and we still probably wont give you a permit. I understand why we have quarentine and respect it. But I dont see why people can seemingly import all the usless pretty ornimental plants they like. But a benign theraputicly useful plant is denied.

I haven't read that but if its true no exotic food crop for me. Damn, I like to eat. However I did read that if you want them to go to seed they must be stressed (i.e bury them for 2 weeks), I wonder if inadequate climate wll do this? Seeds are still good

There is still lophs on there I came across some while doing a vague "plant" search. Give button cactus a go. I agree, I grew mine from seed and ever so slowly there getting larger. Theyre almost family I couldnt consume them.

I just brought some lepiidium meyenii seeds from that big auction site, you know the one. And I want to germinate them. I dont know how hard they to germinate and a search only bought up vague info. So this is how I intended to do it, propagation sand ( apparently their natural soils are poor any way), humidity dome and bottom heat, as per cactus seeds. But because this is from a very cold climate I dont know if bottom heat will do anything or whether I should throw them in the fridge for a couple of weeks. Any help would be good Im already a serial catus embryo killer no need for this species too.

How ya doin. I want to change my on screen name back to bok. Cause a few months ago lightening struck my house and blew up my phone line and computer. Now I got my computer back, and I tried to login under my old user name and was refused. To compound this uq has finally turned my email off so I couldent even request a new password.
