hi, i am sorry to often talk here about the same thing but regarding the internet misinformation , i prefer talking only on what i know. this year will be the begining of a new age for poppy lovers ; tazmanian industry is begining to grow some true geneticaly modified poppy ! do we have to be pleased, i am really not sure...... at first and during the last 10 years they only grew some poppy which were modified by cross breeding. by using the best ps strain and some bractetum poppy they have created the famous taz, norman and his son. at the same time some est european have done the same thing and created the Przemko and mikalkos strain (hungarian) the Extaz and Saphir (pologne, if i am well remembering) another in france etc.... all this strain are taz look alike and are deverllopped for being alkaloid free, or thebaine type, or any other mix they could want regarding usage.(they also sometime use one strain for a different purpose than her first, for exemple; a alkaloid strain for seed harvest and radiography oil production) this is why nobody agree on taz quality, lot of seeds on the market are not the guenine morph type of taz they want. now, the taz industry is tryng to devellop the omg strain on trial greenhouse to test them before selling them on the market in a few years... so, happy or not by this news, try to think about seriously before sawing taz in your garden. ciao

if someone of the communauty works for tasalk then we will maybe have more infos than the abitual annual report. about this, does some of you guys have some interesting info about the evolution of their trial field of geneticaly modified poppies (not the breeded one)

about polycarbonate : remember that a few of or favorite plants need UV to produce the goodies if the space between each part of the frame is too long, then the polycarbonate will move each time you have wind, and ths will create a nasty noize if your house is close to the green house. about film : don't forget to create some sort of windows for ventilation i made a green house with PC a few years ago and my conclusion after using it, is : glass is cheaper and better in my opinion, it is easy to make windows and to replace the broken part you just need to paint it with a white paint, to build it without too much space between the part of the frame and to protect the upper part with a fit latticework on ps; since you seems to be a good "builder" and since you began with a big installation: it could be a usefull idea to put a source of power (to heat during the winter, to control the photo period with light, etc)and eventually a source of water. it is better to think about this at the begining of construction instead of later

One thing about chillies is that lots of fertilizer is not good for them, makes em big but with fewer, smaller fruit. that's interesting and i verified this last year. but it is not completly right in what i read, chilies love to be fertilized with potassium and magnesium but the dosage must be precise. when one of this 2 product is in excess, then the balance is wrong and the result is poor fruits. (also interesting to notice that it is the same thing for poppies. in what i experienced, it is better not fertilizing than fertilizing with the wrong balance . (regarding the final product, not the size of the plant))

yes creach, there was a mistery in the original post because i didn't remember at that time what 's the name of this poppy. and since it is the only poppy which give this kind of pod, i was not stress on the issue. i know that i just need to open a book to find his name. but if you all wants to play, i am ok to test your memory. it is common on coastal condition arround mediterrannée the flowers are yellow the plant is of a somni size but with more pods (maybe 15 per plant) the leaf are strange because hairy and curve black seed (more little than somni) i haver no idea on what could be the result of a breeding with somni but my experience with setigerum is that hiding is often as hard than with somni and potential is often lower in the breeded plant. regarding the gnome, he was happy but not like with somni, not an opiate feeling. maybe more a light mj feeling.

hi all ! i am happy to write again here, and for a come back, what can be better than a poppy topic... i remember a long topic about the best time to plant a few time ago, surely in the archive now. but for european climate : the best time to plant poppy is february / march ( it can change depending on the weather and the place.) poppy germinate officially at 15 °c but i often notice a germination as soon as the temp goes up to 10°c. (and no matter if the nights are really hard ! the poppy seedlings can support the under zero temp) this frost resistance (during a germination stage) really surprised me. was i lucky ? poppy are famous for their resistance to hotness but they are not so resistant ! on the other hand they support ice at young stage and i never read it.
