    Columnar ID please

I always mix this up with O.trolli.. as I seem to have them both.. at one point I just thought one is a less hairy version of the other... Anyways shouldnt the spines on O.celcianus should be orangish? (well no: yellow to organe) some think they are different vars indeed. I am still not sure about my specimens.. O.pseudofossulatus seems also a candidate for the less hairy one
  2. yeah, full sun all the way, if you have mild winters.

    Is this witch's broom?

yep huachuma yr pic looks like witches broom... but you know, maybe good things might happen with those viruses.. who knows? maybe a new monstrosa strain... or not . this number of pups is unhealthy anyways.. I had this happen once in one penis plant.. pupping like crazy then pupping from the pups. I didn't guarantine it, I just cut them of and grafted them. The "infection" didnt continue.. if you ask me, I wouldn't worry too much about contamination
  5. ^^^^^^^^^^ yeah that... I was wonderin if those were lophophoras but cintia seems like better guess

    Stolen Cacti, Again....

I read up a bit on the matter.. Yeah the sense of safety, crime rate, murder rate, gun-related death rate differs from european country to another and even from town to town of the same country, and of course from neighbourhood to neighmourhood, especially for big cities. So in Greece with 10-11 mil population, and half of them living in the capital, Athens, you cant really compare crime rate of the capital to some smaller town.. the smaller the town, the more dangerous the capital seems in the comparison. This having being said, I walked alone at high hours a lot when I was living in Berlin, capital of Germany, and was not afraid. Even after we were mugged at gunpoint (no idea if the gun was even real) at some remote east berlin area once.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_intentional_homicide_rate Especially characteristic, in relation with guns, is the example of Canada.. A big country with huge hunting tradition where you have guns almost in every home. But the guns related cases and murders are very low...

    Stolen Cacti, Again....

my whole point besides being slightly drunk and doing my usual anti-american "jokes" was that the gun thing was too drastic but I guess I live in a low-violence and low-crime place thus the idea of owning a gun is so alien... who knows what I would be like if I had be born, say in Texas?

    Stolen Cacti, Again....

derek>>> me personaly, I have seen too many fucked-up films( the majority are US-produced) that indicate that I should more be afraid of people, but I am not yet convinced... maybe greece us actually a good place to live, despite the crisis

    Stolen Cacti, Again....

^^^^ exactly. a spine fence ! put the spiniest at the very edge of the fence towards the most unlikable neighbor... this is is symbolic then take all the cuzcoensis people dont want to plant around and do a spine fence .... hey derek, I might re-read what you said, I mean better but yeah , dude, its a cultural thing... also political thing ... people around here dont have guns... cops and criminals have guns hunters have rifles... a traditiional thing here too.. political activists use guns in 'symbolic political actions'.. criminals and mafia type have guns and maybe could easily get you a kalashnikov . to be honest with you? I dont know anyone who owns a gun... I have seen semi automatic guns and and I am happy I fired with one of them HK-11 in the OBLIGATORY army here in greece... that's the only experience with firing guns , yo ... that's the thing in most greek households... now fasicsts, or illegals of any kind, sure they got guns... but you know, a gun for a cactus theft?
  14. are these penis (A clone) - the larger penis??

    Stolen Cacti, Again....

I remember some threads in the nook, couple years back, people being afraid of ... anything... but they were always of the trichocereus only garden shit , and then they would wonder about their paranoia I was saying: well you cant grow 200+ of the same or similar (to common eye) clones and not expect someone to suspect something... well they're a grafting stock. they're perhaps the best graftin stock but , you know get plenty of other cacti along.. because, mostly, its MORE BEAUTIFULL monotricho gradens are boring to me, except we 'are talking to extensive/old/in the ground old plants collections this is a specialized theft ... they didn't take them becauase "oh so pretty" in anycase, I dont believe they deserve to be shot for what they did... these are bottom-level hippie druggiez, possible junkies , but dont really know ozzie mentality but, yeah, 2nd time , wow, that sucks! but.... a gun? c'mon man!! a cut/thumb? these are all emotional reactions to support the OP , right? its just a theft no?

    Stolen Cacti, Again....

bad humoar mode one; maybe I should consider giving the eilleen freebie that Derek deserves according to the rules I set, to the 4rth guy... he is in CA. Maybe there its not legal to shoot some trespasser, if you just claim you feared for your life... but bad humoar aside, I need a reply from derek , man , wtf??

    How to recognize a bridgesii

or? how would you recognise some clone? IMO it dont deserve a name if its not describable someway... but this is just my opinion... eilleen doesn do too many spines, TIG can go 10 cm (spine length) PS: this is called macroscopic identification btw
  19. so what are you opinions on how should we call the two main different forms of this species ? should we skip tacaquirensis name overall and only use the taquimbalensis / taquimbalenis wilkae ? yeah yeah DNA research is needed and all... what about how we call them FOR NOW? OK they're synonyms, which prevails and why?

    the 'TPM' thread

now this is a seemingly different clone, from oz, australia, bogan-land its seems a bit different than say TPM#2 but its early to say how its different.. for once I saw reddish spines, and reddening of the epidermis near the crest margin .... (plus there was some glaucousness) might end up to be a peruvianus crest / monstrosa
  21. sagiXsagi

    the 'TPM' thread

in fact I got a feat that can differentiate the two two strains from the crest density: TPM#1 crest is less dense and bigger TPM#2 crest is more dense, smaller and curls more ... (for same sized spcimens) I intend to so some measuring experiments... the spines are diffent also... TPM#1's spines are more sturdy. ( have grown them for 7+ years in full or almost full sun )

    the 'TPM' thread

an overall comment about me comparing TPM #1 which seems to be mostly columnarish for most, and TPM#2 which is obviously the TRUE crest , lets say ( a reference to the "true blue" ) the reason I compare them is that when I started growing TPM#1 it became a crest (came rooted from Taiwan) and I dealed for a long time with both clones as crests, and really didn't didn't find any differenence in them... (was a complete newbie at 2008) except when the TPM#1/kada mother started going columnar again ... by that time, I had created various crested specimens of it. So it was (they were) a crest for me, at least at the begining... and when it went columnar I tried to create a bunch of them columnars ... after several years, I realise that the two strains TPM#1 and TPM#2 have huge differences, yet once they looked alike in my eyes. peace

    seed grown Trichocereus ID

EG you think it might be a tac/taq ? dont get too jarred from the label it might be a mislabel thus the "?" I am more inclined to the macro/cuzco side, but we'll see . these might be some other SS hybrids for sure, yeah I think they might be SS seed whatever the case... in any case this seedling was notable in its own batch of seedlings to create 3 growing point on its own.. and very early on.. thats why I took care of it and still have it close... easily pupping columars are sought after for a variety of reasons... I dont even remember where its brothers are , I have seedlings from that period, but labels were lost due to a mess... stupid me I should have kept a date log.. but as soon as it went growing fast, then I'm like "nah, its not a slow grower, its got some pachanoi/cuzco/macro dominant in it...
