  1. The All American Pressure Cookers are awesome; they work very well, are easy to use, and never fail.

Ideally you just want one with the knob-type pressure controllers, which are superior to the rocker type. ALWAYS use one with a gauge, these are very necessary.

I actually used a cheaper one, just a decent sized Presto with the rocker... it works well in all my experiences and it was around $75 shipped on Amazon. Though from what I've read the rocker types allow air exchange as the pot cools down, exposing the insides to open air which may be detrimental in some situations. Since I would seal all my bags and jars before pressure cooking, this wasn't an issue for me. But if I knew that the rocker types were inferior for this reason, I would've bought an All American or other knob type PC.

I hope this makes sense, I can try to explain it better if necessary.

And by the way, as others have said, the modern pressure cookers are very idiot proof. I don't think you could even take the lids off under pressure if you tried (though don't test me). And they have extra valves to pop.

  2. which hassles would those be, pray tell?

I would highly recommend you contact one or more of the gazillions of super friendly aussie cactiholics on this forum and purchase directly from them for all the aussie clones you seek.....

Wow! Those flower buds can't be coincidence.

    By the way, here's mine:

    TBMC

I wish I had more thorn aeroles on it, it kind of worries me. Also, any tips on grafting it? It looks very difficult to me.

I'm sorry, it's just that I had the understanding that importing cuttings is difficult and more expensive than the actual cutting! You bring me good news in saying otherwise.

Could anyone chime in the expense of shipping foot long cuttings to America? And there aren't many issues with customs? If I could obtain it from an aussie that would make things much easier.

  4. Howdy everybody. I'm pretty new to these forums, but not so new to collecting cacti, which I've been seriously into since I was around 13 (granted I'm still very young). I know I don't have a lot of posts yet, so it's hard to tell how serious I am about collecting, but most likely by the time you read this I'll have some pictures of my garden up to share! Anyways, with enough of an introduction I'll get to it.

I'm currently seeking a couple clones in particular, from others in the US (due to the hassles of importing).

In particular, I am looking for a cutting of T. Bridgesii "Psycho0". After seeing some pictures from Nitrogen on Misplant's website I'm quite obsessed!

Other clones like "T. Argentinensis", Sharxx Blue, Yowie, and Rosei #1 are also on my list to obtain. If anyone has any other unique trichocereus clones, especially ones that get blue and have long thorns, I'd likely be interested in those as well!

I know these plants are hard to come across, and that those who have them might be hesitant to trade. If anyone is willing, I would pay quite generously.

  5. One of the best parts of planting in the ground, is that you don't have to worry about repotting anymore! Although I still recommend mulching them in some environments. They also get to their full potential girth wise.

I live in Arizona and I love planting them in the ground, as long as there's enough shade during the summer!

  6. No, it's hardly debatable for methampehtamine to be considered neurotoxic; it is very much so.

    But this study:

    http://www.nature.com/npp/journal/v20/n1/full/1395233a.html

shows impact on a short term (12-week) and low dose (0.4-0.46mg/kg) with amphetamine.

I still can't find the study that shows the impact on the dendrites and DAT density on a short term and low dose regimen as well, but I remember reading it clearly, because what I interpreted worried me! But until I find it and it's interpreted by yourself, don't take my word completely, as suggested! Very good advice.

  7. The study I found reported significantly reduced dentrite length and density in the dopamine receptors after two weeks administered. It was a study that involved treating a group of Rhesus monkeys for two weeks with I remember around 0.2-0.5mg/kg daily (It was definitely in proportions to what is prescribed for ADHD). I don't believe I misinterpreted this study. This study isn't very old, but I'm currently trying to dig it back up.

  8. No way! That's cool. The TPM clumping form (the common ones) aren't known to flower right? That'd be cool if these do.

I have one myself, it's new and still rooting. I was wondering if this is like the other forms, where you need viable thorn aeroles to grow? Because the only spots on mine I have with thorns are very small and frail... this worries me!

  9. Caffeine makes me real tired. I still enjoy drinking it. But I'm sure to get stretchy and yawny soon after.

The appropriate dose for people with ADHD will more-so calm the person and reduce excessive talking/movement... but even for ADHD an overdose will cause these synonyms that are typical in non-ADHD people when using the drug. This is because the low dopamine manifests as excessive talking/movement/impulslivity... self-medicating, so to speak. So the appropriate dose alleviates this, and can make me cool and calm.

I don't believe it helps anybody sleep: it prevents sleep and appetite, hard... but somebody on the appropriate dose, taking it as prescribed for a long time will be tolerant to these effects, and have few issues. I can believe somebody taking a usual amount and being able to nap.

Anyways, I took ADHD meds for years. And now I've been off them completely for a solid two, by choice. But like most things, especially medications, there is a trade of. With amphetamines, this is very distinct and in my opinion, hard to maintain. Unfortunately, since adderall is so effective in treating these symptoms, it also has the other side: personality loss, dependence, etc. My biggest issue with it is that after your plasma levels drop from peak concentration, then you begin to crave other substances and overall feel like crud. This means that while the amphetamines are working well you are productive, feel less compelled by addictions/instant gratification and have your mind easier set towards the future... but then 3-6 hours in, it goes downhill, and you'll likely crave marijuana, nicotine, sex, etc. while simultaneously feeling kinda lame.

My biggest concern is a study I read, where amphetamines were administrated on Rhesus monkeys, in therapeutic doses (I don't remember the mg/kg dosing, but I remember working it out to about 20mg adderall for an adult man)... they gave these monkeys these doses for 1-2 weeks, and then dissected their brains. Upon biopsy, they discovered permanent changes of brain structure. In addition to this, every kid I've met raised on adderall seems to be zombified, but this is anecdotal.

Gosh that was a lot of typing. But this is a topic I felt that I could shed light on.
