Chemical Shaman we will miss you

An absolute tragedy... I doubt a funnier, naughtier, more authentic, beautiful human ever lived. The world just got a whole lot more boring and less compassionate. RIP

    Giant Lebanese Zucchini!

Zucchinis end up huge when they are fully mature, what we normally see in shops are just babies picked young to be tender.
  4. Turmeric, hoe into it mate, it is brilliant stuff. Its anti-inflammatory effects are now being proven to be at least equal to the pharmaceuticals, but as for side effects you will have less Alzheimers, less cancer (via 12 different pathways), a healthier liver, lower cholesterol, less infections, healthier arteries and heaps of other great benefits. You can mix it into a paste and and apply it directly for quicker results as well as eating it with as many things as you can. Other things that might help are boosting your omega 3 essential fatty acids through chia seeds, flax seeds, fish oils etc. Green lipped mussels are also a tasty way to reduce inflammation. Make sure you are getting enough zinc and Vit C. Bromelain the enzyme in pineapples also has strong anti-inflammatory properties. Try and eat a more alkaline diet as an acidic systen is pro-inflammatory. Cheers Calyx

    Woodford Folk Festival meet?

I think there are still tickets at the gate and you can get day passes. Tee it up for next year if you cant get there this year, tickets go on sale in about April and are a fair bit cheaper if you get them then. Morris dancers are big boofy blokes who wave hankies at each other and then whack each other with sticks....its the height of British culture.
  7. Anyone going to Woodford and want to meet up? If you havent heard of it it is 1hr or so north of Brisbane near Caboolture, from 27th Dec - 1st Jan. 130,000 people, 6 days, 20 stages, shitloads of fun, something for everyone. There are cutting edge health talks, environmental talks, film festivals, comedians, dance workshops (20 different styles), Tibetan monks, circus acts, huge separate festival for kids(kids under 12 $17 for the week including camping), spun out street performers, qi gung, morris dancers... yes morris dancers!!!, 47 food stalls, HHH stall, oh yeah and heaps of great music. Pretty much every type of music except 'folk music' . From Wild Marmalade, Circle of Rhythm, The Red Eyes, Tjupurru, Mal Webb, Cat Empire, to Mongolian throat singers, Gypsy rock, taiko drummers, and sprocket the funky music mobile. The best thing about it is the attitude of the people there, everyone is uber friendly, people helping each other, smiling at strangers almost mandatory. It is a great example of how humanity should be. And theres morris dancers!!!!

    Bellingen Global Carnival

These festivals have the best vibe, they used to have the "smile police" who would fine people a dollar if they werent smiling (money went to a local charity). Great music, great people, great times.

    how unhealthy is this?

Hey Stoney, I think all the posts above show there are a more people who care about you than you might realise. It took real guts to post with such honesty, I feel you are much stronger than you give yourself credit for. I would definitely recommend getting as much sunlight on your skin as you can, it can have profound effects in elevating moods. Observe how you feel before and after a good dose of sunlight, it is amazing. It is especially important during winter to combat SAD (Seasonally Affective Disorder). Maybe go to the video store and get some good comedies out, a good dose of something silly like Borat does me wonders. Helping other people is a pretty sure fire way to feel better. I realise that the general public may seem a little too confronting at the moment, but something like Meals on Wheels could be mutually beneficial. The oldtimers would not judge you at all and would just be delighted to see you. Are the issues you feel self loathing over resolvable? Please PM me if you want to discuss any problems..... fuck that, just PM me anyway mate . All the best Calyx

    All herbs to be banned???

I really hope you are right Torsten (and you usually are ) and this is just about labelling. EEEEK have I become one of those god damned fear mongers?

    All herbs to be banned???

The majority of herbs have been proven to be safe over thousands of years of usage by thousands of people . For a pharmaceutical to be "proven" to be safe it takes less than a decade and a handful of very well paid scientists. Vioxx, a "proven safe" substance was shown to kill 50,000 people and it is still on the market. If any herb (except tobacco) killed 5 people it would be history. I am all for anything dangerous to be off the market, lets just keep the playing field level.

    All herbs to be banned???

I agree the wording is a bit alarmist and sensationalised but this is for real. These may be worst case scenarios but nonetheless they are potentially real scenarios.

    All herbs to be banned???

Here is the link to the FDA document itself http://www.fda.gov/OHRMS/DOCKETS/98fr/06d-0480-gld0001.pdf . This has been brewing for a long time, alternative medicine has been taking too much of the pharmaceuticals market/profits, not to mention actually making people healthier. As John D. Rockefeller (the founder of the modern pharmaceutical industry) said "Competition is a sin"
