A few different hybrids (???) all from the same batch of seed (as shown in black pots). This batch germinated *much faster* than previous year's (pink pot). Pink pot is 1 year older than black. But all from identical source plant/s.
The "hybrids" batch started sprouting in the fridge after only a few weeks, whereas the previous batch hadn't even after several months. Of the new batch, one pair of obvious hybrids grew so fast they had to leave the greenhouse early (super-long phyllodes, pictured at front and right).
The two at the back resemble more the one in the pink pot, in terms of colour, shape, growth rate. The small pot in the centre holds a few stragglers, could be something different again.

I don't hear anything from our Chief Health Officer about this study ...

you forgot to call unvaccinated people "mass-murderers" ...
the "freedoms" you fail to comprehend include the entire bundle of human rights as we know them (they come as a package deal)
the right to physical integrity exists because of medical experimentation upon Jewish bodies during WWII. it guarantees every (human) body the freedom not to be subject to invasive procedures without their freely given, fully informed consent.
these are established legal principles, you can't do away with them & still (meaningfully) proclaim "the rule of law"
grave times are ahead, if human rights can be overthrown in the name of some conceptual greater good, such as public health. or, more likely: the economy.
who are the real vandals in this scenario? I would suggest, those chipping away at the edifice of legal rights and freedoms.

I think the psychiatric lobby should be satisfied with that last clause, only where these medicines are administered in closely clinically supervised settings and with intensive professional support.
MDMA before psilocybin, hints the ABC: https://www.abc.net.au/triplej/programs/hack/mdma-and-magic-mushrooms-could-be-downgraded-by-tga/13563076
If the TGA reclassified these, how could stiff criminal penalties for unauthorised use and possession be maintained? Not without a degree of cognitive dissonance, and wilful discrimination (against poor people, for example). That said, it wouldn't surprise me if penalties were actually increased under the new regime.

There was a plastic-bottle terrarium craze in the '80s, when the 2L Coke bottles first came out (with a separate black plastic base, in those days).
I think there's a SAB tek on using this method to propagate iboga.

It's good to know that the cute little rabbit ears version is also environmental menace. I've seen the larger, fruiting varieties out along the Calder, just before the gorse sets in. Some seem even to have been deliberately planted, go figure.

Sometimes a potted khat bush will look like it needs water when in fact what it needs is the opposite: better drainage. That's the only problem I've (rarely) encountered. Beware of frosts, and native herbivores if you live in the bush. Khat easily withstands drought conditions, but in arid areas where it is grown as a cash crop, khat is notorious for its irrigation requirements. Seedlings may require extra care (mine get a sprinkling of water twice daily) until they're more established.

9 hours ago, Mycot said:news no longer has any regard for truth but is merely a lying propaganda machine.
This applies from 9 News to Skynews, and the ABC is no different, so there is no moral argument for preserving it.
But promoting nationalism has always been the ABC's raison d'être. (Just as the Shrine of Remembrance has always been a monument to sacrifice, not freedom.)
One thing I've noticed about the ABC and Covid --
it's politically correct these days for all ABC news personalities to express concern over mental health issues. Any mention of trauma, abuse, anxiety, depression, is followed by a disclaimer: please seek help if needed ... unless, of course, you're opposed to mandatory vaccination -- then the gloves are off, and you're just plain batshit crazy. No Lifeline support for you.
Being the paragon of political correctness, the ABC is naturally opposed (at least in principle) to totalitarianism. But if fascism may be defined as the merger of state and corporate power (Mussolini) then what word should be used instead to describe the all-but-mandatory rollout of Pfizer et al.?
I won't be cajoled or ridiculed into vaccination. Am I just plain batshit crazy? So be it.

Good to know. I've often used scoria in the bottom of pots for drainage, or as top dressing, never had any issues with it before. But will definitely take that advice on board.

Will do, thanks. This is the only cactus I've come across that didn't respond to TLC -- if anything, it showed signs of rapid deterioration from the moment I received it.

On this specimen, aureoles are about one inch apart -- but two inches between aureoles wherever these indentations occur.
So it's a case of dropping an aureole, as well as interrupting rib growth.
-
Sometimes a Trichocereus will drop ribs, add ribs, or -- as pictured -- drop and then resume growing a rib. Is this simply a genetic trait, or do environmental factors play a role?
I'm not sure what the pictured variety is -- a "Super Pedro" type, for sure -- but it often melts like this for me, once it reaches a certain size. That said, I've seen clones of this variety which, in sunnier positions, did not exhibit this tendency.
The only other plant I have that exhibits a similar growth habit is T. peruvianus var. "sausage" -- a close relative perhaps?
-
Not construction workers but "neo-Nazis" -- this a bit rich, coming from the ABC.

A while ago I pounced on an eBay sale, mature TBM plants for around $50 BIN, delivered. The plant arrived, but as soon as I divided and replanted, the segments began to wither and wrinkle, as pictured. After a month or so in fresh pots they showed no signs of recovery. I became concerned that these plants might have been exposed to a poison (prior to being listed on eBay), and so am reluctant to put them to use in my medicine garden. Any thoughts?

now, i have to face the 2nd shot, and i am scared it could make my head ache worse, plus the "ringing" in my ears...
i want people to get the jab, but the first trials were done, with a very subjective manor!
i was told no body experienced tinitis, after 25.000 trials.
but now, suddenly a lot of people do.
I'm sorry to hear about the headaches and tinnitus. Hopefully they will pass. Unfortunately those symptoms are so general they could be just as easily attributed to other proximate causes, the rollout of 5G infrastructure including near-orbit satellites, for example.
I've lived with chronic tinnitus for almost 20 years. Surprisingly, one adapts.
My question would be, how do your symptoms work their way into the established scientific data on vaccination safety? Since this is an ongoing biomedical experiment (on a planetary scale), follow-up data should be pursued as a matter of urgency. Unless, of course, this is all just a box-ticking exercise for corporate benefit, in which case ... we all lose, vaccinated or not.

History tells us that biological components of a vaccine will escape into the wild and mutate. Polio, a case in point. Chalk it up to the law of unintended consequences.
The biosphere is telling us something of the toxicity of human economic and ideological systems; planetary bio-feedback we ignore at our peril. Pro-vax wishful thinking to the rescue? Maybe, but not without significant casualties in the process. Political freedoms, for one.
On the plus side, technological fixes are good for economic growth, at least in the short term -- I dread to think of the intergenerational debt being foisted on us in the name of public health.
Pfizer et al., meanwhile, are laughing all the way to the bank, devoid of any responsibility for adverse outcomes. If that's the "new normal" then count me out.

Kambo banned by TGA
in News & Notices
Posted
A victory for frogs, maybe. But First Nations' people's rights to practice traditional culture and cosmology? (Imagine if it had been an Indigenous folk remedy that were banned -- on stolen land. Absurd.)
Ultimately, the imposition of this ban (like most TGA determinations) is about the exercise of authoritarian control -- another feather in the cap of western medico-legal expertise -- to the exclusion of other ways of knowing. I doubt that anyone at the TGA is genuinely concerned for the health of vulnerable people (least of all Yamanawa natives, many of whom may be directly targeted by this prohibition -- i.e. discriminated against).
Arguably the real danger of kambo is not the substance per se, but its use in non-traditional social contexts:
Joaquim Luz, a Yamanawa leader, criticized commercial sales and kambo's use without the preparation or permission of indigenous peoples, saying that the toxin users are at risk of death. ... Other native groups have also expressed concerns.... (from Wikipedia)
Let me hazard a wild guess: Kambo is currently subject to western intellectual property claims, or at the very least scientific research, in order to facilitate the inevitable transfer of the wealth of Indigenous knowledge to its proper custodians, Big Pharma. The TGA is merely playing its part as handmaiden to biomedical industry.
