Hi gang. As the cooler months draw nearer I'm thinking again of the possibility of finding Amanitas. Has anyone ever seen these growing as far north as the Sunshine Coast pine plantations? I haven't done much exploring for these but I have seen what looks like a yellow Amanita.

Hi everyone.
I have recently moved to the sunshine coast from up north and would like to meet and trade with some growers more local to this area. If you would like to meet and trade here on the forum other than in person thats fine also. At present i am still trying to pot up my collection from the move and looking to stock up on pereskiopsis.
Thank you

Hi everyone
I have received my package today and am excited to sow these seeds. Thanks to Zed for fixing me up and throwing in a couple of extra seedlings. You were a great help and very patient ;) . I really like the idea of auctions to raise money for this website. I think it would be very sad to see it disappear as i have learnt a lot from fellow growers on these forums. But also have witnessed other members grow as gardeners during my short period as a member.
Thank you to all members for being involved and sharing knowledge and plants. Happy gardening folks
Cheers

Some sort of cactus Arboretum? You could charge an entry fee

Just had a thought. I know some species of ant have a symbiotic relationship with fungi. Some even farm it for food. In turn the fungi break down materials to produce fertile soil and also deliver nutrients to plants. Would be interesting to know if and what species of fungi may have relations with cacti.
Also the fungi could feed off the ant jizz. Its the circle of life!

Potted up some cuts from Rodni and Delia- peru MG Red, peru John, Potent and Eileen. Then repotted a Loph into a sexy pot. Walked around and checked out all the crazy awesome growth going on at the moment. Man it is so hot and dry up here in the tropics and the plants are going off. Took some photos.
Also noticed green fleshy spines on some new pups you can see here on this sausage pup, but also noticed it on some peru pups also.
Something strange also happening with my Loph, it seems to have wet stains from liquid in the centre every morning and evaporates during the day. Can anyone explain whats going on?

Yep if you were breeding dogs to produce a top pedigree. The breeders destroys a pup that is deaf or deformed in any way to remove those "bad" genetics. If the goal is to produce strong healthy plants, it makes me wonder that hybrids that show traits of monstrose or albino are not of benefit other than looks to the owner like a poodle with pink curls that has no hunting skills. This bring me to a question. When is it suitable and valid to name your own plant strain? How do you know your the first to make that cross? How long does it take to choose the best genetics from that crosses offspring to clone? Either way it would be very time consuming im sure.

The post man just dropped off a box full of Pereskiopsis. These were a bit pricey i must admit but i am super keen to get grafts happening. But also to my surprise they threw in a bunch of seed into the package. Not just any seed mind you but awesome strains and crosses I dont yet have. So stoked

Hi sorry if it's starting to get of topic. But I found this whilst looking at info on Amanita, which may be interesting for some. I guess it could be used for other species also.
