Those market pics are great! Beautiful plants TH, the werdermannius is magnificent. Wonder who named the plant short spine terschekii, was it the guy selling cuts on eBay a few years back or did someone name this plant previously............ Some pics below comparing the 'SA short spine" with two other nice fat plants that are there, these 2 plants are much smaller than the 'SA short spine', either planted later, had a hard life or slower growers perhaps. All the cactus there appear to be the same age, could these 2 other small plants be remnants of a much bigger plant that may have fallen down or cut down etc and then a few tips from the plant re planted......... There are 2 large perus there also that resemble rosei's, their spines are bit different from the rosei's I got from Fields. The big fat chiloensis there is more like a pasacana, so maybe that plant is a hybrid........ 'SA short spine' (not) x2, 1 meter tips from the two small plants Tip 1 on the left Tip 2 on the right Perhaps these pics can help establish that they are Validus, Terschekii or hybrids......

gladiatus, taquimbalensis, cerues sp or a mut?
spooge replied to spooge's question in Cactus & Succulent Identification
Thank you EG. The plant was close to 2m heres a pic of the gumtree photo managed to successfully get the plant out in one piece. when i got her home we took her up a hill a bit in the wheel barrow and planted her, i went down to the shed to get some ropes and pickets to support her while she establishes her self, and when i got back the plant has snapped off just above ground level. So i chopped the pup off and the main stem, the pup and the rooted bit are undercover to heal. main stem is around 1.8m pup some shoots with a ruler for scale for the ribs and areoles -

Cheers Sagi, that's means a lot comn from you, you sexy cactus cunt, you. phlebs are going in the ground in Autumn on a slope that's well drained and gets some good winter sun, creating a little phleb walk so they will be planted either side of a path that will be cut into the slope. ive some phlebs already planted out on a slope that is a levy for a dam, small ones, they are doing quite well. these big ones in pots were the first ones I got and I felt I needed to 'understand' these trees and what conditions they need before planting them out. after speaking to the man that collected some of the cebil seeds that are now little trees from a Forrest in South America I will be planting them out in spring, after the cold weather, so it's another winter in the green house for them just to make sure they will not burn down to nothing in the cold and wet weather over winter. Pic 1, yes, leonotis, was here when we got the place, some other quite interesting plants were growing here as well. Pic 3 and 4 are atropa belladonna, some lovely black fruits on them atm. pic 5 are horse radish, not really an ethno but like wasabi and chilli some interesting heights can be reached. my partner has said he will make some horse radish sauce if I dig up some of the roots which I will do. -
