  1. humans who lead a healthy diet/lifestyle need no antioxidants (don't get fooled by the multibillion dollar "natural therapy" industry). i think if you keep your plants healthy, disease and pest free not root bound appropriate sun and nutrients you wouldn't need anything like antioxidants for them. but i was curious so googoled it and found:

    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20214435

i have no idea what any of that means mind you

Thanks for that bot. I didnt even know what a ROS was or even that it was a thing before you posted that. Looks like antioxidants do play a role in plants.

But saying if you lead a healthy lifestyle you would not need antioxidants is a bit of a silly thing to say. Antioxidants rich foods are part of a healthy diet.

More accurately, if we ate less shitty unhealthy food that causes our bodies more oxidative stress (foods high in bad fats and alcohol for example) we wouldn't need as many antioxidants.

Antioxidants are needed I think.. Oxygen is extremely reactive and our bodies have to deal with it with some kind of protection. Our bodies (and plants) produce mass of a specific antioxidant called glutathione if you weren't aware. When our bodies become chronically depleted of glutathione numerous maladies usually occur. Thats why i think we need them. Although this is one specific antioxidant that probably (and seemingly) plays more roles than just antioxidant.

Edit: Oh I see now you were reffering to supplementing antioxidants..

  2. Ok so I have this bottle of water with 400 mg of pure EGCG (Antioxidant in green tea).

EGCG is extremely bitter and I AM NOT going to drink that.. it's almost as bad as Ayahuasca.

Anyway I was wondering how it would affect a plant? I'm guessing oxidative damage can happen within plant cells as well. But would giving a plant small doses of antioxidants actually be beneficial to it? Even marginally?

There is an obvious and easy way to test this.. Grow two plants and start giving one plant an antioxidant molecule in decent amounts and watch their growth and overall health for a length of time and accessing the effect on the antioxidant treated plant. But I cant find this or any test on plants of this kind.

So anyone have any ideas? Green tea plants seem to always have a really health look to them. Ive never grown green tea but i have looked at pictures before. Maybe the EGCG and various antioxidants plays a role?

Any thoughts? Scientifically based or not? Experience even?

  3. Yeah.. Dude good quality marijuana of the right kind for a sick person can be the best medicine because the marijuana plants love synthesis the perfect mix. It's chemical makeup balances itself out.

Too much pure THC is not good for some. It does have side effects for a lot of people. But other cannabanoids counteract the side effects with their own medicinal effect and brings balance to the system. Taking a whole round of chemicals to counter act eachothers side effects just to treat one problem looks stupid when the correct strain of mj will not only treat the symptoms but help heal the patient...

Unless the extract is a honey oil and not a single chemical it's just like taking a Medication. Marijuana is medicine.. Medication is not.

    And meditation rhymes

  4. The first thing I thought was "I wonder what laws they have changed to benefit from this"

I think they've been planning this for a while. But in order to maximize their benefit they would need to change a bunch of laws to tie up loopholes and make shit harder for everyone. Like new taxes and regulations.

Can anybody with knowledge in this area tell me if I'm right?

I mean if this actually mattered to them, for the people they would have passed a medical regulation a decade ago. Or atleast within the last 3 years.

  5. Ok thanks for the replies.

The moat idea actually sounds quite genius lol. When you say cinnamon do you mean true cinnamon or cassia? They have similar chemical makeup but cassia is more spicey due to something being many times more present than in cinnamon. I would actually think too much cassia may be bad for a plant, cinnamon on the other hand probably wouldnt i would think.

  6. I have recently re-potted a plant into a larger pot and am worried about the ants.

The last thing i grew (it was a prickly pear of types, not the usual green with yellow hairs but green with white. It was large and ugly af) in it ended up dying from dehydration and becoming A FUCKING ANT FARM. There was almost no soil.. there was more ant than soil when i tipped it. Now that ive got thee pot back and the ants out.. they want to come back?! What do I do guys?

I mean circling the pot with ant sand doesnt sound the best..

Any help would be greatly appreciated.. this plant is just too precious to let die.

  7. Amazing

This looks sort of like the orange variety of brugsmansia i have that i bought from a nursery named "Aztec gold" except mine is very defined in shape and these are wavy. Definitely similar genetics.

  8. - any sci fi book recommendations at any stage would be excellent btw!!

Check out Stranger in a strange land (the unedited version that is). It was probably the most controversial novel of its time. Its a big book (especially the unedited version, which is much better) but i doubt you will get bored of it. If you can absorb yourself in a story im sure this would satisfy your sci fi interest. Its an interesting idea/story to say the least.
