I've added a few new additions to my collection recently, so I thought I would show you guys and gals them.
Mum brought home this little cactus bundle for me last week and it re flowered today
Two opuntia cuttings I got from a guy around the corner, and I found a massive cylindropuntia growing in a scrub area a few blocks away, so I cut off a cutting.
I have a tray with t.peru germinating and another tray with c.repandus (monstrose) germinating. They have now been moved into the greenhouse. Also there are a couple new succulents next to the right tray.
Mum also brought home this lovely little stapelia variegata for me, and I scored a clipping of a delosperma (or similar sp.) from a neighbour.
This zucchini is growing like a weed; doubled it's size in a couple weeks. You can also see my little skullcap growing in the bottom right hand corner.
Close up of my little skullcap; going strong.
My brugmansia and leonotis are going strong.
My caapi is also going strong, though I think my psychotria has died
My new little c.arabica and coleus'.
Seeing if I can get this avocado seed with grow, has a little taproot coming along.
Some more seeds germinating. On the left I have s.splendens, next to that is a.acuminata, then lobelia inflata, and on the right more s.splendens.
My first attempts of grafting. Not sure what succulent it is that I am using.
Garden bed for s.splendens and other, future, projects.
And lastly, the newest addition and the one I am most excited about; my 3mx2m greenhouse
Hope you all enjoyed the photos

Hey BB,
Awesome journey across the plains - thanks for posting these pics. I think your mystery plant might be a Cestrum.. Possibly C. parqui..
Pls keep posting your adventures.
Cheers Tarenna, glad you enjoy the photos
That would make sense that it is a Cestrum as there were much larger plants with flowers about 10m metres from these small flowerless plants. Seeing as there were only large and small versions, without medium sized plants, I didn't realise they were the same plant. Here is a pic of the flowers from one of the taller plants near by.

So I went out to a station called Mutooroo last Sunday. I just spent the day out there and got some good photos, mostly landscapes, so I thought I'd share them with you guys. I guess you wouldn't class these as a "bush walk" as I drove out there with my dad, but it's close enough. Also, luckily enough, it was a somewhat overcast day, keeping the temp below 30˚C. Otherwise, it probably would have been close to 40˚C and I got a bad enough sun burn on my left arm as is lol - kept it out of the car window for most of the day.
The majority of the photos were taken while driving, hence mostly landscape photos. The first 5 photos were from the drive out to the station, mostly near Cockburn.
At this point we had gotten off the highway and were traveling along the dirt road out to Mutooroo.
Finally we arrived; we stopped in to say hello to Adam and Chrissy - owners of the station - though Adam was out in the plane checking the water dams, as it has been drying up really quickly out there and most of their dams have dried out.
Shearers quarters
Adam flew past us and I managed to get a nice photo out of it.
Stopped in at one of the little huts out on the property, which had a nice little marble collection.
One of the other abandoned huts on the property.
Binoes Gecko.
Unfortunately I don't have a telephoto lens, so this was the best quality I could obtain while taking photos of birds.
We stopped in at the only dam to still have water left. It's about 25km from the property houses.
Scotch thistle.
Unsure as to what this plant is, so feel free to let me know what it is. I love the cracked clay/mud from the dried up dam.
Found this guy at under a piece of tin that was out the front of another abandoned hut, that was half a click from the dam.
Cheeky bugger, poking his tongue out
At this point it was about 5pm, so we decided to call it a day and head back home. These photos are from the drive back.
Apologies for the size of this post, hopefully you enjoyed the photos

Beautiful specimens you have there I hope mine germinate so I can give grafting a go.

I'd be happy to take a print, would give me a reason to use my microscope again
-
Hey Shamanistic, if you still have any seeds left I would be more than happy to take some off your hands

Not exactly youtube, but a great video. Love the cactus fence.

The spines look bigger than my scop - mine is pretty much spineless for the top half. So I'd suggest some sort of pach, possibly with some peru in it.

I used to get anywhere from 9-14 hours of sleep, they days I get between 7-9 hours.
-
I bought some seeds within the last 2 minutes from them, so they are still up and running, for the time being.

Have you been able to determine what type of insect/s have been killing them off? As that may help to figure out a solution to stop them.

Your family's country's elected leader doesn't give a fuck about your family and their needs.
Can you please elaborate on why you believe this is the case?
Compared to the actions, and backwards beliefs, of previous republican leaders and recent republican candidates - Mitt Romney, for example - Obama has proved time and time again that he is trying to do what is best for his people; hence why he was reelected. Not only has he made positive advancements in USA's healthcare system, he is helping to improve the economy (despite what republicans may try and get you to believe), he ended tax cuts for high earners that Bush implemented, he was in charge of taking out Osama Bin Laden, supported the legalisation of gay marriage; just to name a few.

Yeah , but who gives a shit......
Fair point, I only care because I am a dual citizen and 99% of my family lives in America, so what the government does/who is elected affects the majority of my family.
-
I still prefer Obama to the republicans. It was the republicans - mainly G.W.Bush and company - that started this whole shit storm.
Quote:
But German newspaper Bild am Sonntag, citing a "US intelligence worker involved in the NSA operation against Merkel", said Mr Alexander informed Mr Obama in person about it in 2010.
There is no way of knowing whether that statement is factual without knowing who the "US intelligence worker" is. I definitely don't condone this type of behaviour but, at this point, there is no real way of knowing how much Obama knew.

Yeah, when I found the first flower I realised I was most likely wrong. Will be heading to a station in SA, called Mutooroo, on Sunday. So hopefully I will come across some d.hopwoodii while out there.

Nice.. My jungle python does the same thing. She'll just perch up high looking down for prey.
My little jungle girl does the same. She is currently waiting, patiently, on her perch as it is feeding day for her and my albino darwin.

What a beautiful coastal, I wish I had awesome house guests like that. Saying that, we do have 4 shinglebacks that live in ours and neighbours backyards.

now it's my turn
you gonna feel the burn,
as I twist each word
in a way that's absurd.
still, my raps are so clean
gonna make you a has-been,
now let this be felt
as I make your face melt.

Everyone is welcome

Yeah true; tomorrow I'll get some more photos and will head out to another part of town where it is growing very, very well, which will help to determine exactly what species I am growing. I'm about 300-400km away from the simpson desert, so there's a possibility we have slightly different species.

I've contemplated growing datura metel, though, in the end I decided not to. Your metel crosses are making me re think it. Gorgeous flowers and specimens you have there
