We had some peruvianus get badly burnt about %80 off each cacti, we had a bbq and some one threw all the charcoal whatever its called from the bbq in this dry grassy garden and the grass went up I knew I should have weeded it. Any way that was last summer and they are still kicking just badly scared but it was no bush fire. Ill take some pics off them for show and tell.

I have done a lot off grafting over the years and I have noticed the best results for me are Trichocereus spachianus (golden torch) and Myrtillocactus (blue Myrtle) The take rate is far better then others I would use pedro and scopys as my second choice. I have noticed that the grafts done a few years back on the spachianus are winning the size race. Can be hard to obtain enough Myrtillocactus. And I have found Trichocereus peruvianus does not work to well. That’s just from my experience

Can seedling lophops be grafted?
carpetclown replied to woof woof woof's topic in Cacti & Succulents
Iv grafted lopho seedlings a lot off times. In my experience they need to be about 2 to 3 months old a good sign is when the little areoles or fluffy spiky bits appear. I normally get about a success rate off 7 out off 10 Good luck ------------------ www.urbantribes.com.au -
Ahh Dont eat the loph`s , What a shame..Just eat all the other cactus instead.. ------------------
