I take it that T spachianus is a cactus. Tropanes in cacti sounds very strange indeed. of course, if there were no other compounds in there that would stuff things up, the tropanes in the cactus should have the same effect as tropanes in the plants. but keep in mind the levels in each could be dramatically different...don't just go munching your cactus to check!

hiya. Yeah there's some Ipomea Tricolour (i think...heavenly blue) near my house and every now and then lately i've been checking to see if there are seed pods forming (it's flowering). I've noticed that....there never are any. Does anyone know when they will appear? I was under the impression that it was after the flowers fell off, but is it after it finishes flowering or what? Anyway thanks.

yeah maybe you should include the number....i assume if they put it in the paper they don't mind...it's also probably public domain. on the other hand, it's probably best to respect their privacy. hope you get some answers. -frank

Wormwood, foliage. << this isn't real wormwood (atemisia absinthium) but some crappy garden variety (artemisia vulgaris or something shit like that...)you don't want it anyway. 1 Amanita cap...I don't want it. are you even allowed to send these in the mail here? oh well. okay naja tells me that they're illegal so...scrap that. What i want: sceletium tortuosum/emarcidum calea zacatechichi (tick) (i now have a plant but it might be dead) prickly poppy (tick) nymphaea caerula (tick) some trichocereus (pachanoi or peruvianus) seeds. Damiana (herb/extracts, not plants or seeds as I can't be bothered). wild lettuce extract or something exciting like that. there's something i really wanted but i forgot.....heimia! that sounds right. that's it. Do you by any chance also grow california poppies? because that's what the pods look like...maybe they interbred or something really unlikely like that. although they are both in the papaveracaee family aren't they? i always get that confused.

Hi everyone, this is my first post. I have a problem. I go to school (I'm in year eleven) and in a few weeks I am required to undertake work experience. If you don't know, this is where we go to work somewhere for a week, getting paid very little and supposedly getting used to being in the workforce. I'm very interested in ethnobotany and pharmacology and so my first thoughts of who to ask were places like Herbalistics, Wandjina Gardens and (of course) SAB. So what's the problem? All of these places are very far away. I live in Victoria and there is nowhere i can stay in any other state. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for where i could possibly do it here, preferably in or around Gippsland, Melbourne or Mornington Peninsula. Thanks heaps for any help you can give me, and it's great to be a member.

That's really weird, I saw it too, and on the day I officially joined (I joined months ago, but forgot about it till yesterday). I thought it was pretty good. Note the confusion: didn't the guy say that the leaves are poisonous while the seeds are hallucinogenic? Although this is technically true, aren't the tropanes responsible for both poisoning AND psychoactivity? This would mean that both the leaves and the seeds are both hallucinogenic and poisonous. You'll probably getting some "foolhardy individuals" deciding to eat the seeds because "we can't eat the leaves, they're poisonous". They're in for a nasty surprise. On a similar note does anyone here actually use their tropane bearing plants for recreational purposes? most places i hear that this is a bad idea, yet on all the ethnobotanical sites they always appear to be in the top selling products. Maybe they just use them ornamentally .
