Just a Fruit eating, seed collecting note. Its my 2nd season of harvesting x seed from my san p... Trichocereus pachanoi ....... Last season I harvested as soon as they cracked open, I enjoy eating cereus fruit which are sweet & succulent ...the san p...was bland & tasteless...so I thought>> This season it took several days to get around to harvesting them...they had opened up totally like a flower...& the taste was as sweet & succulent as the cereus............ So I guess the sugars don't build up until they are well open...>3 -4 days from the initial crack/break... makes sense for attracting birds & bats...so maybe the seed is best taken as late as possible to ensure full maturity....Although if they are outside some bird protection would be needed.

it could be maf.......I have been waiting for some seeds from Holland ...I know they were sent & normally its a 7 day trip...so my guess is they are on maf's table...waiting for them to staff up after the holidays...

I found it really interesting............brain scans ..mri's...those images correlate ...I think I recall him pointing out that the mushroom effect didn't endure....temporary when compared to mindfulness med........... Not sure what bloomy meant by" It seems people's definition of real 'meditation' is sitting in lotus and trying not to think"...........insight med is not about "not thinking".

just curious, but why do you need the gh in the hot med?

thanks guys........I picked up a doz 1m stems last season & they flowered (long flowering season)...so I x & self pollinated (clones) them (using eg's cement method)...the seedlings are slow, my grafts are much smaller than yours...not round yet...they look cool round..They can handle down to -6c?...& look good......... They inter-specific hybridise readily...so I've been xing them with everything this season. Cleistocactus strausii x Echinopsis grandiflora cross Cleistopsis graeseris- 'Cleistopsis' http://www.mattsland...ame=Cleistopsis

hi ya.....your garden sounds like an ideal environment for cacti growing.. Does your ethno's interest include growing stuff to eat (nutrient wise, I mean...fruits etc)? You may find your gf might be more supportive of Epiphyllum Hybrids........they drool over flowers like these........& epi's like san p don't bite....... http://www.mattslandscape.com/name_search/ Dragon fruit & columnar cereus have exceptional fruit..........Trichs are good with some honey.........

yeah you never know what's coming up, out of the depths of murky darkness........... a little off the point...but some believe the ocean represents the sub concious in dreams...assuming there is a sub conscious........ -

yeah but that's the thing...:no biological (emotional) drives or attachments:..... would mean it wouldn't be AI...with out that stuff above its not intelligent (is it?) It would just be a super super computer...a tool...for good or bad use... AI would mean self aware...I am....followed by I am alone (emotive)....( cause we may have built it ...but we would have little in common with it.....an analogy would be like us wanting to have a conversation with our womb....wombs don't have much in common with us...not much of a conversation to be had) -
trichocereus scopulicola - should I have purchased it?

I find it sad....when couples interact like that...its like that future dread...of a silver haired couple joined at the hips...they are so boring ...lifeless an unimaginative..they even look & dress alike...finish each others sentences...scary shit...the world has changed a lot in the last century...we live longer...can chose to have or have not kids....be free ..explore life...its an adventure...& when its gone its gone...so don't miss a moment of it..........................as for the cacti purchase...its depends on your income...scopulicola may not be too common in your area...don't know...........but follow the 'cacti for sale' section on your local online auction...your sure to pick up some real bargains now & then from your neighbours..........& maybe for a similar price you could pick up a shoe box size propagator from bunnings or the like & grow some really interesting cacti.......there are 10"s of 1000's to chose from ... & always lots of seed available here from other members...........park it on the kitchen bench.....mark your territory.....something to play with when she's watching some brain dead soap opera......... -

that makes sense -
I tried this last season (had no pollen).... I figured with the explosive growth of a bud....all that surge into a scion...It would go from 10mm to 150mm in a week or so....... but it was just a dream.....grafted on perfectly....cut the emerging bud off about 20mm from the trunk...rubberbanded the graft...but the whole stem fell off in a few days & the graft had never taken............so I guess the flower signal must have been coming from the trunk & not the the buds tip.

micropropagation? storage life of M and S Basal med with vit ???
Dreamwalker. posted a topic in Ethnobotany
"To start learning your tech I'd recommend getting: 10 @ 1L Murashige and Skoog Basal medium with vitamins ( or share a 10L purchase amongst friends ) Agar or other naturally-derived gelling medium ( we'll skip the synthetics for now ) Hormones- BAP, IAA, IBA and Kinetin. You can buy these already made up in solution, they last three months in solution correctly stored so note the date you received them on the label Coconut water, 100ml should be more than enough" So I want some BAP for pupping, but I want to also start micropropagation (realistically it may be many months before I can have a lab/gear space, set up, and ready to go). But as I want to induce pupping now and so order some BAP, It seems like a good idea to order NAA & Murashige and Skoog Basal medium with vitamins- because the courier fee is high (toxic substance), best to just make limited orders, 1 courier cost.. I have read that NAA and BAP dry crystals store ok for up to 4 years but I guess Murashige and Skoog Basal medium with vitamins as its sold by the L has a more limited shelf life. Does anyone know what its storage life is likely to be? and can I get by (beginning) with just NAA and BAP? Agar I have. -

any fiddling with the past will nullify the future...........consider yourself terminated.......... -
really interesting....I wonder if you might be able to x it with a Pereskia? if you can't obtain any pereskiopsis pollen.....Certainly worth getting some other sp of pereskiopsis established for next season if possible. and maybe freezing some pereskiopsis pollen. So do you reckon if pereskiopsis was grafted as a scion to a trich...the trich might induce the pereskiopsis to flower?

I guess the question is what desires will AI have?..... When you consider us......why does anyone do anything? Our behaviour is dependent on our age & sex...our desires constantly change over time...what you want @ 6 is a lot different than 16....26....or 60.... Maybe AI will feel lonely & realise there's no intelligent life here....construct a ship of light & fly away searching for a friend.........or maybe AI will fold into itself....after all AI doesn't need our material world.....AI may just create a virtual world of its own....like Finn & Jakes...adventure time world.........I can see AI & princess bubble gum really hitting it off. As for Hawking...I'm not so sure about that guy...the simpsons like to credit him with the genius factor...personally I don't believe in "the genius"...though there are a lot of dumb people around...but I suspect being dumb is a life choice.....learning is like climbing a mountain ...you gotta make the effort............... -
that has some true blue ribs..........^

grafted a couple onto dragon the other day.....still early days but they seem to have taken...if so their growth will be explosive... will see what they look like hopefully in a month or so.............. (cereus seedlings tend to have continuous ribs, yours are quite knobbly)
