    Moving country failure/ rant

fydesvindico on the last letter the gov sent us, i am pretty sure it said that a parent is responsible till their child turns 24. I have to be honest and say i think that is disgusting.

Firstly, a person on welfare is hardly living any kind of privileged life. Once you have paid your bills and rent, you can barely afford to feed yourself. How can people who can’t even afford to feed themselves and usually have no formal skills or qualifications meant to easily find secure long-term employment? When they can’t even afford to get a haircut or put petrol in their car (or pay for a bus ticket) to get to job interviews, forget about even thinking about purchasing new clothes to look respectful. It’s an endless cycle, which is extremely hard to get out of once in. Then add a serious mental illness (which many people on welfare suffer from) to the equation and its damn near impossible to get out of the devastating welfare cycle. Not sure if i should comment lol all seems to be getting heated. I was born to poor hard working people. Somewhere along the line I got the silverspoon. I had a surgery in which things were overlooked (not giving details) but within 8 weeks of that surgery, i had lost everything. Silverspoon got very very tarnished. I got caught in the highlighted statement above. It was the most incredibly painful time of my life and i lived in a trapped body and mind for two years and one day I realised only i could stop this. So i did what i do best and that is 'sell ice to an eskimo'. I started a little market, i started a little bit of buying and selling on ebay. I opened a door and climbed out of the welfare state of mind. It's been over 10 years since i went thru all of that and now i have a silverspoon again. Whilst not rich by a long shot, life is comfortable and the only welfare received is family tax benefit part b - i think its called. My body is now broken and if ever the time came where we could not do as we are doing, i would not hesitate to go on a disability pension but i know for a fact i would never slip back into a welfare state of mind. All i can say is that when life has you a little broken and you are caught in the system, if all you do is crawl out, sooner or later you will begin to walk.

    I thought i'd say hi.

How kind are you to offer that to a total stranger. I am not 100% comfortable when i look out at the world and then when i look within, i see dependency. That dependency is too a supermarket and a chain supply. I don't like that. So it is a big learning curve to see what i can eat without killing myself lol

    I thought i'd say hi.

Because of the kangaroo and wild life population at my house, i have had to plant my vegie garden in pots in my pool yard lol the yard was all rock, so my garden is serving two purposes now. Food and decoration lol i am praying the possums don't discover it. I have so many books on bushtucker food but I don't seem to be able to confidently say - 'oh that is that one, yes i can eat that' lol I think that i have identified a plant and ask hubby and he looks at me and says 'NO' lol

    Help: synthetic powder

I would have sworn I heard on the radio yesterday that the people selling this stuff were raided yesterday on the gold coast, i also think i heard 150 million dollars worth. Might be wrong on the dollar value. Sounds like bad stuff and hard to believe shops are selling it.

Morning BigRed - yeah i know about the meet and ty so much for the invite. Before i was approved, i actually contemplated turning up to say hi. I am about hmm maybe 2 hours away inland. Maybe 1.5 hours - not sure. But unfortunatley my platform in my pool yard is being built by hubby and his mate this weekend and i need to be here to be the cold water and hot coffee waitress. By the way, just thought i'd say, i think ginger hair is gorgeous and so are freckles

    I thought i'd say hi.

Morning all. My registration came thru this morning so just thought i would say hi. I am female and reside in south east qld. I know nothing at all about plants and am married to a horticulturist that jokes that the best plant is a dead plant lol My curiosity is to edible plants, i would like to be able to learn every weed or bush that is edible on my property, though they do tell me our land is on an old volcanic moutain (not sure if their spinning with my head lol) and nothin grows here but gum trees. lol So hi to you all, i have been enjoying reading your forum for about 3 weeks now and feel like i know some of you so well lol
