Yep key to getting over red s mite is 3 sprays within the 10 days to get over their ridiculously quick life cycles. for gnats the simplest way is picking a suitable media for the plant your growing as well as having a good watering regime as the key to no gnats is allowing the top ~1/3rd of the media dry out. even if you have an infestation let the top layer dry out for a day or two and gnats will do. This is where proper media chose comes in, for q plant that needs to stay wet more often think about having less of an organic base as it will just become anarobic and offer a great enviorment for the gnats

New In Ground Plants - Suggestions/Insights
franky replied to magical9's topic in Cacti & Succulents
I agree with Zelly re: ammending existing soil. by filling those holes up with a pre constructed mix you are essentially creating a pot within the ground, as the roots will have a very hard time travelling between the two completely different soil mixes. -
Afaik vermiculite is clay based and will break down in the ground, but perlite will not just something to note. I like using vermiculite to top all of my veggie seeds, I find just sprinkling a layer on top of the seeds offers a very light cover for them to sprout through very easily while holding heaps of moisture for the seeds as well.

Marijuana: The illegal medicine (Channel 7's 'Sunday Night')
franky replied to at0m's topic in Chill Space
From GW pharma's description of sativex "It is composed primarily of a 1:1 ratio of two cannabinoids-CBD (cannabidiol-a non-psychoactive cannabinoid)" Do you think they would legally be obliged to list all cannabinoids if it were a straight plant extract? Imo this would seem like GW not giving the whole description maybe as people may find out quicker they are literally just selling concentrated cannabis? They list carbon dioxide as extraction solvent, which is afaik a very common solvent being used over in the states. I still believe it is just an extract of straight raw material. -

Sativex is cannabis oil, mixed with ethanol for oral consumption, it is just hash oil. What GW pharma are doing is breeding there plants to produce a 1:1 THC to CBD ratio, I remember reading an article that Shantibaba an aussie breeder from Mr nice seed company are working with GW pharma. In UK it is supposedly ridiculously expensive medicine to purchase and is barely covered on any schemes. -

Skills lol Was a great program, would of been great if they explained about cannabinoids at a scientific level and about the endocannabinoid system. -

I don't know much about genetics, but I remember reading about chemicals colchicine (sp?) ? that are used to induce polyploidy in seeds, and these seeds from treated plants push out a high percentage of mutated offspring. This is purely going off of bad memory lol but may be of use
