Yes, clean prints may obtained from PF cakes.
The fanning that PF cakes get is no different than the fanning that bulk tubs gets.
I think that the spores being tucked up into the gills offers a lot of protection.
However during the printing process you should take every precaution to assure cleanliness.
I hate working in SAB. But, making prints is the one time I time I have to use it (I don't have a flow hood).
I could get into the why and how to grow bulk, but that would throw this whole thread off topic.

Proper sleep, exercise and nutrition are essential for anyone to maintain mental health.
One issue with narcotics, including (my favorites) caffeine and nicotine, is that they rob of you vitamins such as B complex.
Also, get some sunshine. Because we get vitamins A,D and K from the sun.

Talking about jokes in bad taste.
Does anybody remember Rev Jim Jones in Guyana?
Do you know nobody tells any jokes about it?
Because the punch lines are too long.

A three legged dog walks into a saloon and says "I'm looking for the man that shot my paw".

A man was walking his dog through the graveyard when he saw another man crouching behind a gravestone.
"Morning!" he said.
The other man replies, "No, just having a shit."- 6

What do plumbers say?
"Your shit is our bread and butter".

I finally thought of a shit joke.
Did you hear about the constipated mathematician?
He had to work it out with a pencil.

Rye is expensive where I live.
If you can't find rye there are alternatives. But exactly what alternative works best would depend on the species that you are trying to grow.

Just spore prints in the water trough and nothing else?
A super soaker full of spores/blended cubes could be a good backup method.
I have heard of a few people that without success.
The theory is that the spores germinate and incubate inside the cow's gut since cows don't have stomach acid. That is why you don't find Cubes in the wild on horse manure, yet horse manure works well for cultivating them.

Where I live Cubes grow wild. When I was young I always dreamed of having a few cows so that I would have my own shroom field.
But now I grow my own Cubes.
IME the Cubes from fields where the cattle were grain fed were more potent that grazed cattle.
Maybe feeding your cow some colonized corn might do the trick also.
Cows, goats, mules and donkeys were always my favorite farm animals.

I only have 468 more posts to go.
Gives me something to look forward to.
BTW, very generous of you!

Makes me wish that I stopped by more often.
I have a scientist buddy (yes a real scientist) that sent me some hooch for xmas. In if for Miss Cue he sent some spiced run with cinnamon and star anise in it. Miss Cue doesn't really drink but his shit was so smooth that she was able to drink the 80 straight out of the jar.
He uses one of those reflux jobs.
BTW he claims that adding a little vitamin B complex to the mash really gets the yeast growing fast.

Thanks for the offer Honey, but I have all of the genetics that I can handle atm.
Right now I'm waiting for print of TED (Thai Elephant Dung) to come in the mail from a friend. Something that I've sought after for years.
Maybe if you have Dakak Beach, then we can talk. I "viewed" DK years ago and I've wanting to "view" it again ever since.

Oh the other joke is
"Mrs Hippie3 is in witness protection".
-
We have been poking fun with that in some of the American chat rooms.
"After Fungi2bwith posted about the mycotopia/LEO conspiraracy it went off line"
"It wasn't a virus; Mrs.Hippie3 gave it chlamydia when she posted a pic of herself in BNL" BTW BNL is where they post Bare Naked Ladies.
"Monsanto shut them down for talking bad about ferts and GMO corn"
I'm assuming that the Zen (the admin) had figured out another way fucking it up worse.

I wouldn't be too concerned about the pressure guage, if you are going for a design with a weight otherwise known as a jiggler it will regulate the pressure/temp quite well. As long as the PC is rated to sterilisation temp/pressure (1bar or 15psi) and you use the correct weight it should be fine.
I wouldn't want a PC without a guage.
For one thing weights degrade over time, so if/when one no longer holds pressure at 15psi you really do want to know about.
This can be easily corrected by taping a coin to the top of the weight and adding a little extra weight to it.
BTW my last PC right out of the box only went to 13psi until I taped a coin to it also.

I've had to elevate my outdoor grows on plastic tables outside. Because, I get these grub worm that can turn a substrate in mud in only about 3 days.
The only critter issue I have had is squirrels digging in my beds. Although, if I use WBS (with no cracked corn in it) they leave it alone.

In the USA I get my syringes and needles at feed stores. And I usually use the large 60cc syringes. Also, that is usually where I get my grain too.

Sounds like you need to move up to a 14g needle SYNer.
I have used LCs that were up to 6 months old, but I like to use them within 3 months though. But I store mine in a cool closet. I would store them in a fridge if I had room for a small one that I could dedicate to mycology. I'm just too paranoid about putting them in one that is used for food. There are just too many micro-organisms in one used for food storage to allow me to feel comfortable about putting a culture in there.
Times may vary depending on species of course.

I tried it by glueing an aquarium hose with a needle to the bottle. I guess because I didn't PC the set up, everything contaminated.
They do make an auto injector that can be PCed. You can set it to 1cc-5cc and its only $20USD. Sorry but I don't have a link.

The clear silicone will help you find the hole with the needle. I hate fishing around with the needle and chewing up the silicone. Plus since I do my inoculation open air I like to be as fast as possible.
The lids are nice and would be great for grain jars, but I still think a dry verm barrier it all that is needed for PF jars (IMHO).

Don't forget about canning foods too.i know you can grow mushrooms without a pc but when you can get a really good one for $44 witch i think is a bargin
and you can always use it in the kitchen to make yummy stews or do what i did use it to make a still i got a condenser
from wiltronics and a splash head now i have a still witch cost me 90 dollars i know you can sterilize without a pc
but it is always good to use a good tek if you know of a fool proof way of sterilizing without a pc please post
peace out big red
But getting back to tips
I hear a lot of people talking about the expensive RTV silicone and just ya'll to know the cheap stuff works just fine. I just use any cheap 100% clear silicone it stands up to the heat just fine and being clear helps you find the hole in the jar lid. If you doubt that it may hold up in the PC just check its specification ratings on the side of the tube.

Question about P.F spore printing
in Mycology
Posted
You don't want to pick the cap too soon or it may not expel many spores.
Also, I don't like doing it under glass because the prints don't dry enough for my liking (I use a SAB).
