    'Shamanic' experience

therefor u shouldnt be afraid to express urself as a shaman. i dont think theres anything wrong with saying u have a shamanic experience at all or the need for inverted coma's. Its not like calling urself a chartered accountant, which requires professional exams for a specific reason of qa and law.

    Sparrow's death shocks a nation

If they were smarter, they could have trained or tricked the sparrow to start the dominoes making the show even more popular as well introducing the animal lovers to the stately hobby of dominoes... One could also read this as a symbol of human behaviour. We spend all our time preparing meticulous social endeavours that could collapse any moment and maybe ultimately will collapse (think Katrina disaster), while ignoring nature just doing its thing.

Roger that, multispore. This is the most vigorous pinset I've experienced, they are practically pinning on top of one another for space!

    they came from outer space

Just under 10 days - it appears quite aggresive to me as the pins are covering almost every square cm fighting for space. A new humidifier has probably helped things along a bit...

    Best ambient?

wandjina Try DXM - ambient 3, the gnosis blueprint, or other DXM stuff. Its quite soundscapey. You can download it further down this page http://www.thetastates.com/mixarchive.html Bittersoundfoundation - ambient mix1 is similar soundscape/techno, I listened to once after tea to a pleasant 'hitch hikers guide to the galaxy' journey. You can get that from Baidu.com and search 'ambient' or 'ambient techno' if it doesn't come up by a name search. 'Surplus of rare artifacts' by John Hallur trances me out. This site has a bunch of mixes, of which I have only listened to 1 so sorry can't give thumbs up or down - but heaps of MB's if you want to download: http://www.cloudfactory.org/music/ And can't leave without mentioning Brian Eno. Early experimental work especially hope this is of help?

    The Lego Bible

I agree, religion is something we've had going on for quite some time and is not as progressive as it could be and probably nowhere as progressive as ancient earthy religions like the pagans or Mayans who at least included nature heavily, if not as the centre, of their faith. The Bible has some nice lines in it but its just another book in the library really for me. To be honest I find it rather boring. Emphasising it as the be all end all reduces the value of other literature, particularly when its been revised and editted endlessly over the last 2 millenia. I wonder how many trees over the centuries have been lost purely towards printing bibles?? I think the line about new religions needing to be developed is interesting. so much of religion is about the rythmns of the past, not always the present or planning for the future. Christianity and Islam both seem to have a mantra of returning prophets, automatically self perpetuating their own faith. Not all of them handle science too well. They seem to promote the idea that only god or Jesus or someone-else holy can save you - its conditional. If Jesus was really the messiah then why did he not preach about sustainability and resource management? Why is the bible mainly stories about people and social ethics? Wouldn't the son of god be interested in teaching his children about how they are intrinsicly and symbioticly part of the natural world and its complex beautiful systems? The bible obviously contains no more wisdom than was naturally around at that time and context. Its not a symbol of 'god-the power and energy of the universe' its a symbol of what was happening in jeruselem 2000 years ago. If God and jesus really are so divine, please explain to me the heavy metal band 'stryper'?? hehe That 'locking in' of attitudes certainly minimises the potential for growth in spirituality and adapting it to whats happening around us. However locking in of good ethical values also keeps them alive and thats not neccessarily bad. I love saying this to hardcore christians 'What are you gonna do when you get to the pearly gates of heaven and theres a big fat asian guy there? Buddha. What are you going to do then?' gets them worked up everytime!! What does one technically have to do to start a religion? Is it easy or hard to do as a citizen?

    Sydney riots

australia is a young country with a good foundation of values and awesome potential. i used a metaphor of cooking, likening our government to chef's and that australias still maturing (cooking, baking) as a nation.

    Sydney riots

An old boss once said 'white middle aged anglo saxon males are the most oppressed people in society'...he said it tongue in cheek but there's actually some truth in it when you put everything into context. Australia is a country still cooking in the oven - Instead of our government concentrating on the ingredients, flavour and original recipe its flicking the temperature dial around all over the place and trying to sneak extra seasoning into the bake. They'll be putting the country in the microwave next if we're not careful. Steady as she goes Johhny Boy!

Cannabis almost doubles risk of fatal crashes

shining pain - have you ever been in a court of law? Have you ever been involved in high level professional contract deals? have you ever sat in on House of parliament? Watch professionally intelligent people debate and you will notice clever 'enlightened' people look forward to being proved wrong, they look forward to the learning process it offers. They know when they have enough facts to argue, they know when its time to let go, tell a joke and make some friends and they know not to default to a grave digging comment like 'get off my dick'. If I had been in your situation and started getting attacked by other people on the forum I would be surely asking myself why? Do I really know what Im saying? Is the topic I've chosen to talk about one I can truly argue about? Are they really pised off at me or are they ganging up a bit for a joke? Am I making it easier for them to joke? If I can't understand the facts better can I understand how to communicate with others better. 'If you can't beat em join em' you've spent a lot of time copying and researching the internet, Im sure some of those research skills could come in handy for future topics. We're all here together to have a good time and learn new things about the world and ourselves. Start forming scrums and you'll turn it into a game of rugby. But I qualify this is only my opinion!

    The next Buddha

A new buddha or neo tourism hero?...people visiting from all over the place, suddenly his family and town have new income and interest... hmmm Someone should start a pizza oven nearby the tree and really put this kid to the test. I would have been called a flamin idiot if I had mispent my youth under a tree, not a buddha.

    What is it?

The colour of the subject looks wrong - too orange. Is really interesting to think there might be a hominid human ancestor running around out there in wild parts of the world. The problem is when you study ecology and the successive fitness of species, low populations of species tend to die out (become extinct) pretty quickly. It would be very very difficult for a population of these creatures to hold on surviving in the modern world with ever increasing habitat loss let alone an isolated individual. In many ways it would be nice if someone actually ended up filming a real creature whatever it is (lochie, yowie, ufo alien, good australian politician) in clear detail but then I also think we'd loose part of that unkown, that mystery. Its good to have mystery in ones life whever the facts they're based on are true or not.

    paddock, woodchip sterility

Rev, mate, awesome response and much appreciated. Not only did you answer my question but added, subtracted, divided and multiplied it!

    paddock, woodchip sterility

I've always been curious about this. I apologise if this has been asked elsewhere in the past and that its such a simple question. I have 2 Stamets books on order, being delivered for xmas, that may help answer this question - its just bugging me for some reason and Im impatient  A mushroom growing wild in a paddock or on mulch surely must be faced with a myriad of conditions that could contaminate mycelium - a cow paddock is not exactly a sterile lab. Whats the dynamic that lets them grow in such exposed, seemingly vulnerable, areas whereas indoors maximum sterility is required?
  25. botanika

    humidity

Can pins handle being sprayed like that? Could the spray damage the mycelium? Will try also. Just used to leaving them alone usually and letting them do their thang
