Can anyone help me identify this? when I picked it, it had a white veil covering the entirety of the gills. Any help would be much appreciated

Amanita muscaria, im fairly sure (if you're asking for an ID that is). either way cool find, I think these are beautiful and haven't had much of a chance to find them as I don't live near many pine tree plantations

It may be, it for sure wasn't growing on wood. Although, the wood could have been decomposed! Infact, I think this is very likely as it was growing about 10 inches away from a patch of Psilocybe Subaeruginosa.

Me too, I started a spore print about 45 minutes ago so hopefully that will narrow it down a bit!

Haha I have no clue, I was on a walk with my grandma and she commented that it looked like an edible. So I thought even if not, it'd be interesting to see what it is Although after randomly googling Agaricus and Cortinarius I think that it's probably an Agaricus sp over Cortinarius Also I read that Cortinarius have veils on young specimens that usually completely disappear, I think that the mushroom I found was mature. I'm not certain about this but i suspect it

There is no ring on the stipe, so I don't believe it to to be Agaricus augustus Also out of season in Australia

Just looking for what books on fungi people would reccomend, I've heard that most people really like 'Field Guide to Australian Fungi'. But what other books would you all recommend? Possibly one on Mycena species (If a book like that exists) would be great. Thanks
