  1. So I got given a bag of random herbs from a friend of a friend and inside this bag was a small sappy bag with 3 tiny beads inside it. I of course disposed of them immediately. These things where a clear blue colour, less than half the size of a match head. I had an idea of what they could have been but not sure. I'm just wondering has anyone seen anything like this before

Are you still in contact with the FOAF? Can you ask them? That would probably be way easier than speculating.

  2. I love how the media's managed to turn this into another 'personality' story, ignoring the actual story of the NSA legally spying on citizens. Because the actual story's too hard, and some scrawny guy taking shirtless selfies in his bedroom is easier and grabs more attention.

I really hope we're able to find out what else they've been watching before this story turns into a made-for-tv movie and a fanclub. Doubt it though.

  3. For any of y'all who play DS/3DS. I think this code is valid at time of typing, but I can't use it since I've already registered another copy of Fire Emblem: Awakening. G8UPHY07G32WFCD8.

  4. I will happily garden naked BUT I have a question, can I get i trouble from the law for pushing around the lawn mower naked? Before answering keep in mind I'm talking about the front lawn on a very busy main road . I am now thinking how funny it would be to see some peoples reactions as they drive by!

There is a reason people wear long pants and boots while mowing the lawn!! If you do this next year, please post pictures of your injuries.

  5. Here's a recipe for making your own jam out of basically whatever fruit you want: http://www.nwedible.com/2012/08/how-to-make-pectin-free-jam.html . This chick is fully crunchy self-sustainability, so when she puts stuff in a can, you can guarantee it's safe to eat next year. The Davidson Plum specific recipes I've seen (http://feedyourinnercook.blogspot.com.au/2013/01/davidson-plum-jam.html and http://www.bellingeneye.com/2012/07/18/davisons-plum-jam/) have a 1:1 ratio of fruit mass to sugar, though, so the pectin-free recipe might be a bit tart for your liking.

  6. I'm sure you have heard of the new Pepsi next that uses 30% less sugar than normal Pepsi due to the addition of using a natural sweetener from the Stevia plant, well that's exactly what I plan on using for my home-made Rosella jam. I'm guessing it will still need SOME sugar though...

Be very careful about changing the sugar content of jam recipes if you're not planning to eat them immediately! The sugar content in jam is what preserves it long-term. If you're going to keep the jar in the fridge and eat it in the month or so after you make it, you should be okay, but for a shelf-stable product you should find a reputable, tested recipe.

  7. I doubt they would add things to the product, especially if they want to establish themselves. In America it is so easy to get great quality weed cheaply. If a brand has an adulterated or significantly more expensive product, they aren't going to stick around. People are going to get it from other sources.

I listened to this great Planet Money the other day about the US marijuana market, and strongly recommend it: http://www.npr.org/blogs/money/2013/05/07/182010027/episode-456-marijuana-arbitragehttp://www.npr.org/blogs/money/2013/05/07/182010027/episode-456-marijuana-arbitrage

  8. any way back to the topic has anyone ever been charged under qld law for cacti

I have not known of anyone who has been charged under QLD law for cacti. I have a cacti and succulent collection in my front garden which includes a couple of San Pedros. They are in plain view of the street. I've also seen San Pedros sold at Bunnings, and purchased one from a smaller local nursery.

If they are the only thing you're growing, it may look a bit suss. Otherwise, relax.

  9. Why can't they be with the new person? Do they truly prefer the new person, or do they just want it because it's 'forbidden'? This is an important consideration. Forbidden love is super romantic and super dramatic, but often once the forbidden aspect is removed, the relationship collapses.

Then again, staying in an unhappy relationship is not fair for either party.

If they respect the one they're with, they won't try to keep up this deceit. It will be ugly, but if they truly prefer the new partner's company, ,it's best to end the original relationship so they can devote 100% of their attention.
