Had to do horrible things today. I left my crested pach outside over winter and we ended up having some heavy snows, which normally never happens! Anyway it got a few spots of rot. After continuously cutting the spots out over the last couple of months I realised I was going to have to take some drastic measures to save the plant. Here is the result:
-
I've got a lid on the container that they are sitting in which I normally spray a bit of water into each morning, so I will keep doing that
-
Currently the cutting is wrapped up in a damp paper towel so i might just wait another day or so then jam it in
-
Also could anyone tell me how long to wait before replanting a cutting from the pereskiopsis?
-
So this is the first attempt at grafting a loph onto a peres after several unsuccessful attempts at grafting onto various trich's. Hopefully this one works!
-
Have asked for more photos now. It's going for $30 so i'm hoping it is a tricho but im not convinced at this stage
-
Only have this 1 pic at the moment but will ask for more if needed.

The difference some shade can make to a loph...

I just put up some shade cloth (it's about 30-40% shade) and it's under that almost the whole day, although gets about 2 hours of direct sunlight in the evening. It was in direct sunlight for about 4ish hours of the day -
So the first 2 photos were taken almost exactly one month ago and the last 2 I took earlier today. Who knew some shade would help so much!

Same here, very drool worthy

Hoping this is the right place to ask.... I've got a loph grafted onto a myrtillo currently and it seems to have taken but recently the loph has put out a few roots. It doesn't seem to have grown at all since it was grafted which was maybe 4 months ago. Has this happened to anyone before?
-
Haha yeah it was sort of unintentional. Bought a couple, cut out the middle then decided I might as well plant the heads and bases and see what happens. Then the obsession just kinda grew from there... Always on the look out for some variety though I'd be willing to put up money for that A few had flowers when I got them so i'm hoping they will be kind to me and flower again this year... time will tell!

It definitely wasn't a nice thing to come home too, although all the plants made a full recovery

Could you just use any BBQ charcoal? I end up spending heaps on the prepackaged shisha coals...
