  1. Well, when i was young and naive i was as flakey as Young tripper and jumped on the mckenna/leary bandwagon. After many many dmt/s.d trips i have discovered that these so called "other dimensions" and "machine elves" are a load of wank.

When you get to know how the brain operates and different levels of consciousness there is no need for this mystic, jedi knight shaman sacred knowledge spiritual elitism bs.

It is the stuff of lesser minds.

Cheers, that makes your point clearer, fair enough. Though I would suggest that the 'other dimensions' and 'machine elves' were integral parts to Terence Mckenna's experiences with DMT and he philosophised about them. Lets remember that Mckenna was very well educated, as was Leary so it is incorrect to suggest that they were anything less. 'A load of wank' I suppose is another way of saying that it is utter rubbish, but it is merely one mans vision and his interpretation of what he has seen so I don't see how it is a 'load of wank'.

And I don't know what you are referring to with your 'jedi knights' and 'spiritual elitism' I think you might be going a bit far there, unless I am missing something?

  2. Screw that, the past was full of primates in loin cloths mistaking dreams for spirits and other bs. Then we have mckenna and leary who made a living selling bs to simple minded fools. Altering brain chemistry, temporarily suspending the 5 senses and allowing conciousness to get confused for 5 to 10 minutes is a hoot but hardly spiritual enlightenment for the select few self appointed gurus of bs.

Fuck the mystification of 21st century demystified psychology and neuroscience.

Glenn, you may never have learned of DMT or LSD if it wasn't for McKenna and Leary. I can imagine you on drugs dude, like a shallow child ''ooohh im trippin, im trippin'' and thinking to yourself that the voices your hearing, the messages you recieve, the things you see are really only a projection of the altered biochem in your brain and therefore hold no special meaning. So then you take drugs just for a buzz? something to do on a friday night?

  3. I think stimulants are good because have the added benefit of being stimulating . One thing a lot of overweight people have in common is inactivity, they are incredibly lazy and consume very little energy compared to the shit foods (high energy/ refined sugars/ fats) some of them shovel into their mouths. So they really benefit from the stimulating nature and find motivation and energy to expend energy. For some cases I think the dangers of being obese outweigh the dangers of a well planned weight loss program incorporating powerful stimulants.

  4. You should be exchanging the air within the fruiting chamber at a minimum of once an hour, though its recommended you do 4 exchanges per hour for optimum, healthy, contam free growth.

Totally overkill in my opinion. It depends on the total volume of the growing container. I have frequently left a growing container with 15litre volume for days with no FAE, with minimal negative effects. I have also observed the following; several cased mixes thrown into a big zip loc bag, (guess 3litre capacity) never given FAE grow shrooms quite long and fat. They were left to rot and die, still no FAE, there was a large second flush all quite big specimens, then left to die and rot in the bag with still no FAE, there were subsequent 3rd and 4th flushes which were half contaminated by this time. My point is don't get to fussed about FAE, its fairly overrated. Most important factors are temp and humidity IMHO.

Remember the more FAE, the more you lower humidity so if you do 4 exchanges per hour I expect you must have a heated water reservoir for humidity. I recommend once- twice a day is sufficient. Don't over complicate things, if the temp and humidity is right they will grow.

  5. When I went overseas I had some with a friend. For me a little bit, ie one small leaf can go a long way. I cant comment whether it is the plant or you. But I am quite sensitive to psychoactives since I ceased using them so frequently.

  6. Hi all,

So ephedra has been very popular in the past with diet people. Caffeine also a proven weight loss tool. Amphetamines can be observed to have a very dramatic effect on weight loss. All these compounds are CNS stimulants, is it the CNS stimulating effect that causes the weight loss? Or another mechanism.

And closely related to these is the compounds in catha, so one would assume that catha might have similar weight loss potential as ephedra. Please everyone chip in with your opinion, knowledge. Especially the biochem/ physiology knowledge peoples. Cheerio

  7. well its been a while since i posted the first pics and since then the graft has grown considerably.

    med_gallery_1044_3_54730.jpg

The scion has busted out the base with some roots, in fact most of the base around the grafting spot is swollen and stretched and looks to be also breaking out with roots. I think its a good time to snip it off the perekiopsis and pot it up. You should be able to see the roots in the following pic, sorry about the bad focus.

  8. Hey dudes. The other day I was feeling like shit (run down, tired, lethargic, unmotivated). I was looking at my garden and how much everything has grown through the summer. In particular a Khat plant of white veined, clone variety, that I re-potted half way through summer resulting in excellent growth and health in the plant.

I was visually picking side shoots that might do well as cuttings and thought it might be nice to eat a leaf, so I picked a big new growth leaf from the tip of a side shoot and proceeded to chew it. It tasted good, not especially tannic or volatile, just organic and a little bitter but not especially so. The leaf lasted a good ten minutes of chewing.

An hour or two later I felt good as gold. I had a distinctive film across my field of vision which is hard to explain but I get it from a good dose of coffee or energy drinks, amphetamine. It isn't impairing in the slightest, just a barely noticeable change that is neither positive or negative, but made me think that my improved mood and energy levels were from the Khat.

I was mildly stimulated for the remainder of the evening. To my surprise I could not sleep as hard as I tried for many hours after I had retired to bed.

I'm sure this is an unusual account and I attribute it to my personal sensitivity to most psychoactive substances. Are there any theories on drug sensitivity which investigate increasing sensitivity to compound/s over time as they have learned the compound or become familiar with them, they bind more strongly??? Or if high doses are used for periods of time and then completely ceased for a long time only tiny amounts are needed to produce significant effect?

One classic case is the person who cant get stoned for the first time until they smoke many pipes of very high potency bud. Then once they have been properly stoned, only small amounts are needed in future to produce noticeable effects.

  9. Hahaha, It certainly does not look like a pedro. It was grown from seed sold as pedro, only time will tell I suppose. The spines suggest something more macro/ bridgesoid I think.

It was grown outdoors. I had to keep cutting off the leaves because after grafting it kept pupping from the aereoles. The scion did not show any sign of growth for many months then it just went crazy. There is hardly any chlorophyll visible in the poor pereskiopsis. Soon I will slice it off and root it, I think i will leave some on the pereskiopsis stock to see if it will throw a pup.

  10. Hey dudes, have not contributed for a while. Heres a san pedro seedling from SAB grafted approx 6months ago onto pereskiopsis stock.

The weight of it is so great that the stock needs support to stop it from falling over.

  11. Been doing lots of weight lifting recently, and have basically ceased all entheogen use. I find it interesting to note that after an intense bout of heavy weights, particularly , movements which require alot of energy and muscle such as a squat or deadlift session I am left feeling very nauseous and intoxicated. The nausea passes quickly (<5 minutes) But the intoxication remains for 20minutes ish. My eyelids are heavy I feel like I have just smoked a whole lot of opium :drool2: . On occasion I will lie down and go into a deep sleep for 30minutes or so.

What do you reckon? Have I become particularly sensitve to my bodies own painkillers? Or is this the norm,,, its a healthy way to get high :)

:bong: hope every1s well, cheers dudes

  12. This is called "withdrawal symptoms, side-effects or after-effects"

Acknowledged, I mixed withdrawl symptoms up with the psychosis. I understand that it is not a true psychosis and I suppose it only bares some resemblance to a true psychosis.

    Most notable symptoms that come to mind are intense paranoia;

scared to go into bright public places like a shopping centre,

Thinking that friends or the whole world are working against you, or plotting to kill you,ect

another symptom is some megalomania, delusions of grandeur, strange powers ect

and others;, Getting stuck in the same train of thought,

Dwelling over something for a long period of time

Its important to note that these symptoms only persist while they are being fed with copious amounts of cannabis, and after stopping cannabis they cease quickly. So I suppose they are really only short term effects that come about from an extended period of being stoned.

I retract my crazy talk statement

  13. excellent post greeny, glad to hear that you pulled through it all.

I know a large percentage of people here (including myself) are advocates for the medical/ theripeutical use of cannabis but I think some people are in denial that cannabis can and does cause a specific form of psychosis, and greeny has described it well. I have experienced psychosis in the past from 'chronic' smoking of weed over a period of 4 years. When i say chronic I mean smoking 3-8 pipes/ bongs, 3-4 times per day and triple that on the weekend.

It becomes a lifestyle, and I think this is what greeny was saying. The reason for his messed up diet and sleep ect were part of the lifestyle resulting from totally chronic weed smoking?

As for cannabis revealing latent psychosis, well can someone explain that one to me? Because I dont see how someone who displays psychosis from marijuana usage can be proved that they would have experienced that later in life, or that it was lying dormant. The only thing that would be solid fact to go on would be the family history of mental illness. But if someone develops a state of psychosis from smoking marijuana then any later episodes could be said to be the result of psychosis induced by cannabis earlier on in life.

    Cannabis will uncover latent psychosis.

What you experienced, was already there, cannabis brought it out, you went into treatment, hopefully you are better now.

Ah! thats crazy talk. Thats not unlike saying 'smoking crack cocaine will bring out latent psychosis, you went nuts and killed your friend, the crack brought it all out into the open, your friends dead, you are in jail, now that you have got that out of your head you should be better.

I have seen other people also develop a psychosis, it bares a resemblance to amphetamine psychosis where the sufferer usually becomes extremely violent and aggressive when they are not stoned, couple this with huge paranoia of people plotting against you ect and it could have a serious result.
