Thanks Rabaelthazar... it kinda reminded me of a flying saucer... the true origin of shrooms for sure! That was my fav too
-
I had some luck today, and what a great day it was for a hunt too These are some of the most beautiful specimens i've seen, there must have been 50-60 all up, some up to 8cm across...
-
A few tasties, albeit dry tasties, but its nice to find something nonetheless!
-
For those in Melbourne, is the season likely to go on much longer? When does it usually come to an end out this way (se suburbs)? Cheers
-
Hi folks, Out and about today and found a vast wonderland of these fellows... I'm pretty certain these are horse mushrooms. Anyone able to verify? I have much more experience iding the more blueish variety of fungus Thanks
-
Oh man these all look so mouthwatering! Re the inky/iodine smell.. thats the odd part, there is virtually no smell at all... Is it normally very powerful?
-
Actually, on second take, it does bruise quite yellow... Thank you for the ID, saved me some illness!
-
I had a look at the stem, and there is no yellowing, even when bruised. There are no funny smells... It smells just like a regular field mushroom... Is there any reason they would have a little yellowing? None of the others seemed to have it.

konakavafarm.com seems pretty good, with excellent prices (far cheaper than the competition)

Nice attitude mate, you'll be helping a lot of people in more ways than one. Respect.

Sorry to upset you your highness. Obviously being such an experienced master you would realise that the number of posts on corroboree does not equal hunting experience. People are often not just asking about whether its possible to find them here, so much as asking if people have had much luck in certain areas purely out of interest. As such not everyone who posts infrequently is ignorant to the growing conditions of our little friends. MELBOURNE + WOODCHIPS does not equal guaranteed success; eltham for example is a great area to hunt as the conditions are perfect, the CBD on the other hand is far less perfect. If you dont want to answer, then dont. If you have a desire to, then dont try to make others feel shit about thier questions, its immature.

Good question soundman, im wondering the same thing too. I moved down here last year but never had to opportunity to go for a hunt.. This year's a different matter though! I would love to know if people have had much success in inner melb, or surrounding subs such as carlton, pascoe vale etc. Any feedback would be great (no specifics of course ;). Obviously cow pats or horse etc are not necessary, so its more a question of eucalypt patches.

Thanks for the info on the mushies guys Ive been doing a bit of reading but cant get much info on them beyond the feedback here and in a shroomery forum, which means a no go. Wont be taking any risks The general consensus it would seem is that they are mycena, which is what ppl on shroomery have said also. Good to know what is around nonetheless. Plus, i wont be needing anything more than the other lovely patch i found! Good luck to all with their hunts. Ill be sure to post some more pics soon also. Thanks again all, Crix.

Under post reply, and file attachments, goto browse and then add attachment. Aside from the other shrooms discovered yesterday, we found a whole heap of what look like p.eucalypta at some good local spots. Taking spore prints

Hey all. After a big hunt today, found these, and was wondering if anyone knew what they were? Lots of blueing on the stems, also on some heads.
-
Hahah I think it might be a good idea, perhaps then god will just cut to the chase and rain down the manna

For those in Canberra, there are no signs of any actives as of yet. Will keep you posted
-
Haha yea i get that!, Im from Melbourne initally, but when i was there had no idea about these fungi we all love so much What a shame, as i was in the dandenongs! perfect area for them. Have lived in Canberra now for 5 years, and am certainly getting the bug to move Braidwoods a good idea, never really considered it before. Might have to go on a road trip in a few weeks methinks. Cant wait for may!
-
Lol, Botanika, thats funny shit Nice to see people are being generous with their knowledge on a roadway! Ill have to go for a cruise up there some time to check it out. Are you from Canberra? To all, when are you expecting sub growth in your local areas?
-
Hi all, Almost that time again! I've been checking around Canberra, but nothing yet. For those that don't know, the Botanical Gardens is a great place to look Good luck everyone, Crix.

Where to find mushrooms for photography.(Took some pics in my garden please ID)
crix replied to Ferrari's topic in Mycology
Hey Mate, Its great that youre out and about getting into the hunting spirit of things, tis good fun for sure. Strangely enough, the more you hunt, the more addictive it becomes. I recommend going camping for a while, obviously in a nice location, so as to 'hunt'. Making the research an objective of the holiday gives purpose to the whole trip; much more exciting than a usual holiday Youre photos are very small, blurry and painfully out of focus. Sorry to be so blunt, but re. Mycology you need a relatively high res image to even attempt a half decent analysis of a species. Keep in mind that even when a species type is suggested through careful analysis, the ID may still wrong given that there are many look-alikes in the highly diverse word of the fungus in Australia. The only real way to ID a shroom is through spore print/analysis techniques. Good luck, and excuse my ramblings. Tired, Crix. -
Im really digging back here in the old posts, just reading through, but thought it would be interesting to note that by far my most intense experience has been a combination of smoking and tea. I had about 4g dried, and a j' worth as well. Strangely the trip lasted for around 2hrs, after which time i felt completely normal again (bizzare i know, but cant explain!) I made the 4g into a tea and drank that. About 30 mins later i felt the inital onset which lead to some interesting visuals, after which time i then smoked the mushroom joint as a little experiment. Another 10 mins and very very strong visuals were setting in. For example, complete visual echoes. Walls were triple their real depth, with transparent copies overlaying one another. I told a sitter and he leant back against the wall, completely merging with the damn thing Quite bizzare. I progressed to my bedroom and placed on some mild lighting with jungle music and sat to meditate. Within 10 mins by body virtually gave way as i collapsed on the bed. At this point i find it very hard to explain, with 'existence as a particle of light' being the only potential match Eventually i returned from this state, and went back out into the living room. (100 mins in) The visual echoes were still ocurring. Within the next 20-30 minutes the experience vitually faded to nothing, after which point i ended up going to the casino for two hours with housemates. I wish i knew why the experience was so incredibly intense, and why it lasted only 2 and a bit hours. I can only equate to the smoking and relatively large dose combination. BTW, i have had many experiences with P.australiana and P.eucalypta. Any suggestions would be great Crix.

Hey everyone, I was hoping that someone could give me some info on the grow season for cubes in the ACT? Also any advise on general grow locations would be great Sorry if a new thread is not appropriate for such a question Crix.
