I think that was iiNet vs Copyright holders or something though, wasn't it? Not Australian ISP(s) vs The Govt. Very different ball game :\

The Currency Revolution - With Bitcoin
at0m replied to qwertyuiop's topic in Sustainable Technologies & Ethical Living
Gox crumbled awhile ago. It's been shitting itself ever since whilst it hangs from it's noose. It hasn't had majority for months. Thankfully that lesson was learnt. Everything else is good though. Crypto's been a bit crazy lately in general. It was stable (relatively) for awhile but has just been shitting itself lately at the slightest sound in the distance the last week or so -
Utopia, Silk Road's Latest Replacement, Only Lasted Nine Days

Just going to post it here aswell: Definitely seems like SR2.0 has done a runner and is blaming it on TM, hoping someone will believe them. http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1xu4he/it_is_clear_that_silk_road_2_funds_were_stolen_by/ sums it up pretty well. -
Utopia, Silk Road's Latest Replacement, Only Lasted Nine Days
at0m replied to CLICKHEREx's topic in News & Notices
Because it's easy and a lot of people don't have connections plus, they don't really have a clue what's going on. They just hear you can buy drugs online with magic, anonymous internet monies and jump at the opportunity. Most don't even take the precaution of using encryption like gpg/pgp. Infact, it's not just black markets on the 'darknet'. It extends to all these hosted services. Nobody seems to know or care that things just aren't secure and don't take any security precautions themselves. It's really depressing going to password dumps of hacked sites and seeing the majority using 'password' or some variation thereof. -

I like your posts (saves me looking for them elsewhere) but please work on your copy pasting a little. It's so hard to read. As for the actual content... I'm surprised more markets haven't been busted. They're so badly coded it's ridiculous. Kids with enough knowledge to get the basics working but not enough experience to realise what they're writing is swiss-cheese. In semi-related news, looks like silkroad 2 has, allegedly, been hit by a transaction malleability attack. If it's true, it sort of proves my point if they don't have mitigation against a bug that's been around for quite awhile and is very well documented, if they're using it as an excuse to do a runner, that's not too surprising either. -
Oh golly... I wonder what has been stumbled upon.

bitcoin 2.0 blockchain, decentralisation, the end of middlemen?

Anywhere that accepts it Everywhere from overstock.com to people making and selling alpaca socks. Just keep an eye out for "Bitcoin Accepted Here" or search for "<thing you want to buy> bitcoin". -
bitcoin 2.0 blockchain, decentralisation, the end of middlemen?
at0m replied to Dreamwalker.'s topic in Chill Space
No and no. 1 BTC is currently around $1,100 AUD but you do not need to buy a whole bitcoin. You could buy 0.01, 0.001, 0.0001, etc. It's divisible to 8 decimal places. You cannot counterfeit them as they are all part of a single, decentralized, chain which has been verified by all of the 'miners'. To put it simply: Cryptography and mathematics. I do like the trend toward decentralized technology, it helps keep the content and services of the internet free from people who may wish to control it. Absolutely no clue how/if it would work in real life though. -
subterranean boxes won't help either. They'll just monitor the reverberations. Cryptocat has had a few issues recently so I wouldn't overly trust them. Check out something like bitmessage (+tor) and gpg though (even though bitmessages are encrypted themselves).

The Tor Network We're living in interesting times http://media.ccc.de/browse/congress/2013/30C3_-_5423_-_en_-_saal_1_-_201312272030_-_the_tor_network_-_jacob_-_arma.html Not directly bitcoin related but I think this should be seen by anyone who's into this kind of thing. -

I recall experiencing storms like that back in South Africa. They were a little bit magical. Never experienced one in Australia though. -

The Currency Revolution - With Bitcoin

The whole article. They don't seem to understand that allure of bitcoin is that it's decentralised, 'anonymous' and without regulation. They also think it's trying to compete when, imo, it's really not. It will always survive as a side/secondary currency, likely not as 'legal tender' but falling under some bartering/trade laws? In short, there are no "Controllers" of bitcoin... there may be whales, sure, but I don't believe they alone have the power to manipulate the market to the extend he's talking about. As for the future of bicoin... my prediction is there's still a way to go before stability. There will be a few spikes and a few crashes but all in all, the trend remains up. Whether you should buy in as an investment is based on how much you have to spare and for how long. If you've got a couple grand floating around that you're happy to put invest for a few weeks or a few months... I'd buy now at whatever the cheapest you can find is. There is also money to be made in day trading but that's way beyond my knowledge. A whole different field. As opposed investing in gold/silver? I have no idea. I don't see the appeal to be honest. If the economy collapse or whatever the supposed plan is, why would people want pretty shiny things? -

With all due respect, that is the biggest load of shit I've read recently. Just about every paragraph in there is incorrect/hyperbole/flat out bullshit. Perhaps if I have the energy I'll respond to them but it really is just about every paragraph :\ -

Hey, I'm after some root stock for some grafting. I've got some fairly hefty pups I've got to take off and a couple seedlings of a certain spineless variety. I guess I'm after peres? Happy to pay via paypal, bank deposit or bitcoin Some questions too: Can hefty pups (2-3cm+ diameter) be safely cut off? Can they throw roots once they're calloused? Sand? Coir? Can they be grafted onto root stock of any diameter within reason or does 80%+ of the vascular ring need to join up? Edit: Got some, cheers.

I agree and it's a bit annoying but at the same time I hope it gets it out of it system and finds it's price. Hyper inflation.
