Mammillaria ID

Question

I bought this 2 weeks ago and I was told it's a mammillaria monstrose.

Anyone knows what this beauty is?

Maybe it's related to the weather?

I thought this too but seen a few pics of younger looking ones kinda changed my mind, what you think?

It seems to be a mass produced plant which makes it a much more likely candidate for one you'd pick up from a nursery, and there seems to be plenty of variation...

My Google images results were totally different, but the pics you post SJ look very similar to mine.

And I agree, he probably picked it up from a nursery in Thailand.

Thanks a lot guys. I appreciate your efforts.

sab turning up to be quite the cactus forum for IDs even!

maybe it was called monstrosa because it seems indeed to be an "inermis" (spineless) form of some "proper" species..
