gtarman Posted December 16, 2013 Hey all. So I've heard talk that there's (at least) two kinds of nitrogen compounds you can get from different fertilizers - one being ammonia and the other being nitrates I think? Sorry if that's wrong and/or stupid sounding, I'm a bit of an ignoramus when it comes to anything chemistry-related. But I heard that some plants love the ammonia form, and some are quite sensitive to it and don't handle it very well. I tried finding out more from Google but couldn't seem to find a decent source of info on it. So does anybody know which fertilizers contain which type, and when you might use one and not the other? At the moment I just use fish emulsion for pretty much all my plants. Cheers Gman
