  4. From the album Trichocereus scopulicola x Trichocereus terscheckii

Album of Trichocereus scopulicola x Trichocereus terscheckii. If you have any of this cross please post to this album so I can see them.
  5. Some recent grafts of mine. I'm hoping for some colorful blooms on these seedling grafts one day.
  6. From the album Trichocereus scopulicola x Trichocereus terscheckii

Grafted before wrapped seedling shown above, but from same batch of seedlings.
  7. From the album Trichocereus Freaks

This little fellow has spines like no other hybrid seedling I have grown. It is truly one of a kind in that regard. The picture does not do it justice. Thick spines are to die for. I can't wait to see how this little Zelly hybrid progresses.
  8. From the album Trichocereus Freaks

Trichocereus validus x variegated red grandi
  9. If there is a hybrid of e.g. a Trichocereus from mother x father plants, does the resulting hybrid derive its physical/biochemical characteristics primarily from the mother or father, equally from both, or from one or the other depending on what the parent plants are? Is there a rule of thumb governing this? Thanks in advance for help on this basic Q!
  10. Interspecific hybrid seed soon to be available. Mother is an intraspecific Datura metel hybrid with purple outer skirt and yellow inner skirt. Father is a wild collected Datura wrightii collected from the Mojave desert. Seed is available for trade for Trichocereus pachanoi seed, pollen, or SASE for first 4 people to reply. I like to have SASE prior to seed maturing fully as I like to send out seeds the day the pod opens and not the day after. I can't be seen sending out old seed after all.
  11. From the album Hybrid propagation via grafting or crosspollination

    Lime colored (SS02 x SS01) x Red Grandi
  12. From the album Hybrid propagation via grafting or crosspollination

Just another update on Trichocereus Peru2 x validus hybridized by Zelly. As you can see, she has a nice pup coming along at her base.
  13. From the album Hybrid propagation via grafting or crosspollination

Here we have (SS02 x SS01) mom x (red grandi) dad courtesy again of Zelly. Stock plant is Trichocereus pachanoi. I am hoping to get some nice flowers on these crosses asap. If these hybrids act like some of Zelly's other hybrids I suspect I will have flowers within 2 years on some of these and that is when the fun really begins. Again, I'm a little excited as these little seedlings represent a wonderful new direction of possibilities that I fully intend to explore.
  14. From the album Hybrid propagation via grafting or crosspollination

Datura metel hybrid crossed with Datura wrightii pollen sourced from Mojave desert.
  15. From the album Hybrid propagation via grafting or crosspollination

Zelly hybrid seedling graft Peru2 x Validus.
  16. From the album Hybrid propagation via grafting or crosspollination

Here we have (SS02 x SS01) mom x (red grandi) dad courtesy again of Zelly. Stock plant is Trichocereus pachanoi

Zelly hybrid seedlings triple grafted. Two seedlings grafted to areoles of Pereskiopsis.
  19. From the album Hybrid propagation via grafting or crosspollination

Zelly hybrid seedlings grafted to Trichocereus pachanoi. SS02 x SS01 x Red Grandi
  20. Hybrid seed of Datura metel (mom purple outer skirt/yellow inner skirt) x Datura wrightii (dad light lavender). Datura wrightii seed collected from Mojave desert. Seed is in the process of maturing. I didn't quite no where to post this as i will accept SASE otherwise known as Self Addressed Stamped Envelope, Donation, or trade for seeds once mature. Seed takes 60 days to mature once crossed. Items of interest for trade are Trichocereus pachanoi pollen, seed, etc. If you have nothing to trade and no money please just send SASE and I will get seed out to you. I know some people can't afford plants/seeds, etc. so this is a good way to get them if you honestly can't spare a dollar or have nothing to trade. Please do not tell me if you are sending cash or haggle with me over cost. It is what you think the cross is worth and what you can afford. I will not turn anyone down save if I think I will not have enough seed to fill the order. I only take orders after pods have secured themselves and are past the point of dropping prematurely as often happens with such crosses the way I make them. I pollinate long before the anthers ripen and long before the flower opens or comes out of the calyx on its own. I then try to pollinate again as pistil matures. Hit me up with an instant message if you are interested.

I don't expect these cuts to be available for long. I've already had quite a few people show interest in these rarer, more mature hybrids. If you're interested shoot me a PM so I can also calculate how much postage will be to your area code. I'll answer any queries to the best of my ability and of course bartering is always welcome
  22. Hi guys, I´ll be giving away some free seeds to my SAB family members here! I´ll limit this giveaway to one type to reduce the the workload for labeling and packing. I´ll give away seed bags of my new Trichocereus pachanoi type from my shop on which you can see here. There will be another giveway with Trichocereus tulhuayacensis soon. It´s a beautiful type of Trichocereus that is very variable and can be totally spineless or very spiny. The seeds are fresh from 2015 and I´ll give away one bag per SAB family member. Everyone interested, please send me a pm with the title "Pachanoi giveaway" and your address, including the complete name and the country. I know that most are from Australia but I just want to make sure I dont accidentially send it to some missionaries in Yemen. Please write your address in a way that allows me to print the address on a printable sticker, so I can process this giveaway faster! With that I mean, just write it how you want it to be written on the letter and I´ll copy and paste that. I´ll label the seeds "Trichocereus pachanoi" and declare it as a "cactus seeds" and "gift". Which it is. I cannot use a different label, but it´s a permitted import and all the seeds I send are according to AQUIS and CITES. It´s very possible that seeds are opened, but that´s totally fine as they are perfectly labeled. Shipping can take up to 6-8 weeks because I´ll have to pack these in between processing my orders and doing EG-stuff. So expect 1-2 months delivery time. If nothing shows after that, just let me know and I´ll send you a replacement. So yeah, bring on the storm. Merry Christmas SAB! bye EG
  23. I just harvested seed from a cross I made of a red-flowered clumping SS Echinopsis hybrid (forget which one exactly, but one of the parents was T. andagalensis) with Trichocereus arboricola. I have some seed available for trade and for people who will definitely grow them out.
  24. Every time I look at my plants lately I really appreciate the value of them but I can't help thinking that the job has only been half done. To my way of thinking if the plant had been back crossed with the viridis the full potential of the viridis could be attained as far as alkaloids go. If it had the cold tolerance of a carth then it would be a much desired plant. If two separate crosses were done from the same parents with one line being bread for size & cold tolerance and another line bred specifically for alkaloid content and the two lines crossed when the traits were fixed a plant could be produced that could have enormous potential. Most likely two separate lines would not need to be started, it's just that two separate lines would make it easier to fix specific traits and not rely on as much luck. I'd love to do this myself, but I don't have an environment that a viridis will thrive in so it's all just a pie in the sky really.
  25. So i grew around 100 ss02 x bridgesii seedlings out and ended up with around 40 left after some foolish descisions. I have ended up with this little cutie looking quite a bit different to the rest. It has formed a little globe on the top with spines coming out any which way whereas the rest have continued to grow in a columnar fashion from the get go. I will attach pics of a regular one and the freak for you to chec out. By the way the dome is swelling i am hoping it might actually crest or something as it isn't growing up but rather out or else maybe it got damaged on the tip or something? hoping one of the members on here might be able to help me figure it out. Originally i thought it was just a slower developer but as it now doesn't seem to want to grow up like the rest i am hoping for a mutant. It may be wishful thinking but meh. here is the regular ss02 x Bridgesii seedling showing typical growth traits of all the rest These are the one that has shown odd growth pretty much from the start.
