I have a Cereus that is getting to tall for the patch it is in and I am wondering what would be the best way to trim it? I was thinking of just giving a massive swing with a knife and hope i cut through it all in one fowl sweep.... but I feel like I probably wouldn't get through it in one swing and id open it up to much for rot and such... How do you guys and gals usually trim your lovely cacti? Thanks!!!

Strange... I was really only just guessing haha Maybe its like the cactus using the water/energy from lower down to fuel all its new growth.... I dunno I am sure someone who actually does will chime in xD

I thought that sort of thing happens when the cacti stop growing as much over winter and then grow way faster in summer so you get this kind of I dunno what to call it but pretty much what you see in the pics... Also the wrinkles are usually a sign of dehydration...

wouldn't it need to break down a bit first? i doubt fresh blood would do much but letting it break down into usable nutrients first would be better???

I just had a massive brain block so cant think of what its called... but you could put a question thing in this thread asking which seed vendor people recommend or whatever or some kind of way that people can vote on which place is the best kinda thing... so then people dont have to go through each one they can just go to the one that has the best rating or whatever.... hope this makes sense!

What makes you think there is a nitrogen deficiency? I always thought that was the one thing cacti dont need much of....

How often do you fert and what rates do you use it? Totally dont know how I missed ypur first post lol!!! You defs don't need to be ferting that often. I do my cacti about 5 times a year. And way less than the recommended dose.

Im no expert in any way or form. But id say watertrade is pretty spot on. Our brain are so verry good at seeing patterns or things that match up with out own umderstanding. So its probably part coincidence and part your brain just showing you what you want to see
