As a shop owner I should be urging you all to buy local, but at $100 and a bit for a 23 quart PC! Fark me dead!

Ah, thanks tripsis. Good links. Anyone out there doing this in their gardens? Observations? Comments?

Anyone know of an Australian supplier of mycorrhizal products that can be added to plants, sort of like Stamet's MycoGrow stuff? (http://www.fungi.com/mycogrow/index.html) If not, can Fungi Perfecti's product be imported into Australia (I doubt it!)? And if so, is there a good argument against using non-native fungus on a domestic/backyard scale? -M

For me, murder dreams, specifically ones in which I am the perpetrator rather than the victim, always occur at the beginning of an intensely happy stretch of time. It's almost like clockwork... In fact, I sometimes wonder if my conscious awareness of this symbolism is perhaps what perpetuates its frequency.

In old Polish folklore, dreams of teeth represent death or sudden changes. But don't worry: my mum's been freaking me out with this since I was a kid and even though I have the occasional tooth dream, I still appear to be quite alive. My teeth, on the other hand, are in a terrible state! (I write this as I finish off my third doughnut of the day...)

Hello folks. I just received, in the mail, a nice chubby San Pedro cutting. I have a big terra cotta pot that I've put aside for it, but now I'm wondering whether the big size may be problematic. The pot's about 70cm tall and 70cm in diameter. I'm planning on using a commercial cactus mix:perlite:river sand combo in a 2:1:1 ratio. Is there any foreseeable problem with big pots for cactus? Too much water retention, perhaps? Also, if it's relevant, I plan on growing this baby nice and big. Not really planning on harvesting for the dinner plate. (Sometimes, I get carried away and I dream of a tall flowering pach outside my kitchen window... ) Cheers! -M

Cheers Tripsis. The obtusis look lovely in the garden! -
Thank you, rahli! Terribly kind and thoughtful words.

After seeing the Spirit Molecule movie last night, I went home, fell straight asleep, and had my first DMT experience, and it was in the form of a dream! I was a little disappointed, I must admit. Somewhat underwhelming compared to what I've always imagined. But God knows how accurate my dream was... And this morning I come upon this thread!

I'm with Tripsis. The pored one is almost certainly a Suillus luteus aka Slippery Jack. Been collecting those suckers with my folks since before I could walk. (My favourite use: dried and then crumbled into stews and soups for earthy flavour...) That said, your photos are a little dark and it's hard to see for sure, so beware... Also, it's very, very rare to see them this time of year in NSW; not sure about SA.

Thanks for the help, folks. Alice, I like your idea of throwing some other guys into the pot. Simple and brilliant! And Shortly, what would you say is a "good root ball"? What size and roughly how long does it take to get there? Thanks a million. M.

They may or may not be worth keeping, but they certainly aren't worth eating. That said, from a purely aesthetic perspective, Mycena can be some of the prettiest fungi one can find.

Wolfli is wonderful. Incredible. For some more great outsider art, look up Henry Darger... And then curl up in the foetal position and cry yourself to sleep...

Spirit Molecule documentary Australian tour
Marcel replied to RonnySimulacrum's topic in News & Notices
Got my tickets! I just finished the book and I'm very excited. Any other SAB forum members going to the Sydney screening? How about we all wear a purple carnation in a hat as a secret sign. Or better yet, a garland of obtusifolia flowers... -

Most asian grocery stores have Gold Cup brand without flavouring. It looks like this. I've used it and recommend it. The shop down the road sells them for 60 cents each (25gm). These online guys have it too. Also, the online store you linked to has this stuff, which has no additives. You will, however, have to grind it in a coffee grinder, which is what a lot of kitchen lab mycologists in the US do.

These were found on a 2m high tree in Sydney, a few kilometres from the coast, in among dozens and dozens and dozens of what seem to be longifolia shrubs and trees. It wasn't in flower, and there were only about 2 or 3 specimens of this type all next to each other. I've never met an obtusifolia in the flesh, but it seems to look like what I've seen in books. Redness to the tips, leathery texture, wavy in the margins... Pics lightened slightly for greater visibility of veins. What do you guys think? -M

Really? Do longifolia get that red colouring too? Thanks for the help, paradox! -M

Teo, this is great. In all my numerous books and encyclopedias about ethnobotanicals and psychoactive plants, nowhere is there such a simple, clear and precise aya guide. Thanks! M.
