  1. Howdy PH ahem... I mean withdrawal clinic. I have been a member here for a very long time but am unfortunately non active for some time now but I still frequently lurk. Would definitely be interested in coming to a meet up with you man. I would of course need some certainty on the when but otherwise this sounds cool as. Surely there are other old school mofos that still lurk around here that remember plant helpers invaluable contributions. Don't leave a bro hanging too long.

  2. Charities are never about helping others, they're about making ourselves feel better. I'll bet that a majority of the folks who voted for Tony Abbott also donate to charities, but when they do so, not one of them will be considering the irony that their actions may have contributed to putting some of those people in the poorhouse to begin with! There are far more constructive ways to help poor people than giving them your old shoes. I believe charities help to prop up unequal systems by giving those in money/power the illusion that there's some kind of safety net in place to catch everyone who falls thru the cracks. This helps them to justify their self-serving actions when voting, running their business, making investments, and every other aspect of their lives, and lets them feel ok about doing things like supporting Nestle and firing their pregnant workers. And this way they don't ever have to think about fixing our society so that charity is no longer necessary.

    Hi Anodyne,

I am currently running a charity concert to raise money to help me complete a youth centre. I entered this field over a decade ago to give back what was given to me. I was homeles from the age of 13 & without the help of homeless charities I would be dead or in jail. So far this year I have helped a very large number of homeless find stable accommodation & provided food for many starving families.

The truth of the matter is that the government doesn't care & all government support will be extinct very soon & people like myself & the charities we support are desperately trying to find ways to become self sustaining in order to continue providing services to those most in need.

I sincerely hope you will check out my thread & help spread the word.

  4. I've had plenty of seed packs confiscated & destroyed even ones that are listed on ICON as OK to import without a permit. The packages are destroyed due to an inspector deciding for one reason or another that they are not permitted entry. Having said this, I order alot of seeds from overseas & the majority of them get through no worries.

If the plant material that was intercepted was a clear cut illegal import then I would say that it is likely that you are on a targeted list of some sort. On the flipside the person sending things your way could be on a register of some kind or it could be as simple as the person sending the paperwork just neglected to declare what was in the package.

Who can really say? Best bet is to cover your ass if need be.

  5. If you hate your job anyway & know in your heart that it's time I say go for it. I walked away from 85k PA because of burnout. I've never made the same amount of money since but I sleep now which is far more valuable to me than any amount of money.

Your post kind of says to me that you want to take the offer & you're looking for someone to let know that it is OK if you do. Well it is perfectly OK.

    Peace :)

  6. This was kind of a prototype that I tried to put together before the member trading reputation sub-topic/thread existed which is now the more applicable/appropriate place for these posts.

    Peas

    Muskrat

  7. OK I must end this now & I'm afraid to declare the concept a failure. But the blame lies with me & the way i put this shit together. My educated descision is to give the pack to Bullit. He expressed first interest, has proven hort skills & apparently he's good for tick.

ThunderIdeal, you did ace the original guidelines & you have been honest & helpful. I will be contacting you via PM to give you an alternative offer 'no survivors' and all.

As for everyone else, thank you for participating in this mess of a thread. I actually have more Cereus Peruvianus Spiralis seeds enroute from europe so I will be able to offer some more up for trades down the line a little.

    Peas.

  9. I have sorted through my seed stash & have selected a few of the more desirable/rare ones to put into a good friday parcel for one of my fellow SABers.

    Conditions:

    - This offer is available for one member only

    - This offer will be only open to SABers with 'Members2' status or higher (I want to ensure that the people that helped get me started have first dibbs, sorry newcomers)

    - The person that provides the best or most amusing description of how they would gain the trust of a stranger gets the pack.

    - Unfortunately some of these seeds are only in small numbers.

    What's in the pack:

    - 5x Argania Spinosa Seeds

    - 3x Commiphora Neglecta Seeds

    - 10x Santalum Album Seeds

    - 10x Cereus Peruvianus var Spiralis Seeds

Have a great long weekend people!
