Hey Day Tripper, I'm a little out of touch, though I think the previous comments are correct, ie: lophs illegal in Qld and in most other states as far as I recall. I also recall, some time in the last 12-18 months there was a great deal of discussion about proposed changes in federal laws with the aim of reclassifying a large number of plants so that even growing them would become an offense. I think the proposed changes were based more on the presence of particular substance present in plant rather than just the scientific classification/ species of plant. I do remember a thread on this site where it was pointed out that anyone with the extremely common San Pedro growing in their garden could technically be charged under the proposed changes. Sorry, I can't enlighten you as to what the outcome of the changes were as I lost track right about the time I checked in for a long holiday in Rehab ......Datura Stramonium...I have seen great harm caused to people who've been careless with this plant...sometimes irreversible. It can cause permanent damage to your eyes, even blindness and I personally know someone in their late 30's who has resided almost exclusively in psychiatric/nursing homes as a result of having naively experimented with Datura in their early 20's. It's pretty tragic. I advise great respect towards such powerful plants, and to be armed with as much knowledge of them as possible. But what am I talking about, after all, you did state clearly that you only want to look at them. Enjoy the view!

Hey Darkhorse, I would have thought that HBWR would most likely flower in Sydney, but I reckon they'd slow way down in Winter, and maybe even die back a bit if exposed to frosts. That could be a blessing in disguise though as my HBWR is totally out of control. I'm just waiting for the seeds to mature before I prune it within an inch of it's life This PIC doesn't really do it justice as I can't actually get round the back it's so thick. This is 1 years growth, in Brisbane. I lost some of my parrots a little while ago and I suspect they may have been poisoned by it. The rest seem to have learned to leave it alone. Anyone know how long before the Pods will be ready to pick Oh yeah Darkhorse, maybe trying some NPK fertilizer or any broad spectrum nutrient fertilizer for that matter might help with the greenness. I wouldn't bother feeding it too much over winter though

Yeah Gerbil, that really sucks don't it. You could always argue you were just picking a feed and didn't know what you'd picked. But I agree it is such a sad state of affairs when our resources are wasted on such trivial things. I used to lament and be sad and depressed when thinking about such matters. Now I just say fuck it and do the best I can to learn and absorb and carry on. That's why forums such as this are so important. Stop all the nastiness and judgements please. I couldn't agree more with your views. It's nice to see a gentle post what with all the bickering and putting down that goes on here. All SWIM can do for now is keep their heads down, not draw attention and do their own thing together with this community and share our knowledge and insights. Maybe one day our laws will "get real" and care as well as enforce. I have met some great cops, even ones who busted me but I've also seen the real arseholes out there. I have a few friends from school who left the force because it disgusted them, the worst was the traffic accidents where children died. So don't hate all cops. Maybe the job makes em turn hard and nasty. I'm sure some of us are cops. My mates used to score pot from cops after a raid lol Anyway me raves on. Hey Thelma, SWIM recently tried to get some seeds from OS before they realised how naughty they were being. Customs turned up on SWIM's doorstep about three or so months later, although SWIM knew goods had been sent within the week of ordering or so SWIM told me. If your import is legit it should not be held up for more than a few weeks from what I've heard. If it's getting to the 6 week stage or more then I'd suspect it won't ever come ( that's assuming it is legal OK). I hope no one would be silly enough to attempt importation of anything illicit or illegal as I'm sure there would be an ASIO tick on your name lol : ))

Yeah, I think I heard Phillip Adams talking to a guy from the US. Can't remember the name of the organisation, but it was founded about 6 years ago by 4 people and now has a membership of over 12000. They comprise mainly of retired police, prosecutors, judges etc who know that prohibition does not work, and that at the least, 1/3 of the US population has smoked pot. There's some "Blue Ribbon" panel being set up as well to investigate the possibility of rolling back prohobition. Keep me updated please;)

Using a magnifying glass I found some black spots/pellets. I think it is a scale insect of some kind. I think I've got it under control now. I moved those ones back outside for a few days. Also dosed with fungicide and very diluted neem.

Thanks Inyan. My monstrose were already rooted when I bought them and were growing quite vigorously until they got the black death a month or so ago. As the bases are totally shite I think I'll have to plant the tips. The other cacti that seem to have recovered a bit look pretty ugly due to scarring from blak rot. Those patches have turned white. I'll try get some piccies up this weekend.
