    Lift From Sydney to Newcastle

Howdy Slybacon, I sent you a pm shortly after you posted your last message here but I guess you didn't see it. Yeah I could offer you a lift, that's if you see this in time. I guess if you check this at the airport and are willing to wait around the airport for about an hour, as that's how long it would take me to get from my place to the international airport. Any who if you do see this and want a lift text me. Otherwise happy train journey.

Mother bear kills cub and then itself

There's a moon bear rescue in China which people can support by way of $$ donations. They rescue and rehabilitate bile bears, and then house them for the remainder of their lives; I think the bears have a life span of around 30 years or so. The sanctuary was founded by an English lady named Jill Robinson who now lives over in China. Animals Asia

    Netbooks (Mini Laptops)

I'm not a fan of Dell computers myself. I have an old Dell laptop and the battery didn't last that long on it. It wasn't worth getting another battery so it's only usable if it's plugged in nowadays. Plus they've had a few battery scares in the past. Link

    Netbooks (Mini Laptops)

Congrats on your purchase Slybacon, let us know if linux runs nicely on your machine when you get it up and going. It'd be interested to know if you find browsing the internet on the Eee pc an enjoyable experience on a screen that size, and also if you're browsing/downloading is as fast as on a desktop. I already have a laptop but I'm considering getting something smaller in the future as carrying my lappy around isn't helping my back.

    cb radios for rainbow serpent

I was using one of those hand held walkie talkies at Rainbow this year, I think it was one of those uniden ones with about 6-7km range... don't know the exact model 'cas they weren't mine. 'Twas mad fun! It actually helped me locate people a couple of times. But what was more fun was when I was in my tent and I started talking random shit on the radio and then other people joined in and we made a whole little random story about weird crap. The only thing I had to remember was to switch it off if I was going somewhere where it would intrude on the surrounding ambience, as there were quite a few people using the same channel as me.

    Netbooks (Mini Laptops)

I'm sure there's a lot of netbooks out there with better specifications than the computer I'm about to suggest, but I've been looking into tablets recently. Don't know whether the idea of a tablet is intriguing to you or not, but If I had the $ I would get the Acer Iconia W501 32Gb (3G) Tablet pc with attachable keyboard dock. Here's the specs. Acer Iconia W501 32Gb With Dock (3G) $999.00 Acer Iconia W501 Tablet PC (3G) •AMD Dual-Core C50 •2GB DDR3 RAM •32GB Solid State Drive •10" Multi-Touch HD LED LCD •ATI Radeon™ HD 6250 Graphics (256Mb) •2x USB Ports, HDMI, •802.11 b/g/Draft-N Wireless, Bluetooth •Built in 3G Antenna •1.3M Front & Rear Facing CystalEye Webcams •2 in 1 Card Reader •Iconia Tab USB Dock (Keyboard in-built) •Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 32-Bit •2 Year Pickup/Repair/Return Warranty by ACER It's probably a bit expensive for what it is at this stage, but in a year the price may have come down a bit. I think one review said they got (edit 7 , 6 hours of internet browsing) use with this device....battery life ain't that great compared to other netbooks.... but it's okay for a tablet There's also a version that comes with android with a longer battery run time, the acer iconia a501; but that doesn't come with an included keyboard dock.

Was it beginners luck or am I just a natural.... will soon see.... Not sure what we'll be doing after fishing but if you're in the area on Saturday evening give us a buzz.

Damn assignment.
  14. It's a really sexy book. One of my prize possessions. Jam packed with info too, so much so that I dropped it on the ground within minutes of owning it... the weight of it must have overcome me.

hoodies , beanies banned in shops.

'Hoodie Free Zone' to reduce robbery risk by Queensland Police Service on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 2:41am Qld Police Service fb info site I don't agree with the ban. Wynnum can be quite a scary place, particularly at the train stations at night. So if the retailers in Wynnum are pleased with the outcome of the trial and feel generally safer, I can see how the police will try and use that as leverage to continue the role out into the South Brisbane and Oxley Districts. But a would be robber would have to be a little bit silly to try and stage a hold up in Wynnum during the trial.. so naturally you'd think that the number of armed robberies for the Wynnum area would drop for the month of the trial. So the trial will most likely be a "success".... although not a very accurate success. Surely the problem will just be displaced to surrounding suburbs.

    Just got bitten...by a bat

My goodness that's a lot of euro for helping that bat! It is rather a cute bat . I've had a bat fly over me whilst sitting in a park.. it did a circle and then it's shit landed on my leg. It would have been about 10-20metres above me, quite good aim. Funny things, bats.

over 1000 new species discovered in new guinea

It's amazing that so many new species can still be found so recently, shame about the habitat destruction. Such is life I guess. Thanks for posting.

    Synesthesia

I've been at a doof on a cocktail of substances... and was standing in a circle of people, and it seemed to me that the music was travelling through people's bodies like a type of energy ball bouncing back and forth and round and through the circle depending on how people were moving and dancing to the music. Was quite an experience.

    don't cha hate it when..

don't cha hate it when you live out woop woop so your internet connection is terrible, so you look forward to using the super fast internet that your family who lives interstate has; only do find that their unlimited downloads has been limited to 1GB and there connection is so slow it's worse than where you live. damn.

    Hitchhikers

I've gotten lifts off people I haven't met before, once from Sydney to Melbourne and once from Beaufort back to Melbourne; but I haven't actually had to stand beside the road and thumb anyone down. Having said that I've offered a lift to complete strangers to a doof and they turned out to be fuck wits - they stole money and were total mind fucks. Don't think I would be game enough to pick up hitch hikers by myself, although I have been in a car when the driver did feel inclined to do so.
