    morel season

Just a heads up to those that hunt morels. Season is booming after what I thought would be a pretty poor show. Ive been checking patches over the past few weeks with no fruit to show but yesterday they were everywhere, had a lazy stroll with my girl and the kids and got just over 2kg. If I put some time in I believe that number could have been easily tripled. Get out to the granite country folks, these lil babies are delicious and well worth the effort!!

    Trichocereus

I believe IB is on the money. Looks too much like j2 which, not surprisingly, has shown itself to be quiet variable in its growth habit, even cuttings grown as little as a couple of feet apart in one of my gardens look like completely different plants. That it comes from jims and the familiar (from my experience) characteristics dont leave much else imo. Jims collection is huge but there isnt a great deal of different tricho plants that are of a mature age or that he be willing to cut. You know the score WT, grow it out, take cuts, grow it some more etc etc etc Jim and his bloody hybrids lol, "they are all san pedro, that one there, thats a hybrid, but they are all san pedro"

    Named Clones Database Discussion Thread

I have only had one lot of cuttings not make it to the buyer in the US and I have sent quiet a number of packages so the odds are def in favour, the risk is very small ime. The limiting factor being the cost to ship the cuts in the first place.

A couple i have left display the self terminating the same as what zelly has shown. One of my fav crosses ive done and id really like to see an update of yours poisonshroom!!!

    Shrivelled Lophs

is not an offer it is a replacement for the ones that perished and was posted a few hours ago.

    Shrivelled Lophs

They degrafts were calloused and fine when sent, some small yes but sizes I have no problems rooting out. The "detailed" instructions I apparently gave made no mention of anything other than sand which is what I use whn rooting out lophs. The others I had at the time were rooted in sand and some others in a soil mix then were greenhoused for a month or so before sitting on a verandah under a table due to having to move house. We get mad frost here and days in winter are cold. I take no responsibility for the obviously very poor care shown for the plants and hope bf can learn a lesson from his loss. I have however put an extra bakers dozen of rooted lophs in his most recent purchase so his collection will be not much changed. Please look after these ones bf and try getting some advice if you run into trouble well before they get beyond help. I cant do anything for stock once it has left my care as everyone should be well aware and poor care of plants or cuttings is not the fault of the seller whatsoever.

    Hairy San Pedro pup??

Had a couple of these the season just gone, one on a yowie tip that had snapped off the main plant, too top heavy, tip was smashed in so i cut it off and the flower/pup came out soon after and to begin with it was very hairy....... think i showed interbeing that one. The ones pictured are from an old cutting that i recently harvested the tips from. The base produced the flower pups. The base was from an old pedro and it had flowered many times so i assumed that the pups came out from where the plant was ready to flower before i cut it years ago, the flower buds already formed in the plant and dormant jjust waiting for the flowering hormones but instead different hormones were produced and the plant wanted to grow rather than flower. Im guessing the yowie tip that did the same would have flowered during the summer but fate had other plans.

    Morchella elata

One of the best tasting mushrooms there is. Often harder to find than other mushrooms as once someone finds a patch they rarely divulge the information haha.

    dung lovers n.e. vic.

They were/are definitely psilocybe mushrooms. They blueing can easily be seen on the stems, the tip of the larger cap and an intense stain on the cap of the smaller specimen. Investigation of the spore samples showed some interesting results!

    J1, J2, J3.

For some reason in the crosses of psycho0 and j2, both ways, the J2 characteristics seemed to be rather dominant which to me is strange as generally psycho0 genes display more prominent in most crosses regardless of it being mother or father. That is in my experience though and only with the small numbers of plants i have grown to any size to speak of from this particular cross. That said, J2 can show a great deal of variation in its appearance from plant to plant, moreso than other trichos, even plants grown in close proximity can look very different from one another a slight difference in sun/light exposure is all it takes. Im talkn cuttings/plants that are growing within 2ft of each other, same soil, same everything except one gets shade a lil earlier in the day, not much earlier but obviously enough to alter the appearance from the other plant. I cut them back rather hard this season though so it will be interesting if the difference continues to show or if the traits were from previous growing conditions which went unchanged when moved. I think i know who you got the plant from, he should have a lot more different hybrids from the aussie clones soon if i get my arse into gear Wanna pm me a pic? Interested to see how your plant looks.

    J1, J2, J3.

I have been asked over and over if i caould explain what these hybrids are or do i have pictures of them so here they all are in one thread. They are only named this way in my collection so i have some memory of where and who they came from and also because i havent seen or been able to get plants like this from anywhere else. All the owner has been able to tell me is they are just hybrids, not a great deal of help although he has awesome plants so i dont mind *Note* These plants are grown in two or three different locations with completely different conditions in each. i want more pinkies

I think the ants leave the seeds and take the fruit flesh away. The reason i believe this is because this season i moved a couple of mature plants into a well shaded area. After a good soaking seedlings started popping up everywhere in the pots, some more than others but there they were, baby lophs. I always thought the ants took the seeds as well as the flesh but they must discard them. I have only missed picking fruit a few times i had thought so i was surprised at the amount of seedlings that popped up.
