Calea zacatechichi being seized in New Zealand

So basically now, short of law reform (unlikely), the only way to have our humble herbs re-introduced to the sphere of legality is if some major company foots the bill to 'research its harm/benefit payoff'. I can see where this is heading... "Ah yes, calea zacatechichi. Well, we've done the research after being alerted to its potential therapeutic uses and we came back with mixed results. It appears that the active ingredient is indeed safe for normal consumption, HOWEVER it is important to note that further testing must be done in order to confrim these results with the original plant matter. For now, we have isolated and improved upon the active ingredient and are pleased to introduce a new range of medicine under the name of "Greedyguts PharmaCO" which can be found at your local chemist. Those seeking the benefits associated with this herb would do well to seek this clinically proven treatment."

    First real post: The shepherdess

Yeah I read that drug foundation blurb, but as you say it doesnt have any detailed information about growing, personal use and minor distribution etc. I know that there are New Zealanders on these forums that trade cuttings and it would be a shame if such a minor act was now illegal.
  3. ~~~I guess this probably needs to be put in 'legal matters'. If so, could somebody please move it there? My apologies ~~~ Hello all! This is my first real post here, so greetings from Wellington New zealand! I just have a quick question regarding legality and what is appropriate to post on these forums. I live in New Zealand and the recent psychoactive substances bill has outlawed the sale of the plant in question. If a person were to post pictures and get feedback on their grow-process, could there be any negative repercussions for doing so? I am a complete novice when it comes to botany / gardening, yet have become incresingly interested in learning to cultivate medicinal plants and would love to get involved with this community. Thanks in advance for any help! Bio~

    gone

Hi again, my apologies if I came across as a leech. Thanks for the trade-me link, I didnt even think to look there! I'm not sure how dedicated I can be to this forum but I will make a point of exploring the other sub-forums. If things grab my fancy then perhaps I will just stick around, who knows. Anyway, thanks again for the advice - people here seem to be pretty helpful in general. ~Bio

Hi Bogfrog - I have been searching for a place to purchase salvia plants for a while now, I'm very interested in growing my own as I firmly belive the dedication to the plant is an important part of whatever experience is felt while under it's influence. If there were any chance you could help me source some cuttings - either your own or elsewhere, I would be extremely grateful and of course willing to reimburse you for any trouble. ~Bio
